RSC Update

From the Chairman
It’s only been nine months since President Obama took office, but he has already made his mark as the biggest spending President in our country’s history. Having backed away from his pledge to “make the tough decisions,” President Obama continues down a path of unsustainable and out-of-control government spending.

The annual federal deficit came in last week at a record $1.42 trillion. This stunning total should give pause to all in Washington. Americans will be paying the price for the reckless spending of this Congress and President for generations to come, and the long-term prosperity of our nation will be under threat from a falling dollar, impending tax hikes, and rising interest rates.

Yet despite the clear consequences, Congressional Democrats have no intent to rein in deficit spending. In fact, they have announced plans to take $250 billion out of their health care plan and pass it separately without any offsets, adding a quarter-trillion dollars to our national debt in the first ten years. This obvious gimmick is the only way they have found to keep their government takeover of medicine beneath the President’s desired price tag of $900 billion. This much is clear - Democrats in Washington have no concern about “paying for” health care reform. They are only concerned with looking like they are paying for it.

As with every major issue facing this nation, the RSC has offered a better health care solution, H.R. 3400, which makes patient-centered health care reforms. It ensures patients will still be able to see their doctors, without adding a penny to our national debt. It’s time to put a stop to these runaway deficits and bring fiscal order back to Washington. There’s still time to address our budget problems and set our country on track for a brighter future.

Thanks for your support,

Congressman Tom Price, M.D.Chairman, Republican Study Committee

It's time to put a stop to congress. If we don't vote them all out of office, this country is doomed.

I know that this President has spent a lot of money.
What's not being said is how much of that deficit is for our unnecessary war started by George W. Bush?
Seems nobody wants to talk about that.
Let's not also forget that some of the bailout process was also started by George W. Bush but finished out by Obama.
I have no problem with pointing out stuff on the elected officials, but let's at least try and show both sides sometimes.
Let's also look at this for a moment.
When 9/11 happened, some wanted to say it was all Clinton's fault because the planning happened on his watch.
When the economy crashed and burned, people wanted to blame Obama. Didn't all of this start on George W.'s watch?
See what I mean?
Finger pointing serves no purpose really and most of the rhetoric is one sided.
There are problems on both sides of the aisle.

10:01, It's was Obama's omnibus bill, 2nd stimulus that fell flat, and now his capntrade & healthcare bills that have earned him most spending president ever. Capntrade and healthcare haven't been passed yet, but they are hell bent on pushing it. As for George Bush, you can add up all Obama's current spending and get to Bush's 8 years of spending. And if you want to get technical, all this started in 2007, when Congress was taken over by none other than Nancy "Great Satan" Pelosi.
