Trap Pond

"Joe,

Here's a few photos I thought I would share. They are from Trap Pond's Nature trail. The trails are an excellent way to enjoy the outside and get some exercise. The bike trail is 5 miles long and easy for any level rider/walker.

There are streams and creaks and benches to sit down and enjoy the scenery. Most of all this great park is free until I believe March. Then its 3$ for DE residents and 6$ for MD residents.

Oh and please don't forget the Frisbee Golf Course. The cheapest golf around, not to mention the most fun method of golfing. In either activity a family can get out and do something inexpensive and most importantly together. I am out there every week and just love the solitude. Many people don't even know about the treasure they have in their own back yards.

Cliff"

Thanks Cliff. I'm sure many people will appreciate knowing this information and it should also serve as a reminder of something to do when others have some free time.

Trap Pond is a real gem - it's quiet and peaceful. I wanted to add to the original post that it also has a great, new playground, cabins for camping, and nature programs for adults & kids in the spring & summer, including campfire stories in the evenings and story times.

Also - you can get a DE park pass that will get you in all year and in to the park in Felton with th ewaterslides and the DE beach parks free all year.

The Trap Pond office sells them.

9:35. First, put down the coffee. Second, I am guessing the Frisbee golf IS free-it is general admission into the park {buy the yearly pass} that costs a little cabbage {what? did you think they make you make a Frisbee "tee-time" too}. Finally, if you want to kvetch and moan about spending a couple bucks on a healthy, fun day for the family-let's talk a little more about that "not-free-admission" waterfowl museum you mention. I spent a week there one morning. The conversation in the background, as I was faking an emergency to get called away on my cellphone, went something like this-"Look honey, over here..ANOTHER duck decoy." In 100 words or less explain to all of us why, in a region where you can't swing a cat {Disclaimer: no cats were actually swung during this analogy} without seeing some form of domestic, LIVE waterfowl-all that money was spent on a new buiding so that(none of)the public could come in (OUT OF the fresh air, exercise and sunshine) and look at duck decoys? Whose little useless pet project was that!
