Are you having the same problem I'm having, I can't find pellets for my pellet stove?
I thought since so many people have purchased pellet stoves in the past couple of years, perhaps we should start advertising who has them in stock and how much they're charging per bag or per ton.
Sam's Club received 14 tons last week and they sold out in a day or two. I called them this morning and asked them when they might expect them in again and they said they hadn't reordered them.
Winter is just beginning and I personally can't believe they're not on the ball with this. I will add, WalMart doesn't have any either. Not the North Salisbury WalMart anyway.
Survival Products usually carries them but they charge much more per bag than anyone else. I believe the Tractor Supply carries them too.
OK, here's the scoop.
Sam's Club. $4.88 per bag
WalMart $5.75 per bag
Tractor Supply $5.99 per bag
NONE IN STOCK! No one can tell me when they will have any back in stock either. I called the Tractor Supply and they told me that their computer is telling them they are "out of season" meaning they can't even order them.
When I called Survival Products, no one answered the phone. When I got to their answering machine it said the mailbox was full. I'll bet if you went to any National Company that sells propane, oil and the likes of such you'd see hundreds of tractor trailer loads of pellets stored on their property?
OK, so do YOU know where they can be found and for how much?

Try Byler's Store in Dover. They sell pellet stoves as well as bulk food, and groceries at a reduced price. They have a website, not sure what it is, but you can google it.
The trick is to find a local hardware store who will pre-order them for you in the summer. That's what we do.
You aren't advocating a blatantly socialist "redistribution of pellets" scenario here are you?
Pellets are made from wood waste that primarily comes from construction and furniture companies. Both industries are down thus waste is down; if the pellet companies have to buy raw wood for there product then prices will rise.
Best to buy in summer!!
Go to southern states on mill street $2.76
a bag or $2.96 I can't remember exactly.
saw the advertisement monday.
Barton's Southern States had pellets in stock
5.99/bag or 274.50/ton 800-564-5050
RT 13 North Seaford DE No Tax
went to survival products yesterday, they always have them in stock, $6/bag and they load them for you. Also, i called tractor supply and they told me they had ordered more and were just waiting on a shipment but didn't know when it would be in. I know Southern States has pelleted lime for that price but would be surprised if they had wood pellets that cheap. if so, i'll start going there!
FARMERS & PLANTERS Co. Mill St., Salisbury has them for $259 per ton
BTW...if you read closely here you will learn something new everyday. 11:26's input here is as good a barometer on how crappy our economy is right now as anything that psycho talking-head Cramer(?) will scream at you on TV....Those two sentences in that wise comment show how the housing market, stock market, employment data and (poor) energy policy all have actually come together (all with suddenly empty pockets)) as the "Perfect American (poo) Storm."
Isn't that amazing !! Probably just a ploy! Have the consumer believe ther's a shortage and now we can get $10.00 a bag!! Might as well make a hefty profit like all the other energy sources!
Be sure when you purchase Heat Wood Pellets they are Maryland Sales Tax exempt.
E S Hubberts in Cambridge 259.00 a ton Monday.
I went to Bill Hariss Hardware in Pocomoke City yesterday to buy pellets.
$249 a ton
He told me he sold ten tons the day before, was on track to sell ten tons yesterday and had no idea when they would get more.
I asked if there was a shortage and he said there is supposedly a shortage of sawdust.
All summer everywhere we checked, no shortage of pellets, this winter will be no problem.
Pellets ARE a renewable resource and now there is a fake shortage to raise the prices.
Let the Dubmocrats blame Bush for this one..
Can't you use corn?
Go to 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Go to the side door and knock three times, wait three seconds, knock four times, wait four seconds, knock two times wait two seconds and knock once more. Then whistle Dixie and someone will open the door. They will be wearing a red hat and ask who sent you. Tell them "Joe, Joe sent me". You have to say it exactly like that. Then they will lead you down a long dark hallway. You will past many prostitutes and drug dealers because after all you are in Salisbury. At the end of the hall there will be two windows. Tap on the one on the right, no left and a deaf man will ask you what you want. Tell him you want pellets for your stove. He'll send a blind man with you to get as many bags you want, but make sure the blind man gives you the ones in the blue bag, they are the best.
no one is sell lumber, sawmills arent running...no sawdust...no pellets...pellet manufactors in talks with gov bail-outs
not to worry, obama has promised to start rationing all heating fuels before the 2010 winter season begins
give me liberty or give me death
Stop killing the ozone! Go geothermal...upfront cost but you won't ever have this worry again!
Last year it was reported that one of the major plants that processes pellets had burned to the ground and that distribution would be affected because there are only a few plants that produce them to begin with.
Also, add corn. Your pellets will last longer
Let's get some things perfectly clear here.
#1. Corn cost a small fortune right now and burns much faster than the pellets, fact.
#2. Southern States has plenty of pellets and the price is fantastic. $5.18 a bag.
The corn is about $7.00 a bag, so you know.
how long does a bag last?
aaaaaahhhhhh but the corn burns hotter.........????
Bryan and Brittingham Delmar, De. Joe how could you forget this great store!!
The hardware store in Mardela on Rt.50 carries them...
8:19 1 bag will last us about a day. In really cold weather (under 30*) we use about 1 1/2 bags/day. So a ton of pellets lasts us about a month. We also have a thermometer on our stove which helps a great deal. The stove is set to about 60* during the day when the kids are gone and goes up to about 65* when they are home.
