One Democrat flat out told me, "It's Over." He was talking about Obama's choice for Vice President, Joe Biden.
Another was going off about ad campaigns and the rest are pretty obvious right here on this Blog.
Look, I have said this in the past and I think it's worth repeating. I do not believe that anyone in America can be pleased with the choice each Party delivered as their #1 pick for President.
I should add, it's Congress that runs America, not the President. Oh, many may choose to argue that but the reality is, America is all screwed up because of Congress, not the President.
Now don't go thinking that I support President Bush, I don't! I think that dumb SOB should have been kicked out of Office the very first year he was in. However, you, the Idiots of America not only voted for the Idiot once, you did it twice.
Now does that mean that McCain will follow in Bush's footsteps? Come on now, you can't be that stupid, can you? Well, then again, Bush did get into Office twice. The bottom line is, should McCain become the "Maverick" some label him, well, positive change is about to happen for America.
We, (as a Country) are sending BILLIONS of dollars overseas for just oil alone each and every year. These companies and Countries are becoming so rich off of us that they're now coming back with our very own money and buying up American Companies in trouble and taking over our own Country. It's time to get serious Folks! If you thought having foreigners running local Mini Marts and so forth was bad, you just wait another 5 years!
CONGRESS needs to be changed. Again, vote out every incumbent in Congress from this point forward and then and only then will you see CHANGE in America.
In the mean time, stop being so angry, Republicans and Democrats. Change ALL of the members of Congress and that's when you'll see America come around.

Great post Joe!!! While I do not necessarily agree with your analysis of Bush and McCain, you are 100% accurate saying that Congress is more important. Presidents can make as many decision as they'd like, but unless Congress approves, very little gets done. We need to elect strong leaders to Congress so that they can go there and get the job done, not merely go and be another lap dog for poor leadership *cough* Frank Kratovil *cough*
Congress is more important! Which is why we cannot continue to have more years of failed Pelosi leadership. She is a terrible leader and she has all her lackeys do her bidding. The most "moderate" Democrat still voted with her 80% of the time. Is this what we want? HELL NO!!!!

I've said this time and time again about congress running the show. We absoulutely have the worst leadership than I can ever remember. Please folks, wake up and let's get these lifers out. We really need to put term limits on these folks. Many of these cronies are way too comfortable there.

They're frustrated because it's hard to respond to Palin. She's as terrible a pick as there ever could have been. She is as partisan a hack as ever there was, and she was selected not for her abilities, but for the focus-grouped, over-analyzed campaign shake-up she might (and temporarily has) offer. I recognize this is an opinion site, but please don't pretend you know what Americans, Salisburians, Republicans or Democrats think. A cursory review of blogs, comments from Democrats online, even casual conversations would tell you Democrats are pissed about little other than the moral and intellectual downfall of America and the cliff off which we will fall should John McCain get elected.

There is a long time between now and election day, and once the "new car smell" comes off of Sarah Palin, people will once again start focusing on the issues.
Anyone that says that they "LOVE" Sarah Palin should be asked this question: What do you know about her? That is like saying you are in "love" with the first person you kissed without ever speaking to them.
The problem is NO ONE knows about her, not even members of her own party, but they do not want to say anything for fear of showing weakness or doubt.
Name me any other Vice-Presidential pick who was more unknown and whose real views were purposely hidden from the American people. Her public speeches have been to Republican crowds and have been full of phrases, quips, and slogans that Republican crowds applaud for. She has not been tested inthe public arena, and this woman could be President in four and a half months.
Americans need to demand answers from her, and keep beating this drum until she responds. Plus, we need to raise all holy h*** when her side claims "sexism" just for asking questions. (Palin said that Hillary was being a whiner when sexism charges were being thrown around earlier this year. Why can't the governor toughen up?)
As of this moment, Sarah Palin is a new celebrity who has not given you a reason to dislike her because she has not given you anything at all.
Where does she stand on the war? Where does she stand on immigration? Where does she stand on anyhing? (And please provide an answer other than "exactly where McCain stands.")
She is consistently lying about the Bridge to Nowhere. Her daughter apparently "chose" to marry her boyfriend after they got pregnant. It is nice that Governor Palin's daughter got a "choice" in regards to her pregnancy, considering that Governor Palin does not want any other woman in America to have that choice.
Hold her feet to the fire and see what sparks up. We are her EMPLOYERS. So far, you have asked less of her than you would of someone applying at McDonald's.

Its a sad America when we have the likes of Ted Kennedy and many others destroying our values. As for as Socialized medicine, I have a friend that lives in the UK where they have socialized medicine. He has a bad knee from playing rugby and has been on a list to have knee replayment going on 3 years. That is the norm in the UK. Decide for your self.

like him or hate him the fact is since 9/11 no attacks against the U.S. have occurred either at home or abroad. Contrast that to the numerous attacks against our embassies, ships and the world trade center during Clintons administration and Bush has kept us safe. That shows that the terrorist know that with a strong president they will have hell to pay if they attack us, With some weenie like Obama as president and his lets talk attitude, is there any doubt we will be attacked if he is elected.
Not only did Republicans and others vote for Bush the Idiot twice, they chose him over McCain. And McCain just cuddled up to him after Bush said he wasn't mentally fit to hold office because he was a POW (Remember South Carolina!)
Some Dems were groaning over the Biden pick, but few any more. Biden's ratings of being right for his potential position are actually higher than all three of the rest of the tickets.
Now that we know the last polls had a much heavier sampling of Republicans (like the sleazy Gannett-owned USAToday poll -- go look it up, yup, yup!), we can say, "blah, blah, blah" to the polls.
With McCain's latest sleazy ad lying about Obama on sex ed (the bill was to support things like "inappropriate touching," the same stuff taught by the CUB SCOUTS!), Obama is gaining steam again from the backlash to McCain's Karl Rove politics.
So you would have preferred Kerry? Blame the Dems again that they couldn't come up with a better candidate!

When you answer that question please reveal your reliable source of information. Considering you don't know any more about that young lady than you do the man in the moon, I think revealing your source is not an unreasonable request.
Please. Americans are too scared of the obvious tanking of this nation IN ALL THINGS CONCRETE - ie. the economy - not to vote for the type of elitists responsible for our nation's only years of fiscal health in recent memory (that's the Democrats).

Obama knows how to fight for the rights of groups that the Democrats typically marginalize...in my eyes, he's more of an Independent in Democrat's clothing.

The Democrats are going to win the presidency. It will be an Electoral College deal, where McCain may get the popular vote (barely) and Obama wins the Electoral College. You heard it here first.
Deciding to get married really has nothing to do with a person's stance on abortion. I really don't see what the point is on that post. Also, while Congress has more to do with laws/legislation/policy, it is important to elect a strong president, one who will stand up for our country as well as our soldiers. To me, the obvious choice is McCain, which his experience and strength. And let's be completely honest, normally vice presidential candidates are not household names or well known before the election but we will get to know them throughout the next fews months. Do you think people across the country are as familiar with Biden as we are? Of course not!
I believe most people who follow politics at all knew who Joe Biden was.
You can't even compare that with Palin.
Joe Biden has been in the news for years.....good and bad....so he is known throughout the country.
Just because he's from a little state doesn't mean anything.
My point was not that he is unknown but that we, in this area, are more familiar with him than most. Also, to pick someone who is not well known to run as your vp does not seem uncommon to me. If you closely follow politics (as I'm sure many on this blog do) you will obviously know more about politicians but most people I come in contact with are not that interested in sunday political news shows or town hall meetings. My point was that of one's perspective, not one of who is more popular between palin and biden.
Thank the Republican Congress for revising the bankruptcy laws and including allowing credit card companies and banks to charge you as much as 35% interest.

Wow Joe. That attack on the President was way over the top. That dumb SOB graduated from Yale and got his MBA from Harvard. He flew fighter jets and made millions in the business world. He was a very successful Governor of a very large state and has managed to keep this country safe from attacks since 9/11 while eliminating thousands of real SOBs that want to kill Americans.
You may not like all his choices, but to say what you said is intellectually lazy. If I wanted to hear crap like that I would read the Daily Kos, NY Times and Huffington Post.

And he's sold out his "maverick" status to be a puppet of the party and a panderer to the extreme right in order to get his last shot at his personal dream.
McCain has little to show for the last 8 years except this caving to his party. And selecting a sellable story in Palin to get what he could not on his own. The poster itself speaks volumes, putting her in the foreground.
As far as the Dems being pissed, blah, blah, blah, forget the angst you read in your tiny world on the blogs. The Dems are out on the streets kicking ass in added registrations, mobilizing the vote, even at Republicans strategize how to steal this election with voter caging in Ohio and using home foreclosure lists in Michigan to disqualify voters.
As a result, it may be close, but Obama's going to take it. Because America is sick of living in a world created by Karl Rove and George W. Bush.
I would not presume to speak for how Americans feel or what they are or are not sick of. I can only speak of how I feel and I personally feel safer after having Bush in office the last 8 years.
Also-it's a little petty to say the republicans are going to try to steal the election. It's unfair and undermines our democratic process. Let's remember that at the end of the day, we are all Americans and want what's best for our country. To paint democrats, or republicans, independents, etc, as theives or evil is not really the point, nor is it accurate.

You are right about the huge interest rates now allowed on credit cards. Also, the Republican Congress passed the provision that, if you're late paying one credit card, the rates on all of the cards you hold will go up.
Bush and Cheney "left" big oil and Halliburton to run our country. How coincidental that huge, record profits have been enjoyed by both groups. Favorable government decisions, like no-compete contracts, have allowed Halliburton and Blackwater to charge the country billions. It is amusing when Republicans say Democrats would use government to tax the wealthy and give to the poor; Republicans act like the wealthy got that way on their own, with no help from government. Republicans use government to help big oil, big credit card companies, Halliburton, big drug companies, etc. It is white collar welfare, but it is still tax money.
