Where was the leadership during yesterday's bailout debacle in the Congress? It surely wasn't wasn't coming from either the Democrat or GOP camps. Unfortunately, hypocrisy - the life's blood of Washington - seemed to be in ample supply on both sides of the aisle. With claims that the world economy will collapse without action by the US Congress, it's been politics as usual - except the players are getting more air time.
It's the Democrats fault. No, all of the blame lies with Republicans. Let's blame it all on President Bush. Your head will literally spin watching the players pass the buck.
While everyone spoke prior to yesterday's vote, if you were a Democrat you seemed to parrot the same speech:
You'll seldom here me say this, but the truth is somewhere in the middle. It is absolutely true that we can trace the root of SOME of these problems to the Clinton administration ... even the administration of Jimmy Carter. It is equally true that too many Republicans approved of a system bereft of reasonable regulation and allowing institutions to merge to the point that they were too big too fail. Read More ...

We need to all come together because this is the nation's problem. It's the world's problem. And of course we all know that this is due to the failed economic policies of the Republicans.Republicans used a similar tack; simply claiming that this debacle lays at the feet of Dems.

Yes, a lot of blame to go around. Usually there would be calls for a special investigation to get to the "bottom of this debacle" allowing the congressional members a chance to wax eloquent about their non role and it was the other guy, (especially conservative other guys) Why no investegation? Seems to me the house and senate majority leadership knows where it would lead. To be sure there is much blame to go around, but the political smear of those that tried to warn Congress over the past 5-10 years that this was going to happen is surely right at the top. As usual, liberal policies destroy the very people they are supposedly are trying to help. "Equal Misery For All" should be plaque over the DNC's national office.

Sir:
WTF is your point -- or must we wait for another installment?
Why did 90+ Dems, who are in tight races, vote against their queen Pelosi??? What are they so afraid of... must be something in that bill that can come back and haunt them??? This alone doesn't give me great confidence of what they were about to pass.
honestaby
Why did republicans vote against it, when their friggin' PRESIDENT asked for it?
I am so sick of hearing "it's the republicans" "it's the democrats". Did you ever think that both parties may doing what the people want and saying no to the bailout. Jesus, people stop the blame game. Just say NO!! The president said that the congress must act, well they did, they said no. Except that. It's like continually bailing out your kids who have financial problems. The answer is no more. So sorry you have trouble with the word NO!
Anon 1038 -
You obviously didn't read the whole piece since that was the main point of the post - BOTH parties lack leadership and are little more than hypocrites.
yes 10:38, let's all just stick our collective heads in the sand and hope it all goes away. I hope you do not have to borrow any money soon...I hope that your retirement account or 401K is not invested in stocks or bonds....I hope you do not have a mortgage that balloons in the next 5 years or that you will have to sell your home in that time frame.
Saying NO is easy....what is hard is crafting an intelligent plan that will stabilize the financial markets...markets that affect nearly every single American.
What we have seen this week is more of the same mind numbing partisan politics that has stood in the way of progress for nearly 15 years now....what we have seen are partisan hacks putting thier re election ahead of the best interests of the nation.
Certainly Bush needs to go...and he is....but you better hope that Reid and Pelosi follow in quick order as well. They couldn't lead a troop of girl scouts making s'mores.
