SFD Calls Me A D%#k!

"Joe,

You are truly inhumane and have no compassion nor regard for the firefighters as you say you do. You will simply do/say anything to take a pot shot at the Admin; specifically Chiefs See/Hoppes/Gordy.

How you call yourself a "non-biased" source of "news" is completely beyond any rational thought and it is my hope that God will have mercy upon your soul on your day of reckoning...

The stress these men/women are under is enormous and you will NEVER be able to even imagine what some of the go through after some of what they see/deal with on an every day basis.

No...you'd rather find fault for some small amount of overtime that may be spent for this training instead of praising the Admin of the SFD for being proactive and attempting to reach out to its members to help them see the signs of such stress and realize that there may be help for them BEFORE the unthinkable occurs.

They "choose" their careers and each knows the job hazards which by the way includes struggling in the "pay" department and having to work multiple jobs to make something more of themselves. That is true for most ffer's throughout the country, not just SFD. However, each knew that going in to the job and each accepted that when they took the job. Simply put, that is just additional stress on these men/women on top of the job stressors that are present each and every shift.
Give these guys/gals a break and wish them well for once rather than busting their chops for sitting through a class that could possibly make a difference in even just one person's life.

For once...dont be a d%#k..."

I guess there's no STRESS in what "I" do every day either, right? You see, I give people like you the opportunity to lash back at me openly and as most don't like to be disagrees with, I have to deal with Anonymous Idiots like yourself putting words into my mouth. I have not once stated that I have no compassion with Firefighters and the stress they deal with every day. I will say, however, why just the PAID Firefighters D%#khead? Why exclude the Volunteers. Oh, that's right, the Paid Firefighters don't/won't treat them like real Firefighters and that's what this Post is all about, to me anyway.

You guys always try to go after the bleeding hearts of everyone to get what you want. We saved your life, we rescued your cat/dog, you know the drill. Get over yourselves and do what your paid to do, period. Maybe I should come back here crying about the risks I take every day with threats on MY LIFE from a$$holes like yourself and QUIT because the risks are too high. Some HERO you are!

Did I read that correctly? You're comparing your blog to the jobs that Fire-Rescue Personnel do? LOL!

Anonymous said...

haha! good one Joe! The "stress" you get from reading replies. Classic! Atleast climb a tall ladder or tree when make your new posts.

Nonsense. Your comparison reminds me of Romney comparing his kids' mormon missionary work to the service of our young soldiers/marines.

Yes. I would much rather run into a burning building than risk being called names. YOU are the REAL hero, Joe!
Oh, and by the way. Only recently have you started putting up opinions that disagree with yours. Bet it stops soon, too.

All in all its thier job! Just like you have a job and i have a job. And i would hope that we all strive to do our job as best possible. So imo you picked your career so do it and do it good, but dont expect special attention when you do good, because your just doing your job like the rest of us.

What a joke you can be sometimes joe!
Why do you think you are above everyone else?

Anonymous said...

Joe with all do respect. I dont think anyone wants to take the class, but when it is made mandatory by the adminstration. The employees have no say. Its either go, or action will be taken. So please dont bash ALL the firefighters and as far as the volunteers being made to go. I have no idea why they are not required to attend. They made volunteers take the mandatory diversity trainging. Also its not overtime..There is no such thing in Salisbury, its extended time, which means you get nothing more than your regular salary. Now you see why the turn-around of employees is so high...When you can go to Ocean City and such making more money, hell Delmar even pays OVERTIME..

Anonymous said...

So what .... you spend 24/7 doing the same to others. except when kissing butt ... Why not walk in a fireman's or policeman's shoes for a day to see what stress is really like ... ops I forgot you are not on good terms with either dept.

All of you so called firemen or policemen knew exactly what you were going into when you signed up. Granted sometimes there is stress but that goes with any job and that is just what you have, a job. Quit your whining and do your job or go and find a real job doing something else. If you didn't act like a bunch of assholes all of the time then maybe you could find more compassion.

hey 12:23 It Takes one to Know one. If you are actually from S.F.D. your approach to Mr.Albero is far less than becoming for a professional, thus the reason to call you a cry baby! All Mr. Albero has to do is mention something about your department or your chief and you go crazy. If all of you CRY BABIES would wake up and smell the roses you too would realize that in the long run you are also being screwed by your own Leadership! For years you refuse to work together in your own organization but when someone like Mr.Albero comes along and exposes the facts you call him names that YOU as a professional should refrain from using because it makes YOU look like a complete IDIOT!!!

Joe,
Your opinion to this post completely shows your lack of knowledge with the fire service. But your ego doesn’t allow you to admit, that and that is what these people are upset about.

I know you and some people on here have problems with the City of Salisbury administration and the fire department's administration. But why must you and other's (Anon, 10:42, 12:36) be critical of the people that actually do the work. I have to say that I praise Chief by making this mandatory. It should be mandatory for all personnel, whether volunteer or career.

You folks are right by saying we knew what we were getting into when we signed up for this job. But I guess in your eyes we are expendable as human beings too. We are just another number. As for the people calling Joe out to walk a mile in their shoes. We all know that when you ask for something like this it never works out. When they do it is just another “routine”day. Maybe a fire, a few sick cases, maybe a chest pains call. Not the type of calls that give the nightmares. The SIDs death, the auto accident that involves a kid that is the same age as your own, the fatal house fire that killed an entire family. They wont happen. It will just be another day at the “office”.

I have been in the fire service for over 20 years. I love what I do. I love helping my community. I don’t want recognition for it. But I also don’t want people to say it is just another job, because it isn’t.

joe albero said...

Mr. Adams?

I thank you for your comment. Notice how you didn't call me a d%#k.

Secondly, the key here is the fact that ALL Firefighters should be brought into this course, not just the ones the Chief selects, Paid Firefighters.

You see, my problem is NOT the Firefighters. My problem is the management decisions.

OK, try this out for size, if you'd be so kind.

When the MAJORITY of Paid Firefighters go home for the day from their day shift, mostly Volunteers are left on duty for the evening shifts. The MAJORITY of serious fires and accidents happen at night. Therefore, the chances of a Volunteer having to experience what you claim above is much greater, therefore one would think the Volunteers would be treated equally. That is, IF that is the true intent of this class?

I await your reply.

Joe,
Please don't belittle me with a question mark after my name. It is my name, rank, and position. I will not offer up any more information. It is not relevant.

I have to agree and I mentioned that in my comment. I feel that it should be mandatory for all personnel, both volunteer and career to have this training. I think it's a great idea, maybe just poorly implemented. Of course I don’t have all of the information. Maybe they will do career personnel first then volunteers at a later date.

Where I disagree. Is where your readers, and you, are saying that the rank and file should just "man-up" and do their job. There is no need for this training. How we knew what we were getting into when we hired on. It is those comments that are condescending to firefighters around the world. And it is comments like that, that show’s a person’s ignorance of fire service.

I would suggest you stop being so defensive.

Can't help it. I know how you are when you don't have all of the information about someone that is debating you. But, You made a mochary of a class that is supposed to be proactive. A class that actually touchs close to home for me. And as a long time reader I had to speak out against it.

Don't worry, we will meet one day and I will introduce myself. I will be at a couple events in the SBY area in the next couple weeks. I'm sure you will be there too.

cruggly, you already are! To M. Adams and all the other firefighters, vollies or paid, thank you for the job you do. I agree with Joe that, if they are going to have this training at all (and I think they should), they should make it mandatory for all. I also say thank you to all in law enforcement who are the ones out there laying their lives on the line every day. As for the administrations, no comment.
That being said, let me tell you that almost any job can have an element of risk. I was in a job with the state when a craazed drug addict came in and threatened to shoot me. Then, as a substitute teacher, I was threatened by students several times. As a delivery person for a florist, I was robbed at gunpoint and pistol-whipped. And as a teen, working at a fast-food, I was held up and locked in a freezer. While none of these jobs were inherently dangerous, they still proved to be so.

It tickles me when Fatso Hoppes tries to come off like he is some religious God fearing gentleman. That man curses so much using the "F" word that a drunken sailor would blush. Oh yeah, don't forget his infidelity with the little teenager that used to hang around the fire department.

Can someone tell me what a FFIII FADO is?

This guy has already lost his credibility because there is no such thing as a Firefighter III and big deal if he drives Fire Apparatus. That and one dollars won't even buy you a decent cup of coffee.

You are a wannabe firefighter with obviously little to no training or knowlege of the fire service. LOSER!

Actually, it is YOU who knows shit about nothing. There is a FF3, it is the OLD MFRI standard of levels. They don't teach FF3 any longer, but at one time, there was such a certification. It means this guy has been fighting fire before you swimming in your whore mother's uterus. And FADO is Fire Apparatus Driver Operator.

Now that you have been owned, how about you go back to your volunteer social club you call a firehouse over in Easton.

Hey Anon 12:01pm is thing really a pole smoker?

He comes across like he is a knowlegeable and experienced firefighter, but he has no clue.

His quote: "They don't teach FF3 any longer,..."

There has never been a FF III class and MFRI has never taught a FF III class. He is speaking out of his ass because his lips aren't moving and I hear that is a well used hole.

At one time there was such a certification? If that is the case then why are you still living in the past. He highest Firefighter certification is FF II and the highest Officer certification is FO IV which I doubt seriously he is qualified for.

And to all who reads his post it is obvious that he hates volunteers and he is an embarrassment to the fire and EMS profession. If I was his chief he would be looking for another job.

Let me ask a question of the readers: Is Miek Reynolds, FFIII, FADO, NREMT-P someone that you want to come into your castle and treat you? He is to ignorant to know how to spell his own name so I am quite confident that this little man can even calculate or administer the appropriate medications during an emergency. I am quite confident that this individual is a liability to the jurisdiction that he is sworn to represent.

Can anyone tell us where this guy is from and who he represents. I would love to call his bosses to let them know what kind person this is.

This is also addressed to some of the other commenters.

FF III if I am not mistaken was at one point a MFRI class way back when. I believe it was previous to FO 1, and so forth.

Some individuals are extremeley narrowminded and can't grasp the concept of another way of doing things.

Now here is a thought. A probie ff in most career departments will hold the rank of FF I. As they continue to advance through the ranks and earn seniority and expand their training credentials they are eligible to move to the rank of FF II. Now don't get lost, this has nothing to do with being an MFRI FFII, its a position within their respected department, and with it comes (more often than not) a monetary raise. As you become a senior ff and gain more credentials you become eligible to become a FF III. Each dept. does their own thing, how their Rank system reflects their credetial requirements. I would assume that FADO stands for FIRE APPARATUS DRIVER OPERATOR. Which would mean that he is more than likely an Engineer. It is actually a respected position and shows seniority and experience in most departments aswell as being a precursor to a promotion to an officer.

This goes out to all of the 2/20's who post on here. (to those of you who do not what that means; someone
who has two months worth of experience, and act as though they know more than someone with twenty years of service) Please do your research before you make all of us look like bumbling idiots. I have worked hard to earn all of the credentials I have earned. I don't want you to discredit all of the hard work I have put in over the years. I for the life of me can not understand why some of you feel the need to come on here and attempt to destroy each other. Everyone makes mistakes, some more than others. If your gonna bust somebody's chops do it at the firehouse, around the tailboard face to face.

Mr. Albero:

Let me begin by stating that you answered in a similar manner to which I expected to, so I'm not surprized at your rantings. I would like to clear up a few details however...

No where in my post did I say anything about being affiliated with the SFD. In fact, I am not and your "conclusional jumping" is a fault you should investigate as you are quite good at it. I am however a firefighter (vol/career) and have been for over 22 years so I am somewhat familiar with the job. I do know some of the SFD men/women but am not affiliated in any manner. I utilized the names of the Administration to make a point and am not sure that I even spelled their names correctly.

My commentary is simply based upon your claim to be non-biased and you prove time and again that you are not!!!

Your claim to "stress" is an inflated ego boosting joke. IF you should have stress (which we all do, so I'll allow you yours), it is simply because of your own doing. YOU bring it upon yourself (and your family for that matter) and you have no one to blame but YOU. Get over yourself and realize that, should you ever become the true news venue you claim to be, your stress levels will diminish rapidly.
I read some of the posts regarding this and I found some interesting and some down right obnoxious. I dont believe for one second that the person claiming to be a paid ffer (written in all CAPS) is truly what he/she claims to be. I dont know any paid FFer that is that "dumb" to make such statements and have such poor grammar. These men/women do have to have some formal education to acquire/maintain their jobs and that commentor certainly doesnt fit the bill regarding any educational standard I'm familiar with.
You comparing the "stress" to which you subject yourself to that of ANY FFer is simply silly. You yourself admitted that you werent man enough to do the job FFers do in your own words and in your own posts concerning the Powellville drills. "Idiots" such as myself I guess just could never understand.
The "threats" to which you speak are yet again of your own doing. I certainly DO NOT condone any threats you may receive and believe persons doing such should be dealt with as criminals, however, it is your own cyber-bullying tactics that bring them upon you. Again, were you the true non-biased news media you claim to be, you would show some restraint of your own and not use so much foul language and make threats of your own to others...re-read some of your own posts and tell me that you dont make statements with your alligator mouth that your hummingbird behind could NEVER live up to...For example...you call me an idiot and a dickH#$d to which I simply laugh as, at times, I have been/am/will continue to be. I laugh at your silly statement...however, some would not. I realize that this is YOUR blog...but you DEMAND respect rather than COMMAND respect; to which there is a HUGE difference. The sad thing is this...you could get it should you learn to treat people like people, rather than scum, when their opinions differ from your own.
I never called you a D#$k either Mr. Albero...I simply asked that you NOT be one regarding this issue. Departments all across the nation offer classes such as the one in question and these are good things for bad times.
I seek no "bleeding hearts" as you put it, nor do I desire any recognition for what I do. I get both the benefit of a paycheck from my job as well as the satisfaction of aiding my community as a vollie. Should you care to care, I imagine you'd find that many of the SFD personnel do exactly that same thing; meaing they are "two hatters": those who work as a career FFer and vollie in their community at the same time.
And to those non-believers regarding the FF III commentor...the last commentor explained that very well. There was a MD FFIII certification at one time ( I have it) and many departments utilize the FFer I/II/III system to denote seniority.

Yep...we knew exactly what we were getting into...or maybe not...I dont think anyone knows exactly what being a public safety servant does exactly entail...I doubt many would imagine some of the things these people do see...and if those "doubters" did see some of the "ugly" that is this world, they may have a differing point of view the next day when they got home to see their wives/husbands/children. They'd certainly have a new appreciation for what the people who protect them do and go through during any given tour of duty. Which brings this little dissertation to an end by stating that I respect what you do Mr. Albero...I simply ask of you that which you demand of so many others...consideration for other points of view.
Thank you for your time/space.

Respectfully;

A. Richardson
