Eastern Shore Running Out Of Gas?

"I had lunch with my brother at lunch. He works for Taylor Oil and could tell me Eastern Shore is almost out of gas. You may want to top off your tank. Baltimore is having trouble with the pipelines from Texas. CATO is already out of fuel on Marine Road. Apparently all the surplus is limited or gone."

Does anyone else out there know more about this situation?

Um...this would all be great if we got our oil via pipeline...pretty sure the port of Baltimore has TANKERS come in and bring the fuel.

NO THE BALT PORT DOESNT HAVE TANKERS TO COME HERE BESIDES THEY ONLY CARRY 8400 GAL IN A TANKER IT ALL COMES ON A BARGE IN THE WICOMICO FROM BALTIMORE PORT

Ho-Hum....and BTW-Ho Chi Minh just stole your bike...(give me a nudge if you hear unfounded rumors that we are "running out" of vodka)

Taylor oil is a tiny supplier of
petro-products . I know that they
do not supply chevron gas to the station on Nanticoke Road . They have switched to PURE .I do know that Wades has finally lowered their price of gas in Nanticoke
to the $3.60 range. They were supplied by Taylor. Hunker-down
it may be a long one!

Check the weather....barges won't come up the river in bad weather....it's not a crisis, it's been this way for the past 10 months with shortages. Check the facts.

I'm a bit confused here since it is my understanding that much of the fuel for our area came out of a refinery in Yorktown VA. I know that in the past, especially in summer months, suppliers have run out of regular fuel and are forced to fill regular tanks w plus or super. (Which explains why your car sometimes runs better even though you always fill up at the same store) This is one time I really hope your info is wrong. Besides, if there really was a shortage, wouldn't the prices already be going up?

Do you honestly think that the prices would have dropped .05 cents last night if we were running out? I don't think so!

Tankers only caryy 8400 gallons? What kind of piddly ass tanker are you talking about? Calm down everyone, you are going to start an unnecessary panic.

Tractor trailer tankers carry 10 -12 tousand gallons. The ones that goe to individual gas stations. The barges and tanker ships carry so much more than that.

This type of communication is the same type of satire that caused people to think aliens were landing back in the "old" days.

THE KIND OF GASOLINE TANKER THEY HOLD 8400 GAL OF GAS I KNOW SOMEONE WHO DROVE FOR BILL GORDY BUT AFTER 32 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT, THAT STARTED WHEN BILL GORDYS FATHER OWNED THE BUSINESS, HE WAS LET GO WITH NO RETIREMENT. GOOD JOB GORDY?????

Gasoline weighs app. 6.2 pounds to the gallon. 8400 gallons x 6.2 = 52,080 lbs or 26 tons. Legal combination weight is 80,000 lbs so that piddly ass tanker is actually carrying its maximum load.

And all this time I thought that most of the gas sold in this area was trucked down from the same terminal in upper Delaware (Newark or New Castle?).

Those Eagle tanker trucks that will be spotted at almost any station!

the tankers referred to were big ol' boats going up to Baltimore, way more than 8,400 gallons.

You guys need to read more carefully. the "tankers" in question are the ships heading to Baltimore--they can carry tens of thousands of gallons of gas, so quit worrying about some pipeline! We've got plenty of gas. An individual company or station might run short, but we are not inthe same situation as Atlanta, which gets its gas largely from the areas disrupted by Ike in texas.

Nice Joe, spread rumors. Your integrity goes right out the window every time you do this. Did you think to call any one of the suppliers to verify this?

My father owns a gasoline hauling business, locally....he has actually been on several long trips taking gas to North Carolina to help them in their situation. The gas we have here comes from barges, which have been delayed due to the weather we're currently experiencing. It would not be the first time that Salisbury has run out of gas to be delivered to the local stations....don't worry, it's coming...just a few days later than scheduled.

If the fuel tanks are empty on marine rd the shore will shut down in a matter of a couple days unless there is a re supply. has anyone tried calling there to get the facts?

You can tell by the way the person who sent you this information writes that he is not a credible source.

You need to quit bellyaching or being jealous. We have delivered information BEFORE ITS TIME and you only want to challenge it. If you don't like what you're reading, move on. We have provided a second article to prove there is a problem at hand. Comments have also supported that with a storm coming in Salisbury will see a problem as well.

Being #1 and bringing you the news first sure isn't easy.

I'm glad for the heads up,will be filling my vehicles up tomorrow

Well, like the other article states - they are not able to get gas in the south. I have a friend in North Carolina. She passed six stations in a row on the way home two days ago and all were out of gas.

3:08---You beat me to the punch with the "lunch at lunch" thing, but tell me: What kind of uniform does BS wear?

Both terminals in Salisbury have been recently supplied; even if they were to run out, gas would be supplied to Salisbury from Baltimore or Del City. Furthermore, Peter Franchot (Comptroller of MD) has authorized the release of winter gas supplies 14 days early. (Winter gas has more vapor pressure to help your car start in cold weather.)

So everybody relax! This info came directly from the Comptroller's office.
