Salisbury Gears Up To Pollute Chesapeake Bay

If you couldn't picture in your mind just how HUGE the pipes will be stored on Waverly Drive right now across from the Laundromat and behind Goodwill, look what this Mayor and Comegys have done! These pipes will serve as run off pipes directed at running right down to the Wicomico River with absolutely NO FILTRATION whatsoever and run directly into the Chesapeake Bay.

Where's Mr. Pretl now? Come on Mr. Environmentalist, what say you now? Where's Norm Conway? Where's Frank Kratovil? You can literally drive a small car through these pipes! All the motor oil from vehicles, trash, you name it. It's all getting run off through these pipes in the near future in such a volume they had to use this size pipe with no filtration.

The next time I hear our Congressman complaining about Farmers killing the Chesapeake Bay I'm going to urge these same Farmers to save this article and throw it right back in their face! I wonder what kind of spin the Daily Times will put on this reality?

I was wondering what was going on back there. Looks like the road is going to be for a long time, based on the closure/delays on the Rt. 13 N drainage project. Great.

Wow, how does Gary reconcile his voting record on the river, these pipes as evidence of what he's voted for, and his stolen platform on his website where he declares his goals are to work to "improve our environment" and "commit to a cleaner Wicomico River?" Is he planning to send detergent down the pipes as well in a misguided effort to clean up the Wicomico? Who ever votes for him votes for a liar and more of the same.

I'm sure Joe's investigative skills dug up ALL the answers! You'll complain one way or the other!!

anonymous 9:32,

Why are you so afraid to use your name. Are you Gary Comegys himself? I see no reason why you wouldn't use your name to make such a statement, unless you're scared of me.

Nevertheless, you're exactly right. I would have and did complain about this particular issue. There's no reason to do this without filtration.

So, keep bringing it on. Let's see what you've got. So YOU believe this is perfectly fine? My guess is that you're one of those wet pant liberals that wants the Chesapeake Bay clean but you stand on the side of your boat pissing into it whenever you go fishing.

What project is this for??? What does this change from what is happening to the current drainage pattern?? Need more info.

Sir:

Pretl is probably ensconced at his estate on the Nanticoke River near Sharptown. It's in the same area that he wants to keep from being developed any more. That man is a true NIMBY.

It will also serve as an amusement park ride. TUBING TO THE RIVER.

Joe -
In response to your reply back. I'll use my name... "Barack Albero" but will you accept them??

joe albero said...

You see Folks. I knew it was an Anti Albero Blogger. Not ONE of them is man enough to stand up to me. Heck, not ALL of them are man enough to face me at one time.

Also unburned hydro-carbons from exhaust pipes (gasoline) that end up on the roads. Right down to Turd River. Where is the EPA? Where's the Chesapeake Bay Foundation? Aren't they trying to sue the EPA?

"Where's Norm Conway?"

Is there a function for him to attend so he can fill his chubby little belly?

anonymous 12:46,

You make a good point FOR ME. The idea that you have the freedom of speech to make such a comment brings me to the REST of YOU ragging on me for my opinion about Obama and Kratovil. It's NOT that they're Democrats. It's about the decisions they make, what they represent and my right to say what I believe. It doesn't make me right all the time. It simply allows me to say it.

SO STOP with the Obama and Kratovil attacks against my opinion and others. It's NOT like we'll be ragging on them all the time. I just think you believe I'll be on them like I am on Barrie Tilghman and or that I'm bitter Kratovil and Obama won. I'm not at all bitter. I just think those people who voted for them are Idiots. LOL

These 72inch or 6 foot drainage pipes are being installed to aid in the drainage of properties in the Waveryly Drive/Camden area. These yards flood terribly after a good rainfall. The problem is not with the pipes as Debbie Campbell has so often stated. The problem is installation of these pipes to allow faster drainage into the river without the use of FILTRATION. The filtration is not nearly as costly as Gary Comegys led everyone to believe, once again proven by Debbie Campbell with literature from a supplier of these filtration components.

Don't think Waverly Drive is the only place these monster dump pipes are being installed. They are installing the same thing at Isabella St, at the head of the North Prong.

I have to ask, is Gary Comegys still proud of his Environmental task force?

"Anti Albero Blogger"

Com'on Joe... your site is supposedly "unbiased" and "opinionated".

Why can't others have their own "opinions"?

joe albero said...

When you're man enough to use your name, then I'll start putting up ANY comment you want here.

But you can't do that because you're so scared of one man, Joe Albero.

Not to worry though. Your time is coming and each and every one of you know it. You made some HUGE mistakes lately and fell for the trap of all traps. Stupid is as stupid does.

The water already drains to the river. The existing pipes are undersized. The new pipes will just allow runoff to get to the river without backing up and flooding peoples homes and businesses like it does now. So everyone's claims that we're increasing pollution is false and unbiased. It will also improve safety for drivers becasue it will reduce water ponding on the roadways. Learn to get the facts before spouting off about something you don't know anything about.

Having said that, I agree that the garbage that gets to the river is disgusting. I have to look at it on a daily basis. The city would be well served to install screens to filter debris and to develop a maintenance schedule to keep them cleaned out.

Anonymous said...

Having something else scheduled like a maintenance item is useless in this town. Examples in the past year: the city has replaced a worn out car with only 78 thousand miles on it, I suppose the maintenance crew never had an oil change or tune up order. The street sweeper has by past several parts of the city it use to go over. Just because the mayor and her puppets write it down doesn't mean it will be done but to them it looks good because they signed it. I am sending pictures to the EPA and all of the state legisaltive people, everyone follow suit and see if we can get a good set of eyes to look at this problem.

I, for one, get tired of hearing Chesapeake Bay Foundation and others blame chicken farmers for every bay ailment when there are things like this going on.No screens or filters on a big bore tunnel like those? Every beer bottle and McDonalds wrapper in the gutters will be floating out to sea.

Joe
This project will take about 14 to 15 months to complete, it goes down Waverly to S Blvd out to the hiway and down to the donut shop and back to Lloyd or Smith St.

This comment shows just how widespread the ignorance is. Yes, water drains to river, but under healthy circumstances, it would take days, not the minutes that these pipes will facilitate. If your house or business floods, that's probably because it was built in a former swamp. We keep piping water like this to the Bay and it's never going to recover, regardless of whether we take the Snickers wrappers out or not.

This half-a@@ fence that is around these pipes nearly killed me and crushed my car....when one whole long side of the fence came crashing down onto the road from the severe winds we had one day last week. I swerved harshly in order to avoid it hitting me/in my car but nearly wreaked avoiding it. Thank God a car was NOT coming in the opposite direction b/c I would have hit them head on for sure. I jerked (reaction) the car steering wheel so hard and fast to avoid the fence coming at me, I nearly lost control of of the car.

It shook me up so bad when I safely got control of my car I pulled to the side and cried like a baby thanking God something horrible did not happen.

I think this crappy excuse for fencing is dangerous and "proping it up" is farrr from fixing the problem.

hummm, What do you think Joe? My life was endangered by this mess of so-called fencing...maybe a lawsuit back to Ms Mare would help her lay off picking on you fora while. LOL

Had they done that, the existing drainage would be sufficient.
We live in the area and RARELY see accumulation of water EXCEPT in front of Bennett and between Monticello and Powell avenues. May I say, if your yard is 15 or 20 feet below street level you can expect water accumulation.
Put filter screens on all roadway drainage ports and KEEP them cleaned out. A lot less costly endeavor.

A screen over drains will keep floatables out but not the chemicals, animal and human waste, oil, unburned hydro-carbons and all the other contaminents listed above. Spit, blood, urine bla bla bla

Anonymous said...

853:, er ah gary, blah,blah,blah
These huge pipes will not keep chemicals out, either. my god, not even bodies.
Chemicals and other liquids can only be filtered through the ground.(unless, of course you set up special filtration devices, which isn't going to be done.)

Anonymous said...

11:25 read my post again I said screens will stop floatables but won't stop chemical contaminents. No offense taken or given Peace.

I sure ain't bubba Lmao r-necks-mare. Police and firefighters never forget.

Webster has been polluting salisbury since hes been chief so whats the difference?

Anonymous said...

these big pipes will rush chemicals into the river way faster than ever before.
sorry, but that sounded exactly ole gary would say...err, ahh...ummm
no offense please. offense intended for gary.
can you just hear him "screens will keep out floatables, not chemicals" i.e. chemicals will get there faster.
he's such a dolt.
