anon 11:15.. You failed to mention that you work as a housekeeper in the hospital. It's obvious you don't work in any specialty other than cleaning toilets, because your grammar and spelling are atrocious.
I will call you out and ask you to name one Physician who verbally stated they are only here to pay off school loans or it's a requirement. The students who go to Medical School under federal payment are sent to areas where nobody will work, because they don't make squat, such as the very rural Midwest and poor areas like inner cities (New Orleans, etc.) They don't place them in one of the richest states in the Country. How would I know? I am one of those Physicians working at PRMC who did my 7 years in some Podunk town in Nebraska.
To the genius talking about the Hippocratic oath, go back to 2nd grade. You'll learn how to spell "hypocrite" and use it properly in a sentence. The two words have no similar meaning.
If any of you geniuses know so much about health care administration, I implore you to come interview for a job. I'm sure you can fix the problems in a heartbeat, seeing how all of you are Monday morning quarterbacks. Thanks for the laughter, I've shared this with my colleagues!

Your arrogance doesnt seem to fit a health care provider, good luck with that.
Wow - another reason to avoid PRMC.
WTF are you talking about, Dr.?
What an arrogant SOB! Guess what, doc, some of us out here are highly educated--I'd be happy to get into a long discussion with you about Hippocrates. I'd be willing to bet I know a hell of a lot more about him than you do, doc. I also clearly know a hell of a lot more about being a decent human being. So why don't you cut out this comment and paste it to your little "announcement" board over there at the hospital, and show everyone what an arrogant little jerk you are, and you can all titter and laugh at the dumbass Ph.D with multiple books under my name who called you out for being a total and complete jerk today. You can try to feel superior by picking on someone who didn't know "hypocrisy" from "Hippocratic," but do you know the difference between sympathy and empathy, you miserable, condescending, poor excuse for a health care provider? Respectfully, of course.
Glad to see you respect the housekeeping staff...real classy.
My son is in third grade now. I don't remember the word "hypocrite" on any of his second grade spelling tests. He sure is lucky he passed. Does that mean he will be cleaning toilets for a living at the hospital with arrogant doctors talking down to him all day?
Dr. Stevens, I would never question that you work for PRMC. Your arrogance is contagious there.
The President and other heirarchy at PRMC must be SO PROUD! Their Dr. Stevens went on the blog and defended their honor!
Now, in the process of doing so, the "good" doctor managed to show the entire SBY area what a horses ass a PRMC physician can be. Not that most of us didn't already know.
However, with the negative nature of the discussion, I think I'd have kept quiet on this one. The rebuttal fell flat. PRMC loses.
As a health care provider I cannot believe the snobbish attitude of this supposed 'healer'. What is more important, getting the grammer correct or the writers' message? It's attitudes like Dr. Stevens' that keeps malpractice attorneys busy defending docs that could have avoided litigation with a KIND word instead of looking down on those who put food on your table.
My little guy (1 yr old premature baby) was in pain, screaming and shaking with a 102 temperature. Pack him up in the middle of the night and rushed to PRMC. Checked in and waited just a few minutes before we saw the attending physician. Diagnosed with scarlet fever he was given medication and within the hour was sleeping. God bless the doctors, nurses, clerks and others that serve those of us in need.
The problem with blogs is that it gives a few people an outlet to complain while most of folks that PRMC serves are very happy and grateful that we are lucky enough to be served by such a dedicated staff.
That housekeeper is the same one who cleans the toilet where you sit your arrogant, repulsive ass at your work which pays you a fortune to walk around and act like an arrogant, repulsive ass....I guess he/she is of no use to you since they aren't in your "class"! It's people like you who make people like us not admire PRMC. And no---I don't work there----couldn't pay me enough!
This is in response to a post from someone who waited to be seen in the ED and wound up leaving without being properly evaluated.
There are a lot of stories like this. I have several of my own. Nanticoke and PRMC are horrific - when in college in NYC I saw free clinics that were cleaner, more organized, and that offered better care.
I worked in the ED in a non-medical (but also non-housekeeping, since that matters, apparently) position before the re-vamp - about 4.5 years ago now. I quit because I was completely disgusted by the doctors and nurses. In a MAJOR trauma, they get it together and do what they have to, but when there are patients sitting around with illnesses or injuries that are emergent but not life-threatening, they blow them off. It's horrible.
Now, Nanticoke sucks 100%, so at least they are consistent, but the irony of PRMC is that many of the departments, should you be admitted and moved out of the ED, are actually really great. My first child was born at Beebe, and given a choice, I chose PRMC for their terrific L&D Dept for my next. Their Cardio and PT Depts. are amazing. And once you get on a higher floor, the nursing staff and doctors are great and deserve more recognition than they get.
Unfortunately, more people experience the ED than the inpatient departments, and the service there is just SO bad, it tarnishes the rest of the hospital and staff.
The doctor who posted this reply, if they are really a Dr at all, should be ashamed. No good ED Dr goes in to that field expecting recognition - every patient in the ED is there because they think they are sicker than everyone else, and they are all scared, tired, sick, and agitated before they even walk through the door. That's the nature of the department, and any ED Dr worth their salary knows it. It is one of the hardest jobs in the hospital.
Unfortunately, that's also why no one wants to work there, and so the nursing and medical staff in general in the ED are the dregs that can't get a placement anywhere else.
No ED is perfect, but PRMC should be ashamed, and should make it their goal to completely revamp - not their environment, but their attitudes and service level.
Someone should remind this 'Dr. Stevens' that he or she gets PAID for providing a SERVICE. If providing good customer contacts and administering good service is a problem, this Dr should have chosen research or forensics, instead of a branch of medicine that requires a personality.
I'm betting that the folks in Podunk, Nebraska aren't really missing you, Dr. Stevens.
Did they give you a going-away party?
As I understand it, they're actually having a hard time getting younger doctors out of school because the rate of pay on the eastern shore is lower, and its not appealing to someone having to pay such high student loan payments. I've heard that in the next ten years or so, this is going to lead to a crisis of sorts because the older doctors in the area will be retiring, and there wont be any new blood to replace them.
I think that a terrible road is being paved right now. There is such disdain for the medical community locally because of the quality of care (I'll be honest and say that I definitely feel that same disdain). I'm sure it makes it hard for another doctor to want to relocate here, in conjunction with the whole lower pay on the shore thing. Think about it--with the hospital being reputed to be so terrible, why would someone want to work there?
anon 2:26 pm..I agree with you..my experiences at PRMC have been excellent.
That said, if the poster calling himself Dr. Stevens really is a doctor and practising at PRMC, his total arrogance does the hospital a disservice as well as the medical school he attended.
and your "colleagues" are horses asses also, if they've spent working time laughing about something on the blog.
No wonder the health care system sucks. It's because of these types of health care providers.
Emergency -- Calling a shrink for Dr. Stevens! Bring a straight-jacket and tranquilizer gun.
A local Doctor is Easton MD just sent a letter to all his clients. The cost is $1500.00 a year to be kept on his books. This is just the fee to be allowed to make appts. We are headed for a real health care problem unless we start training doctors in this country.
Joe
Not posting the truth about there being no Dr. Stevens really decreases my respect for you.. If you want to fan the flames.. do it to the Congress.. no the hospital that will undoubtedly save your life in the future
the last post said we need to train doctors in this country... Where do u think they come from... Hello
All the doctors I know are schooled and trained in the USA.. THE USA!!!
Please stop the idiot comments that are irrelevant!!!
I'll go to Baltimore, thank you.
MAN!... i don't know who the doctor was that wrote that post, but man... you got WHORED!... respectfully.
I will make sure I tell the entire staff of docs at PRMC Joe.. so when you are having acute MI, or Stroke, Bleed etc.. Car Accident.. Take the extra time and go to Baltimore and DIE
You are an Idiot that knows nothing about PRMC and the docs that work there etc..
I think I will tell Andy Harris how you conduct business.. I am sure he will cut u off asap... No one needs absolute idiots
The doctors may well be trained in the USA but that bunch of nurses they just brought from India leave a lot to be desired. In their culture they do not question men so if the doctor makes an error in judgement the nurse will not correct him unlike american nurses.
WOW!!! With a little bit of hope, that post should end your career as a Dr., at least I would hope. Probably not career ending but maybe your stay at PRMC just ended. I'll make sure everyone I know will know of you, should they have to go there.
Anon 2:26 You have been very luck...must be the time of day you went...I had to sit with my sick son for 45 minutes in the waiting area with him throwing up and feeling like he was going to pass out.....and that is only one of many times I have experienced the wait.....we have a primary physician but there are times when you have an emergency and have to go to the hospital....
We only use PRMC cause we have to...only game in town....major issues we go to Sinai Hospital.
A family member had a crisis situation. The quality of care from Dr. K and the ER staff was top notch. For those with non life-threatening emergencies there is a new ER Docs place on the North end near Boater's World. I have heard it is very good.
my complaint for medical care in this area is the fact there isn't any pediatric specialist in the area. why do we not have any?? I am from the norfolk,va area(orginially) and I have drive back there for any pediatric speciality care. It truly is a pain in the butt to have to drive almost 3hrs for a doctors appt. I am lucky enough they do work with me and let me do the labs and test from up here and have them faxed to them. Ok well that's my gripe :)
How dare you Dr. Stevens (if that is really who you are) take a shot at the person who cleans at the hospital.
If they didn't do their job, you wouldn't be able to do yours!
Not everyone has the desire to become a doctor so how dare you look down on them!
As a patient/visitor of the hospital, I glad they are there to keep it clean!!!!
I hope PRMC sees your response and puts you out the door!
What a horse's ass!
Hey Joe,
I think you made in error in your post heading....
"Respectfully"??????
I bet that woman cleaning those toilets did more than your wife did today.
So Dr. Stevens....you seem to be working so hard seeing as you're busy reading and posting comments on this blog. No wonder there is a wait in the ER. Dr.Stevens and his colleagues are too busy reading this blog and commenting to take care of the people in the waiting room. You get paid good money I'm sure and you seem to take good advantage of your position.
Get back to work, you're a DR. not a blogger.
First of all there is no Dr. Stevens at PRMC , simply go on the website all of the Doctors with priveleges are listed. Secondly the Emergency Room is operated by a seperate entity than the rest of the hospital, always has been. They hire their own staff, pay a different wage than the rest of the hospital etc. Someone with an axe to grind against doctors obviously wrote in that comment. Thirdly not everyone dressed in scrubs is a nurse--nursing assistants, unit secretaries, hospital transporter all wear scrubs. Someone you see in scrubs that is joking around or goofing off is not necessarily a nurse. The problems at PRMC is the same problem that most hospitals are having, budget cuts resulting in less staffing, longer waits, insurance regulations that send people on illogical wasteful wild goose hunts to get testing, it goes on and on. Please consider ALL of the pertinent facts before launching a scorched earth campaign against PRMC. I have worked there 23 years , there are many hardworking, decent doctors, nurses , repiratory tech,s xray techs etc. etc. For every person that complains about PRMC I have heard the same complaint about Hopkins, University,AGH, Nanticoke,Easton, Anne Arundel Beebe etc. etc.from people that are very pleased with PRMC.
Awesome post Dr.! I respect and agree with your comment!
ANON 2:53 Sorry jerk but over half the students in med school today are not native Americans and most leave the USA when they finish school to work in their home countries.
NO BALLS DOC, SIGN YOUR NAME...
Dr. Stevens is a joke , if he was a good Dr. he wouldn't have anything to do with the hospital.
Most of the gooooood doctors have left and opened their own facilities. What an idiot!!!!!!!!!
It doesn't make a bit of difference
if she is a house keeper , she can she what is going on. As a matter of fact she can she filth and the bad-treatment more than anyone you dumb ass.Dr. who ? I'll avoid you like the flue.
I can just imagine what you have shared with your colleagues .
You can bet your sweet ass it wasn't professional opinion.
If you work in the medical field and you don't want to do your job then find another profession. You provide a service that we or our insurances pays for and we expect the utmost of it. You get what you pay for? Well we pay dearly so we want dearly.
Try finding a neonatologist on the Shore now that Dr. Lantz no longer comes here......high risk pregnant patients have to go to Annapolis.
I have no comment on the doctor's rebuttal but to say he should have more respect for the housekeeping staff.Let them and all the other support staff(food service, laundry, janitorial, etc) quit for just one day and see how smoothly the hospital operates!
And wherever I have ever worked,I have always been courteous to the housekeeping staff, because they not only know all the secrets of your office or workplace, they work very hard with low pay.
Id like to see PRMC stop hiring these nurses from overseas Pakistan or where ever that dont speak a lick English. They bring them in and then they put them through a course to help pass the nursing program. PRMC should hire locally and if need be help the local people to pass the nursing exam.
I just recently started working at PRMC, but had been there a few times in the past for various issues and was taken care of quite well. But since I have been there I have just sat back and listened to people who have worked there for many years and just how miserable they are. Now most would say why not go somewhere else? But when your whole family is here and there is really only a few hospitals in the area to choose from that's kind of hard. I have heard many talk about the pay there, like I just said I just started a few months ago and my starting pay is only like 6-7 dollars difference than someone that has been there for more than 25 years? I am seriously considering going somewhere else in the future but have to stay for a set period of time due to a small sign on bonus they gave me and that they give most every position there. My sign on bonus was about $3000 over 2 years so they got me for 2 years or I have to come up with that money and pay them back. I didn't realize that so many people that worked there were so miserable and I really enjoy my job and the people I work with and the patients I meet everyday that I am there, but to think if I stay for 25 years that I will only be making mere dollars more than someone who just started makes me want to go someplace else. Plus many other area hospitals pay much more by the hour for every position in the hospital whether you are a nurse, nursing assistant, respiratory therapist, techs, everything!!!! The employees of PRMC should get together and do something about it.
Anon 2:07pm....
Awesome reply my friend, thank you!!

2:35 PM
Yes they gave him a going away party, but the funny thing... he wasn't invited. ROTFLMAO
Share that with your colleagues... Butt Munch!
prmc is a horrible hospital and the staff there are ridiculously insensitive to others. I had a friend with blood clots in his legs in there and they almost killed him with drugs then insisted to his wife he'd never work again. Thankfully said wife shipped her husband to John Hopkins where he was properly diagnosed and now WORKING!
PRMC is a joke.
If I get a splinter in my foot I will go to Hopkins.
dr.stevens or "whoever"--your status precedes you 'are you an idiot or what? forget spelling issues-- a lot of these comments are VERY TRUE what about that da,da,da,doctor?
