Motor Vehicle Accident (Hydraulic Oil Spill)

Location of Incident: Cannon Road from Wesley Church Road to SR 17, both lanes of travel.

Date and Time of Occurrence: 7/08/09, 0245 hours.

Resume: Troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle that had impacted an Irrigation Pivot. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been traveling E/B on Cannon Road when it encountered an Irrigation Pivot that had traveled onto the road from an adjacent field, due to a faulty Stop Arm mechanism. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the Irrigation Pivot in the roadway causing severe damage to the vehicle, rendering both the Irrigation Pivot and the vehicle inoperable. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene after removing the license plates from the vehicle. The irrigation Pivot had to be removed from the vehicle by the towing company and a cursory check of the area did not result in the location of any injured or non injured parties. The vehicle was towed from the scene after the removal of the Pivot. Hydraulic Fluid had spilled onto the roadway, at the listed location, due to the crash. Bridgeville Fire Dept. responded to the scene, as well as Fire Police to render traffic control and containment of the Hydraulic Fluid until DNREC response for the cleanup of the fluid from the roadway. The Roadway was reopened after approximately 2 hrs.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call investigators at 302- 337-1090, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333

Guess the people who crashed forgot...the police still have you. Unless the VIN plate has been removed as well.

DNREC responded...Salisbury, do you see that? Mayor, Mr. Hoppes, why do we need a Hazmat trailer for $100,000+?
