Joe, Nice effort to change things up. However, I think it is just a little busy graphically. The chopper in particular tends to overpower the readability of the name. Maybe a little smaller or in a different location.

It is way to busy, the graphics are off and it doesn't really show what SBYNews is. The resolution isn't good either.
But it is better that what you had before.

i think it's too busy and too "current news". i think you should have something simpler that would guarantee its relevance in the future.
how about letting people vote on several different options and see which is chosen? maybe you could invite creatively inspired readers to create and submit their own designs and choose one or let the readers vote on one of the submitted. a prize of a sbynews tshirt for the winning header would be pretty nice.
just a thought.

I saw the one that was busy and I just saw the one that is more simple with Joe's pic... I like the simpler one...just seems to stand out more and catch your eye. Great job!

I like the old one better. It just worked graphically. The embossing doesn't really do the banner justice.

I like the new look. Very professional-looking.
Either way is fine. This way it seems to make the page load slower and for some reason I had to adjust my firewall to get the top to show.

My opinion, long narrow shot of some historic/river/woods/park(your horses in the paddock) type of thing, with Salisbury News superimposed, then at the side
like a magazine, the photo of you Joe, with your comment on the side.

The first change was too "Alex Jones" This is better even though you have a good face for radio, Joe! :)
Awful. I think I liked the old one way better. It does not convey the sense of a news organization at all. Looks like something that was whipped up in Microsoft Paint. What's the point of having your face on it? Spend a few bucks and have a designer do it for you.

The other one was a little busy, but liked the general direction that you were heading in. A good graphics person could make the concept work well. The one that's up today is all about you. I thought you had moved away from that and more to news.

Nothing wrong with your looks, Joe, but it looks too ego driven, and that's the one complaint I hear about this blog, even by other supporters.

Use the font form the header that you tried this morning with some of the graphics on this one. Replace the firefighter with Fernando's photo, take the eagle out and move the chopper to the right side of the benner. Keep the graffiti. The firefighter one isn't sharp enough to work with an edgy graphic and with the eagle gone it's less cluttered. Just a thought.
The one with fernando looks great!
I don't know how many there have been, but I like the one that is on there as I'm typing this. Very eye catching and much better than the original.
