Senate Passes Digital Delay Again

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The U.S. Senate has again voted to delay the transition to digital television.

Thursday night, the Senate unanimously voted - again - to postpone the transition date from February 17th until June 12th.

They are concerned that many Americans won't be able to make the switch before TV stations shut off their analog signals.

The Senate passed a similar measure that was defeated in the House, which will take up the amended bill next week.

Everyone should buy the digital converter box.
You need it if you have cable as a backup, when the cable goes out or you won't be able to get WBOC, WMDT or PBS.
IF you have the $40.00 off card you could get the box on sale for $15.00.

its only been a couple of years in the coming. i guess people were waiting for the government to pay for the box.

oh wait they already are. no excuse for not being ready

hopefully the house will defeat the bill again

A good friend of mine was over last night and he got the digital box and he got the coupons for it, still cant get the Super bowl on nbc though.

If you don't have a coupon, get a box anyway. Then, whenever you get your coupon, take it, the receipt and the cardboard box to the store for your $40.00 refund.

I agree with 9:56---geeze, this reminds me of those Christmas Eve shoppers who get upset when a store is out of what they want. Did they forget that Christmas was on the 25th?

I think we've all had ample notice. Let's get on with it, already.

The problem isn't people not getting the boxes.

The problem is once they get the boxes, and a great antenna, there reception will most likely be crap.

WBOC will probably be one of the best, but most rural viewers will need a much much stronger antenna to get similar consistency to the analog signal.

There is still LOTS and LOTs of static and interference with digital. And when it rains, or the wind blows, or the sun shines too much, forget about hearing a complete sentence.

The analog signal may have had static, but it was stronger with much more consistent audio.

This is a mess, that congress created, and now they don't know what to do.

And in case ya don't believe me, I live in Wilmington, NC - the test market for DTV in the whole nation.

We had a Tropical Storm pass over 2 days before the switch. I could watch the analog and hear everything fine with a little audio and visual static. The digital signal was unwatchable. Same station, but unwatchable because of all the interference.

Get ready for this. Get the biggest strongest antenna you can find.

IN case any of you have not noticed, 2 out of the 3 local stations have already gone 100% digital and switched off their analog transmitters.

Only WBOC is left with a redundant analog signal....and their countdown clock is still set for Feb 17.

A friend of mine on the Western Shore bought one and she WAS cable ready or whatever it is called, but bought one anyways. She said she gets channels now that she never recevied before.
