AFP-Maryland Applauds Rep. Kratovil In Opposition Of HR 3962

Membership will continue to communicate with Blue Dog during Conference process

ANNAPOLIS – Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD01)
voted against HR 3962, the massive government overhaul of our health care system, on Saturday evening. Citing the devastating effect it would have on small businesses and the long term costs to taxpayers, Rep. Kratovil explained his ‘NO’ vote in a press release. AFP-Maryland applauds Kratovil’s decision and hopes that he will become an advocate for measures that would actually increase access to quality, affordable health care such as tort reform, portability, and allowance of insurance purchases across state lines.

“We applaud Rep. Kratovil for opposing HR3962” said AFP-Maryland state director Dave Schwartz. “However, we hope that the Congressman will advocate for real reform during the Conference process. Free market reform is the only way to stop the rising costs of health care. Our members will continue to communicate with Rep. Kratovil in an effort to make sure he knows where his constituents stand on this issue.”

The United States Senate will now take up its version of a health care bill. If a bill passes the Senate it then goes to a Conference Committee where members of both the House and Senate reconcile their respective versions into one bill. Each house must vote separately on the final product. President Obama has requested that this process be finalized before the end of the year.

Don't be fooled, he was considered vunerable. Queen Pelosi grantyed him permission to vote no because her highness had enough votes to pass. All the wrangling over the past few days was not about whether Queen Pelosi would ram this thru, but which of her subjectswould be granted permission to vote no and which would be required to vote yes.
It's all a shell game with the Dumbocrats!

What is he speaking about?
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the Conference committee is involved only IF two different bills are passed. In that case the two bills are melded with only items in passed bills.
Torte reform, portability, and policies sold across state lines WERE NOT included in either bill and can not be included in conference.
Those involved in Conference are only senior members and those directly involved with writing of their bills. Kratovil qualifies for neither.
With this health care fiasco, the house bill is being sent to the Senate for a vote and if passes, on the the Prez. Nothing which needs Kratovil's involvement.

Sure, it's all the democrats fault and they are the only ones playing partisan games. The so-called republ. opposition is all the same game.

Either way, I want the common sense people to craft our health care strategy. Not a bunch of partisan idealogues

Here's what is happening.
Pelosi and the rest of teh Dumbocrats passed a bill that has what they want plus a lot of poison. The Senate will remove the poison and leave the rest. The Conference Committe will iron ou the differences. Kratovil and the rest of the Dumbocrats will pass what remains.
The sheeple will think that all the bad stuff has been removed and the Dumbocrats did a great job when in reality they will have rammed thru what they wanted to begin with.
Only Fox news, Glen Beck, and Rush Limbaugh will be revealing what they're up to.

554 - Not true. Amendments can be added at any time during the Conference process.
