This article talks about the international weapons trade. Not your right to own a hand gun, but the rights of nations to export and sell guns on the global market. The reversal is from Bush not wanting to debate this topic.. probley becuse the U.S is the biggest exporter of weapons in the world. However, OBAMA wants to make the vote unanimus. Which means if the U.S does not like it we do not sign and the treaty fails. So it looks to me that Obama is open to the idea of debate but still wants to have a very powerfull hand in how the treaty takes shape. Also incase you did not know all U.S treaties have to be ratified by a 2/3 vote in Congress.
Please try and read and understand and research, dont but foam at the mouth amd spew hate and panic.

Despite his campaign promises President Obama announced in 2009 that he will not push for the reinstatement of the Assault Weapons Ban. Should that make the gun enthusiasts happy?

At what point will you reach the aha moment like so many conservatives did and REALIZE that George Bush wasn't who he said he was? Obama is NOT a good guy, he and his pals are evil and they want to destroy this country and they are doing it in a very careful way, and this attack on US preeminence is only one more brick in the wall. Let's review:
The proposed treaty is opposed by conservative U.S. think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, which said last month that it would not restrict the access of "dictators and terrorists" to arms but would be used to reduce the ability of democracies such as Israel to defend their people.
The U.S. lobbying group the National Rifle Association has also opposed the treaty.
Obama can sign all of the treaties that he wants. Unless the treaty is ratified by Congress, it doesn't mean jack squat.
Plus, the ratification of a treaty is an act of legislature. This means that it does not supersede the rights granted to individuals by the constitution.
RighCoast majority of people do not completely agree or completely disagree with policies of any administration.
There are things that I liked about Bush and his policies.
There are thigs that I do not like about Obama and his policies.
What's scary is when people blindly support or oppose every policy, that's called extremism and it's very dangerous.
