Flu Mist Vaccine Suspended At Beaver Run School
Joe, I just got a call from Beaver Run Elementary School telling me they have suspended the scheduled flu mist vaccine. The recording said if you had and questions to call the Health Department. I indeed called the Health Department and asked if it was correct that the vaccine was suspended which was verified. I then asked why it was put on hold so the operator could ask the nurse but after 5 minutes of waiting I hung up without an answer. I was hoping someone knew why the vaccine was indeed suspended.

I just spoke with someone from the Health Department, they informed me the reason why it was suspended was because they are preparing to give the H1N1 shot and that if the students get the flu mist now they wont be able to get the H1N1 shot. I was told it has to be a 4week turn around time. They are suggesting you go to the childs pediatrician for the flu vaccine or to the Health Department.
Thanks for the update. I'm not sure if I like it but Thanks regardless. It does seem crazy they put the proven vaccine on hold for this H1N1 crap.
Do your research and you may chose NOT to have your child get the N1N1 vaccine.
Look at what's in it and then decide. They state they do not know what long term effects the PESTICIDES in it will have on anyone.
If I still had a child in school, they would NOT be getting this shot.
Feed your children well balanced home cooked meals and make sure they get plenty of rest along with plenty of exercise. Make sure you're doing everything you can to have a HEALTHY child and they will probably be able to fight off some of these diseases.
I believe one of the reasons things spread like they do anymore is many people don't eat right and they don't exercise. They also don't "cook", they prepare pre-packaged junk for a meal. Their resistance levels are squat!
don't bad mouth the health dept, they do a whole lot more than any ever gives them credit for!!!
and so what if you had to hold on for 5 minutes, maybe getting the correct answer takes 5 minutes to get, don't you want the right answer rather than the quick answer!
Anon 4:00 I agree with you! No way mine are getting either shot. I have never been a fan of vaccinations to begin with because of what they include but there is no way I am injecting chemicals into my child especially not one that has only been under development for what, 8 months tops?! Not happening, if they mandate the vaccines for public school students I will be home schooling mine this year.
People that are vaccine nuts should have their head examined. Vaccines are safe.. they are responsible for eradicating Small Pox--(u know the disease that really kills(millions), Polio---u know the disease that maimed and paralyzed hundreds of thousands of people... Measles..etc.etc..etc..
Get a grip... without vaccines the life-expectancy would be 30-40 years old

It just isn't true about eradicating small pox and polio. The diseases were declining before the vaccines were released.
You need to actually research the matter instead of just repeating what you have been told by Big Pharma.
Vaccine safety is not at all assumed. Find out how they are made and what is in them! You may be surprised.
Not this chicky....I will get plenty of sleep and eat well. No shooting foreign matter into my immune system.
#1--Would you rather be left on hold for 5 minutes or be given some BS answer?
#2--If you were put on hold...you will not be on hold for 5 minutes with out speaking to someone between hold times. The phones automaticly ring back in like two minutes.
#3--We (yes I work at the heealth department) have suffered many budget cuts. Some departments have been completely done away with. I know the ladies in that department and trust me, when you were put on hold they were spending all that time trying to locate the answer for you. Please be patient as we work through these hard times.
I for one have had the opportunity to observe the caretakers at the health department recently. They are NOT a joke, they probably care more for you and the community than your primary care doctor that pushes patients through every 15 minutes to meet their quota. Why don't you do some research regarding the care and programs they provide to your community! If you have been fortunate enough to not have to access them for their care, then lucky you...but not everyone was born with that holier than thou silver spoon in their mouth. If you don't want a vaccine...don't get it...after all, we do live in a free country...FOR NOW!
Anon 7:14 thank you for voicing your opinion in a pleasant manner. All too often people want to comment in a huff only further supporting the claim they are attempting to debunk. It shows even if two people do not agree it is always possible to be civil and work through it.
I don't get it though - they gave it at Delmar today - they gave it at Fruitland Intermediate today - but then they suspended it at other schools due to the time frame of the H1N1 vaccine? Why do it at some schools and cancel others? And does one day make a difference?
It was sent down from the state while the nurses were out to lunch, so the schools who were scheduled for the afternoon weren't able to get it.
It's in preparation of the H1N1 vaccine. Because both the nasal mists are live viruses, there must be a 4 week interval between receiving them.
If you still want your child to have the Flumist, you can call the health dept or your pediatrician to have it done, but keep in mind you will have to wait 4 weeks from the date it's given to get the H1N1 vaccine should you so wish.
(And yes, I work at the health dept)
I am undecided about H1N1 but I think overall the benefits of most immunizations outweigh the risks.Ever heard of a smallpox death or diptheria outbreak lately?These are diseases that killed alot of people before vaccinations were available.My late Uncle had polio and had the vaccine been available when he was a kid,before he contracted it,he might have lived past his 30's.It is a hot topic but both sides should be heard.

I went to Perdue stadium for my seasonal flu shot, but my primary care doctor is not so keen on the vaccine for H1N1. What she says is good enough for me.
