One Maryland, One Book

Katie O’Malley invites all Marylanders to pick up a good book this fall. She has invited everyone to participate in the “One Maryland One Book” program by reading Song Yet Sung, by James McBride, acclaimed author of the best-selling memoir, The Color of Water. Song Yet Sung takes place on Maryland’s Eastern Shore during the 1850's and follows the suspenseful journey of Liz Spocott, a runaway slave. While following Liz’s heroic and personal journey, it also deals with larger issues like race, identity, personal relationship- issues important to us all. “One Maryland One Book” is designed to bring all Marylanders together through the experience of reading the same book and participating in group book discussions. On Oct 12, Poplar Hill Mansion will host a book discussion of Song Yet Sung, led by Curator, Nancy Marasco. Call 410-749-1776 for more information . Join us in reading Song Yet Sung.
