Tightwad Alert – A freebie From Denny's TODAY ONLY!

It's not everyday that a restaurant gives away a meal. In fact, the chief executive officer of the nation's largest full-service family restaurant chain says its never been done. Until now, that is. Come tomorrow, Denny's is offering customers from coast to coast its signature Grand Slam breakfast for free between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The belly-busting breakfast consists of two eggs, two pancakes, two sausage patties, and two strips of bacon. Sorry, but you'll have to pay for the coffee, and 99 cents for any additional sides. We won't even talk calories. For more information on the dietary damage, click here.

Denny's has around 1,500 restaurants across the country, and all but one – a franchisee in California who's exiting the business -- are participating in the promotion, CEO Nelson Marchioli told me.

I asked Marchioli if there were any strings attached to the offer, such as a minimum purchase requirment, and he assured me that there weren't. But there are a few things you need to know. The deal is technically good only for meals eaten inside the restaurant, not takeout orders. But Marchioli says he's authorized managers to issue rain checks for customers who'd like to take advantage of the deal, but can't stay.

The promotion has a strict no-substitutions policy, though you can request, at no extra charge, Egg Beaters instead of the real deal.

Denny's is expecting the promotion will draw as many as 2 million incremental guests, a 550 percent increase over the chain's typical customer count on a Tuesday.

Why is the chain serving up such a generous portion of hospitality? "In these economic times, we all settle for fast food, and I wanted to remind America that Denny's is a great value," Marchioli says. "We talked about several types of offers, but at the end of the day, free works. We're throwing a party and want everyone to come." Hey my husband and I just went to dinner monday evening for the grand opening of SAGE Diner in Only Virginia. IT WAS FREE!! we had a choice of prime rib, turkey dinner or slice of ham with pineapple glaze. It also included two vegetables, dessert and beverage...cant beat that...For his 5th anniversary here in Salisbury SAGE Diner also gave away free dinner, anything on the menu and plenty of it. For the next two days it was 50% off, and then 40% off total bill. These restaurants are very clean, the waiters and waitress are very friendly and make your evening out an enjoyable one. The restaurat is locally owned so the money you spend here stays here. It is not a chain...We have been a customer there for over 5 years. We enjoy all the smith island cakes they serve there and they have the same flavors in Only Va. (The Eastern Shore).

We also have a restaurant that gives free food, all you can eat, on Veterans Day, GOLDEN CORRAL. They do not check ID's so it is open to the public. Normally for Vets and their families, but we are all family. Golden Corral just wants to show their appreciation. If more restaurants would do business like this it would cost less than advertizing in magazines and newspapers. When one person tell another its like turning to sby.news for the news (one person tells several)!
