owners are not more responsible.
Wonder what excuse they have for
them getting lost. " Oh , I just
let him out , on his own, to go
to the bathrm. After I got out
of the shower, I went to get him
& he wasn't there. Can't under-stand that, he has been before!"
Sounds like some of the tales you
here when people lose their animals
doesn't it? Usually, there's only
one out of 5oo that have a legitimate excuse. Makes me really
sad for these beautiful animals.

I'm in agreement with Anon 8:57. I have two dogs and a 6 foot privacy fence that was specifically bought and installed for them. We take great pride in our dogs and they are more like children. They got out once - to no one's fault but the person who let them out (who had no business coming in our back yard in the first place).
My point - you shouldn't rush to judgement.
Can we say "Leash Laws"?
No matter what you do sometimes dogs DO get out. Most dogs are smarter than some of the posters I have seen on here. It happens. No matter what you do and you think you have the problem fixed and they find another way to get out.
Anon 9:55 Sounds like the fence was a lost cause UNLESS you LOCK the gate! If your so "responsible" why was it so easy for someone else to let em out? Jebus!
How long do they stay there before they're offered for adoption?
I went to PA one day. Came home and someone had stopped by to look at my dog. Couldn't get a good close look through the pen so they let my two dogs out so they could see them better. They were able to get one back up but the other dog not knowing who the people were would not come back to them. I found her on the side of the road dead. She had been hit by a car but I guess this would have been my fault due to not having a lock on my dog pens. Just so you know, she was an Irish Setter and she was spayed. I had her for over 7 years when that happened. So I do believe I am a responsible dog owner, shame the other person couldn't have been more of a responsible visitor and left the dogpen door closed.
