FLAGSTAFF, Arizona — A 9-year-old charged with killing his father and another man has been offered a plea deal that would spare him any jail time, his attorney said Thursday.
The St. Johns boy is scheduled for a change of plea hearing on Feb. 19. Defense attorney Benjamin Brewer said his client still must accept the deal.
Brewer declined to offer specifics, including what plea the boy could enter and whether it would involve the two counts of premeditated murder he faces.
"We believe this agreement addresses any potential needs out there as well as secures he does not get messed up going to juvenile corrections, or adult prison for that manner," Brewer said.

None of us know why this boy killed these men. We can make assumptions that the men were possibly abusing him, but I truly feel that is only to justify such a horrible act by this boy. It puts the general publics mind at ease to feel as though a child would have to feel an extensive threat in order to kill someone.
What I don't understand is situations like I am currently in. I reported my own child to the police for what I consider the worst crime imaginable. I pressed the system to have more charges brought against him because I know he is a threat to society. I know he is not only going to do the same acts again but he is going to end up killing an innocent person.
He matches nearly all signs of "school shooters" that is listed on the FBI warning signs list. He has no concern for others safety or well being and he has no conscious about hurting anyone.
He makes statements out of the blue such as "I wonder what it would be like to kill a cop?", or "I wonder what it feels like to get shot?" If I, as his mother, can admit he is a danger to innocent lives, why did a judge go against the recommendation of the psychatrist that performed the evaluation and let this 13 year old roam amongst innocent children and the general public as a whole? I have begged and pleaded to have him placed somewhere that he could hopefully get help but at the very least be accounted for at all times so he is not able to hurt another innocent life. The judicial system is an outright disappointment. This woman had the nerve to tell me I am a bad mother for not standing by him and supporting him through this! He made the choice to hurt people and he should be held accountable for that. I shouldn't hold his hand and pat his head so that he feels he can do it again and again with no punishment. She is the one who allowed her emotions to get the best of her and judged accordingly.
I have to fear every night he is going to come back to my home for revenge. I have to install security cameras and alarm systems around my home because a judge decided it was in the perpetrators best interest to let him walk. I have to live with the fact that he is going to come back to seek revenge and there isn't a darn thing I can do about it. It is really a mess when a parent who tries with all she has to do the right thing for all involved is dismissed like a criminal. It is alsoa shame that I may at some point have to come to the realization I may at some point have to use every possible means to protect myself and my other children against him. It's a failure on the judiciary systems part and something needs to change.
You are not alone. I have had to go through the same thing with a daughter for three years, in fear of my life every day.
We had the Drill Academy, but it was shut down be the majority vote. That is because the "Majority" of parents are clueless to the degree of danger present with leaving these kids free and untouched.
Unfortunately, usually someone has to die before the problem is addressed. Anitra Pirkle died at the hands of kids who decided to go out one night and kill a random person for SPORT. We will now hear (and have already heard) from the parents and the "Majority" out there that this was somehow a situation that got out of hand and the poor young children didn't know how to handle the progressive changes in the 20 minute "situation" and didn't really mean... well, you know. They will get off with light sentences for the sole reason of the opinions of the clueless "majority".
Mine is turning around now after her 4th year, and I'm here to write about it. I hope yours does the same, and you live through it, too. God bless.
Orsonwells.. Thank you, I hope we make it through without someone being killed.
I feel that in a situation such as this, if there is a future victim the judge who decided to decline the recommendations of the evaluator should be held accountable for the crimes as well. After all, if the judges would listen when a trained specialists tells him/her there is a threat to society less people would be out on the streets who are capable and diagnosed as a risk to other lives.
