IT’S NOW OFFICIAL: THE BODA-COMEGYS-SHIELDS TICKET

The candidate forum on February 12 that was sponsored by the local NAACP organization was time well spent. Orville Penn asked significant (and some tough) questions and promoted interchange, especially among mayoral candidates Comegys and Ireton. There were two highlights of the forum, which was held at the First Baptist Church.

The first occurred when another mayoral candidate, Bob Caldwell, arrived late because he had been delayed by a minor car accident while on his way to the forum. It seems that Superman can be slowed but not stopped.

The second happened later, when Mr. Penn asked the candidates for City Council who they preferred to become the next mayor. Both Shanie Shields (Dist. 1) and Muir Boda (Dist. 2) responded that they were supporting Gary Comegys. Tim Chaney (Dist. 1) said that he supports Jim Ireton. Cynthia Polk (Dist. 1) and Debbie Campbell (Dist. 2) indicated that they were not supporting any mayoral candidate.

So, anyone who feels that the Council majority has served well can vote for Mr. Comegys as mayor and also for the same type of Council majority to do his bidding like the current majority (Comegys, Shields and Smith) have done for Barrie Tilghman. As reported here on Salisbury News several days ago, the Boda-Comegys-Shields ticket is being promoted by one of Salisbury’s more notorious landlords (Richard Insley).

The surprise of the forum was Cynthia Polk – an attractive and articulate lady who seems to have a good grasp of things. With both her and Tim Chaney as opponents, Shanie Shields may be in for disappointment at the primary election on March 3rd.

And, facing both Jim Ireton and Bob Caldwell, the road could be rough for Gary Comegys, despite Richard Insley’s seal of approval letter to his tenants, even if Mr. Comegys survives the primary.

Kudos to the NAACP for sponsoring the event and also to the First Baptist Church, a very impressive venue, for hosting it.

It's really the "Richard Insley
- 3 B" ticket -- what more is needed to vote for anyone other than Boda, Bubba and brainless.

The primary is the time to stop Comegys and Shields, and each has good opponents to vote for. Then in the general election Boda should be stopped, too. Let's save Salisbury this time (are you listening, Louise Smith?).

I think I just threw up in my mouth. Bubba, Boda, and Shields? Yuck.

Joe:

The official spokesboy for the "3B" ticket (that's priceless) is trying to trash Ms. Campbell for appearing "tired" last night -- just 2 days after she had significant surgery. Even so she stood out against Boda, who sounded silly at times. He apparently does not realize that in the "strong mayor" form of government, the Council does not run the police (or other departments.

Spokesboy is also spinning the performance by Bubba. I'm still undecided between Jim Ireton and Bob ("Better late than never")Caldwell, but that's OK because in the primary we can cast two votes, one for Bob and for Jim, in order to bounce Bubba as soon as possible, and then decided between the two class horses in the mayors race.

Somebody's got a nice letter to the editor about Tim Chaney today.

Of course, some bobblehead had to trash him in the comments as being a clone of Joe.

What a crock. Nothing against Joe, but Tim Chaney is a laid back working man. He's been working his butt off for his neighborhood, much more than that commenter does for his, I'll bet.

I'm county, so I can't vote for anyone in these elections, but I sure hope you folks get the good people in, Chaney being one of them. I'm just about to give up hope for the city.

I wrote the letter to the Editor. My remark about Tim being a hardworking "Joe" was not to be utting him down. I meant that he is your average "Joe", working hard for a living, your next-door neighbor and a man of his word. I am not a bubblehead, just another average "Jane". I have known Tim for many years and am proud of him for stepping up to the plate for the residents of Salisbury.

Nanci, I understood what you said and meant. Anyone thinking differently is trying to stir the pot. Don't let them get to you.

Nanci & Joe --

Could it be that Shanie has finally learned how to us a PC?

Bubba and brainless both bounced in the primary -- now that would be sweet.

Give that "3B" ticket another week-10 days and the dirty tricks will begin. Recall what Barrie and the Daily Times did to Tim Spies two years ago and tried to do to Debbie Campbell in 2005.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Nanci, no one here is criticizing you.

The point was that a turkey on the Daily Times article comment site was knocking Tim Chaney as being a clone of Joe Albero.

Without knocking Joe Albero, someone was saying what a turkey the Daily Times turkey was for saying what he did.

One of the things Bubba-Boda-Shields slumlord ticket is trying to smear Tim Chaney with his "affiliation" to Joe Albero.

Pretty pathetic coming from the slimeballs affiliated with the grossest (in person and online) blogger on the planet.

Boda for City Council!

Oh yeah, just what we need a WalMart Custodian running the city.

You may live in the County and you don't have a vote, but you do have a vested interest in this. What ever the city does always affects the county.

What you could do and should do is write a check to the candidate/s of your choice.

This challenge goes out to all good citizens in this city and county.

Cynthia Polk will be another Von Sggers. Known her for a while. Ask anyone who worked wwith her at Dresser Industries.

That is right, what is good for the city is good for the county. How many more annexations do you county people want? I know Tim is tired of seeing farmland turn to townhouses.

Salisbury just got too big for it's pants. And to Nanci, no good deed goes unpunished and politics just makes it uglier, just let it roll off if that's the best they got. They sound like kids.

I've also known him long enough to know he's not in it for that little bit of money, he cares and feels he needs to do this for district one that only has one representitive who isn't doing a thing for her district.

She's had a few tokens thrown her way to make it look good. Even in this economy the north and east is still growing, the westside is rotting.

Boda doesn't pay his bill either so all three go hand in hand.

What does all that legal stuff mean?

Sorry to sound stupid, but one of the things is found for defendant?

Anyone explain?
