Location of Incident: Route 1 southbound, south of Route 273 in New Castle, Delaware
Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, June 29, 2009, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Resume: State Troopers are currently on the scene of a single vehicle injury crash on Route 1 southbound, south of Route 273, in New Castle. This crash involves an overturned tractor trailer. RECOM, the State Police dispatch center in New Castle County, advises that both of the southbound lanes are closed at this time and traffic is being diverted onto Route 273. Motorists should seek alternative routes.

We were there sitting in stopped traffic for over an hour before they got us off the highway and re-routed. Ugh! Then about 6 miles down Route 1 when we finally got back on the highway, they were also putting a minivan and an SUV on tow trucks. The front ends of both were smashed. So that's 2 accidents within 6 miles of each other, one on Rt. 1 north, the other on Rt. 1 south and about the same time.
