I don't know, it looks a little fishy. here's a quote from the article you sent us to: "Aurora Public Schools Superintendent John Barry says the suspension was not because Daxx Dalton wore a shirt with a political message. It was the result of a dispute that began on the playground before school started that spilled into a math class.

He says no student is allowed to wear anything that becomes a distraction in the learning environment, regardless of the political message. Administrators say in this case, the shirt caused a distraction.

Barry says Daxx's sister also wore an anti-Obama shirt to class that day. She was not suspended. He also says the district "Respects a student's right to free speech, such as the right to wear specific clothing," but administrators say they review any situation that interrupts the learning environment."

Sounds a little like Dad is using his kid to get on the news--the sister also wore an anti-Obama shirt and was not suspended.

I don't know...you walk into my school wearing a shirt that says "terrorist" on it and you'd get sent home. Period. Political statement or not.

And, let's be clear...courts have been very clear in saying that children do NOT have the same civil liberties as adults, including free speech.

Would your boss let you wear a shirt that said "a terrorists best friend" at the office? How about a button that said the same thing? I think the answer for most people is no, since it would disrupt the workplace by instigating conflict with either co-workers or clients.

I got sent home from school wearing a "Mr. Zoggs" shirt in the 70's. go figure.

I had a Mr. Natural T shirt that said "BE LIKE 2 FRIED EGGS, KEEP YOUR SUNNY SIDE UP". I was sent home from school because my dog ate my homework. The bus I rode to school wasn't quite as long as the others.

Pretty much all public schools have dress codes that discourage shirts or buttons with political messages,so even a kid with a an anti-McClain shirt would be violating the code.

So much for fee speach. More kids his age should voice their opinion. I guess his biggest fault is that he not a whacko liberal who hates America.

Amendment rights can be suspended in a school system to protect the rights of all the other students to learn. A student can be suspended or "asked to leave for a few days" for anything disruptive. I was told I had to leave school for several days due to a bad hair cut and once for a bad poison ivy rash.

I would rather see this kid in school with this shirt on then what you see all of the time with these kids and pants that are 3 sizes too big with there underwear showing. That too is a political statement and yes for the most part racial. Get real the administration didn't like what he was wearing so they wanted him to turn his shirt inside out. Its too bad he hadn't thought out the situation and painted the same thing on the inside , then he would have been complying with their unlawful request. I do not think that an 11 year old needs to be a advertisement for a political statement , however I believe his rights have been violated here. Would the administration there have suspended a student for wearing a vote for Obama shirt- I highly doubt it.

I wonder how fast the NAACP would have gotten up in arms if this had been a black kid wearing an anti-McCain shirt?
