This Just In

Joe,

"It is 5:45 p.m. and I just passed Chief See enroute to Salisbury with his entire family in the Salisbury Fire Chief car. That's right, I just passed him and his family on Mt. Hermon Road.

I was going to turn around and take a photograph, but, I decided to not waste my time.

What a frigging joke. All at the taxpayers expense with gasoline at $3.50/gallon."

As a taxpayer, I'm sick & tired of paying for these "perks" of free cars & gas for Cty, City & Gov. employees!!!!!In case no ones noticed we're headed for a terrible recession if not depression. Don't think so huh, just ask the ones who've lived through it & base those facts against what's happening in America today. In the next few yrs. , we've borrowed so much money from China, they're going to own our "Good Ole USA".
It is time we the people stand up & DEMAND our goverments stop this abuse of it's citizens. Everyone has to make sacrafices in times of trouble. They should be the FIRST TO SHOW THIS EXAMPLE!! Stop this needless spending.

That should not be allowed, even if they were on official business. We tax payers provided that car for use by the chief only when on fire business, not going shopping or to dinner with the whole family.

I am a government employee who was offered a government car as a "perk" of the job. I travel a great distance to work each day, but declined the offer and requested a very small (0.20/mile) reimbursement for using my own car. Not beating my own chest to proclaim my honor, but I think taxpayers would be better served if agencies offered a per diem auto allowance to department heads. This would alleviate the abuse of having a taxpayer-funded gas guzzler in the driveway to tempt an employee everytime he needs to run an errand.
Just my $0.02 worth...

He should not even be issued a car and fuel, especially since his lazy ass lives in the state of Delaware.

Does Wannabe Fire Chief David See pay for mileage like some city employees do?

Funny because as I was picking leaving my daughter's field hockey practice at the Naylor Mill Athletic Complex tonight, I saw another SFD staff member (not the chief) with his whole family in the car. I found myself asking, "What exactly does he need that car for?" Is he going to respond to some fire in the middle of the night in his pajamas? Aren't there always supervisors working, so what is he going to do by showing up on scene that he couldn't do by going to the station first to get the FD vehicle? I'm sick of paying for their gas too.

That was probably Chief Hoppes. He lives off Mt. Herman Rd. and has a family. Chief See usually rides alone, since he is so miserable and all his wives have left him.

Its outrageous! The rest of us are struggling to buy gas just to drive to work and these guys just cruise around on the taxpayers dime.Gas alone is bad enough, but they also do not pay for registration, insurance, tires, regular maintenance and all the other things that we all struggle to keep up on.If they have to have drive-home cars then make it just that-drive home and to work locations and thats IT!

Entire Family? He doesn't have one. He might have had a car full of people but trust me, it wasn't his family.

It was Deputy Chief Hoppes & he was going to his child's soccer game at the complex. He takes the car to all the soccer games (even down to Willards). One game during the week & one on Saturdays each week. He must not have alot of faith in his Asst. Chiefs to ALWAYS be ready to respond even on weekends....& from Willards!!

Abuse of employment, abuse of privileges, abuse of taxpayer monies, just plain pilfering, mooching and THEFT!
Just goes to show - some folks wake up in the morning wondering, "What can I take today?". The rest of us spend our time wondering, "What can I give today?"

I suggest they take a HIKE!

Yep, I see Fatso Hoppes abusing the privilege many times with his family in the car. It is not a "perk" and shouldn't be treated as one. If Fatso needs a city car then he needs to live in city limits and as far as it being a family mini van he should be fired for that.

How about a local state trooper/local realtor who was reprimanded not once but on 3 separate occasions for conducting real estate business on state time. Now, he has been moved to Easton and we taxpayers pay for him to drive his state police car back and forth to Easton every day!

Anon 121 we are not talking about a trooper we are talking about Fatso Hoppes so get back to work Rick.
