Perdue Closes Rt. 13 AGAIN!

I have just received word that a Perdue Truck has spilled quite a bit of vegetable oil onto Rt. 13 North in Olney. The north bound traffic is completely closed off.

Going back to the Post from the other day, they called it a Hazardous Condition and Hazmat is there to lay down sand bags. Man, I'll bet Chief See & Deputy Chief Gordy are sitting there right ow thinking, dag, we missed a big one!

What a missed opportunity for SFD.

They could have spanned the spill with that fancy new ladder truck and allowed stranded motorist to walk across.

The Perdue truck was struck by a Northbound truck, causing a break in its tank carrying veg. oil.

Not Perdue's fault.

The Perdue truck was rear ended by another tractor trailor which split open the tank on the Perdue truck. The Perdue truck was carrying between 6,500 to 7,000 gallons of veggy oil.CES enviromental service made a quick response with vaccum trucks and were able to collect 6,000 gallons of the oil from the ditch next to the accident scene. The oil was then transported to the Va Perdue plant which was unloaded to a waiting tanker truck.CES is now removing the dirt and replacing it with clean dirt tonight.Rt 13 is open.I did see somebody wearing a Salisbury fire department shirt that was working at the scene, not sure if SFD was called but somebody from Salisbury was there.
