OCPD MOURNS THE LOSS OF RETIRED POLICE SGT

The Ocean City Police Department is mourning the loss of a retired police sergeant, Ronald Haslam.

Sergeant Haslam was a dedicated member of the Ocean City Police Department for 28 years and was respected by his co-workers and his community.

His enthusiasm for law enforcement lead him to serve in all four divisions with in the Ocean City Police Department, including the Patro, Services, Administrative and Criminal Investigation Divisions. He led the department’s mounted patrol unit and was known throughout the community for his professionalism, kindness and courtesy.

Sergeant Haslam’s many accomplishments included his nomination for “Investigator of the Year” in 1988. I knew Ron. He was all this article said but more than that, he was a true patriot and a heckuva nice guy. His kind is not often seen these days. He will be missed.

Many years ago when I was heading up the CID, Ron was one of my detectives. He was a definite asset to the department and my division. He was a great officer. jackkkcharl@aol.com
