Fifth Salisbury Hotel Robbed, 2 Suspects In Police Custody

SALISBURY, Md.- Two suspects are in police custody after a fifth Salisbury hotel was robbed early Wednesday morning, police said.

The two men were caught around 1 a.m. after Salisbury police noticed one of the men matched the description from earlier hotel robberies. The suspects were captured in the area of the Residence Inn in north Salisbury, according to police.

One of the suspects had robbed the Residence Inn by walking up to the front desk, presenting a hand-written demanding cash for his family. After being given the money, the suspect walked out of the hotel where officers confronted him, according to police. He then led officers on a foot chase before he was captured in a thicket near the Route 50 bypass.

Well done to those SPD officers!

Ya gotta love the moron who robbed not two, not three, not four, but FIVE motels. If he would have mixed up the types of businesses he targeted, he'd probably still be out there.

I hope they lose the key when the two get locked up. Freaking morons preying on honest people.

One person, a cab driver who the criminal was getting a ride with, was released as a non-suspect. Keep jumping to conclusions. One day you may even shoot the messenger. (Watch your back, Joe)

I wish the courts system in Wicomico county would see this as an opportunity to prove to us that they mean business and will not tolerate this type of criminal activity. I think they should start charging these people with terrorism, because that is what they are doing to the whole county!!

Very good work by SPD. What a dumb ass. At least mix up the types of places you are looking to rob and don't get greedy. Again, good work.

One person was arrested.
Yay SPD! Good job!

Good job Sheriff's deputy who caught the suspect. SPD charged after he was caught.

I see the perp has prior theft, burglary, and trespassing charges in the past.

First, congrats and thanks to whatever police agency(ies) caught them. However, at Hotel #5 in so short a time, I'd be booing if they hadn't. These robbers are idiots!

While I'm sure few thugs keep up with local news in any form, their M.O. with the note makes me wonder if they heard the constant excuse of "it's the economy" from law enforcement and decided that was a good trick and that it would protect them from getting caught.

Word does move among the criminal element.

Previously, the word was the Man ain't gonna do nuthin' cuz it's the 'conomy stoopid.

11:51-FYI
The Salisbury Police Department and the Wicomico Sheriff's Office often work hand and hand. However, the SPD caught this guy. Let's give credit where credit is due. Read the press release. A SPD detective was doing surveillance on that hotel and saw suspicious taxi and then a guy matching the description go in. He called SPD units to the area and SPD chased him and SPD caught him. A lot of the deputies do a fantastic job and I am not trying to discredit them in the least bit. Even when the SPD does a great job you have someone knocking them down.

Joe,
If this had been the WCSO led by the immortal Mike Lewis you would be bragging all over this blog. Webster's done. Give the hardworking officers at SPD some credit for once.
