Bridgeville Man Arrested


Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Paraphernalia And Criminal Impersonation Charges For Bridgeville Man

Location: Coverdale Road and Jones Dogwood Lane, Bridgeville

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, October 18th, 2009 at 7:54 pm

Suspect(s): Mr. George Johnson, 48, of the 20000 Block of Alder Lane, Bridgeville

Resume: On Sunday, October 18th, 2009, a Delaware State Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Buick sedan which was traveling on Coverdale Road in the area of Jones Dogwood Lane.

Upon establishing contact with the operator, the Trooper determined that neither the driver nor front passenger had any identification in their possession.

A computer check was conducted based upon the information provided by both of the parties. The check concluded that the operator was being cooperative with the investigation.

The front male passenger, later identified as Mr. George Johnson, 48, of the 20000 Block of Alder Lane, Bridgeville, provided two different Troopers on-scene different names and dates of birth in an attempt to conceal his identity. Mr. Johnson was detained at which time he admitted to his true identity.

A computer check indicated that Mr. Johnson was wanted on nine active capiases from three different courts. In addition, a search of Mr. Johnson’s person for officer safety purposes revealed that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Johnson was transported to Troop 5 where he was formally charged with Criminal Impersonation (Misdemeanor) and Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor). Mr. Johnson was then arraigned on the aforementioned charges and his outstanding capiases. Mr. Johnson was committed to Sussex Correctional Center in lieu of a bond greater than $10,000.00.
