Salisbury Puts Out Welcome Mat for Criminals

Lore Chambers might as well put out a press release or memo to ECI telling them the City of Salisbury welcomes all newly released prisoners. Just keep on dropping them off at the Christian Center in the Church St area and we'll take good care of them. All rapists, murderers, thieves, drug dealers, gang bangers, child molesters and anyone else released on parole or probation welcome in the City of Salisbury. We'll help you find housing from our long list of slumlords, just don't try to go in her neighborhood over in West Nithsdale. We'll set you up in a program to help you further your education, that you turned down while in ECI, job training, that you refused in ECI, so you can hang out in the rec yard, in the mean time you can draw benefits from Social Services, get some food stamps and a medical card and anything else you might need, just call Lore, she'll get it for you.

In the mean time, hard working citizens are thrown to the wolves. Long time citizens of the city are losing jobs with no relief in sight in this failing economy. If the city wants to institute programs, fine. Let's institute programs that help the families that have lived and worked honestly. Help families that contribute to our local economy. Help families that pay taxes on the properties that the city, with the aide of their slumlord buddies have turned into blighted areas, over run with drugs and gangs just so they keep it out of the areas where they live.

While the citizens beg and plead for relief from the rising crime rate the assistant city administrator is hard at work putting programs together to welcome newly released criminals into our neighborhoods.

Lore's new motto: "Like Motel 6, Salisbury will leave the light on for you."

I felt the passion that you wrote that with. I remember when all the doctors owned the rentals years back and Terry managed them. Been in under or above most of them. Isnt there another prison coming to Somerset county soon?

Thinkin' Salisbury will turn the lights out for you, so you have better cover.

Federal prison coming to Somerset county. Barries family won't have so far to go visit.

People like her dont go to jail. At best you can convince them to leave. Persuation is a very powerful tool.

This has been going on for years, ever since ECI opened. You can also thank Perdues, Mountaire poultry and the many low paying labor jobs in the area The owners donot care who they hire. For years much of the crime in this area has been brought here from the Western Shore. Until Law Enforcement and more particular the Judicary take back the city and county The criminals will be in control. Criminals only understand tough sentencing. We areonly safe when criminals are taken off the street.

Hey!! It's the democratic way.

Fool them into release but keep'em in a cage.

VOTE Democrat, it's easire then thinking.

Don't bash the low paying jobs. Bash the payouts for doing NOTHING. As soon as the city dries up handouts, the undesirables will begin leaving looking for greener pastures. Baltimore and Annapolis, under O'Malley's leadership should be an easy migration target for the duds.

Have the city stop giving things away and you shall see a difference.

I think all Democrats should be forced to house a criminal for a year.

Maybe they would change their mind.

6:10, where do you get this info from? Blameing the chicken processors? I can tell you don't have a clue who works at those plants.

Joe,
When are you going to admit that Ireton is an idiot and incompatent. He is by no means a leader. He should to teaching lids. They may believe what he says. What a dumb a--

Prisoners wouldn't be eligible for Medical Assistance automatically. Children are typically eligible (although the family may have to pay on a sliding scale rate) and pregnant women are typically eligible- during pregnancy and up to one year after delivery.

Prisoners also wouldn't be eligible for TANF benefits (welfare)- you have to have children for that... and the children have to reside with you.

I'm not saying that people don't cheat the system or get one over on the government but don't automatically assume that people freely get benefits.

Maybe you could tag along with someone who is applying or recertifying for benefits. You might see a different side of the system.

That's "Terry Sell" right?

Dont forget Poplar Hill where every murderer in state goes before he is released. Then they devolope ties in the area and stay.

Then there is the gang problem. That does not exist if you are Chief Webster.

Mark Tyler and Robinson was the best they could do ?? Great guys but not answer to the problem. Where are the top guns. One busy suing and the other teaching. I have lived here my entire life and have never seen it this bad. Where in the hell is the leadership.

Paul Martin would have had Hunter Nelms and Colburne Dykes on the carpet. The city is in the county. There better be change real soon or there will be change next November. The rest of the fluff in the room is just that fluff.

Irreton raise the bar a little. I do not like what I see from you at all.

So, Webster was in the building; why did he NOT attend?

Speaking of Nithsdale doesn't Lore Chambers live there as well? NIMBYism !!

Why not use your real name when attacking someone GHANIMA. I think everything you write is always a Misrepresentation of the facts, tell ALL of the story and let the reader make up their own mind.

I can't beleive this is allowed to happen with so many people knowing about it and saying nothing.

Not everyone deserves to be a millionaire. But every parent has the opportunity to educate and instill hard work values in their young. I've seen the Koreans in a large city pool their resources together and each generation did better than the last and they cared for their elders. WOW, what a concept!

As far as I am concerned they can damn well fend for themselves when they get out of prison.I would rather see my tax dollars helping out deserving WORKING families than some career thug who knows how to evoke sympathy from do-gooders and work the system.Who do you think is supporting their kids while they are in prison? We are!I seem to recall a recent court case where a convicxted murderer had 13 kids.Who is paying the bills? We are!
I am tired of scrimping and saving to care for my family while convicted felons live the life of Riley.

5:45 You are completely wrong about "Doctors" being the landlords in Salisbury , the biggest landlords in those days were Cannon, Twilley, Williams,Insley,Callis, Hall. None of those guys are Doctors. Why don't you tell us why Terry was forced out know it all?

100 percent with bluojthetotmom!

Not interested in all of these handouts, perhaps the reason why they are coming her is because of all the handouts.

I would like to know how many ECI prisoners are released on Eastern Shore, and what is the rate of their
recidivism. If anyone out there knows, HELP!!

I'm done, going to talk with my family about moving out! There is no change coming!

Barrie, Webster, Comegys, Smith, and Shields are clearly one hundred percent in bed with the slumlords and are willing to sell Salsibury out for personal gain!

Anonymous said...

1:58 thank you. Isn't Cannon in a conflict of interest over owning all these rentals? Why is that allowed by the county? Oh, I know, he is no longer managing his own properties, rather he has given them over to someone else to manage so that he is not in a conflict of interest!! Well, he certainly owns plenty of slum properties, perhaps someone would like to start identifying them for the rest of us????????

Criminals are attracted here because it's easy pickin's in the city, I mean the lack of police manpower is no secret.
