Date of Occurrence: Thursday, August 20, 2009, at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Suspect(s): Possibly two white males in a white work style full size van

Resume: At approximately 7:00 p.m. this evening, Troopers were dispatched to the 700 block of Newport Gap Pike for a possible abducted child report.

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with a 13-year-old boy (reporting person) who claimed the following… He was skateboarding out in front of his home when his attention was drawn to a young boy, about his age, to be referred to hereinafter as the victim, who was walking toward him on Newport Gap Pike carrying a skateboard.

The reporting person advised officers that a white van pulled up and two white males got out. They confronted the victim and it appeared as though they took him against his will. The van sped off northbound on Route 41.

Officers began to canvas the area. One Trooper stopped in to the Newport Skate Park in Newport, Delaware. Coincidentally, a few minutes before this Troopers got there, folks at the skate park said a white female with blonde hair walked up and asked if anyone had seen her son “George.”

Investigators are not quite sure if this incident is a bonefide kidnapping or simply a misunderstanding. Nevertheless, if anyone has a child that is unaccounted for, matching the below description, they are asked to call 911.

A reverse 911 call went out in the area where the alleged missing child was last seen.

Childs description: White male, 11 – 13 years old, average build, white tank top, black pants, carrying a helmet and wearing a baseball cap.

An additional news release will be disseminated only if this case is substantiated.
