LOCATION: E/B Northumberland Drive @ Downing Road, Delmar, Wicomico County, MD.
BRIEF RESUME:
On the above date and time the Maryland State Police responded to 9339 White Oak Road, Delmar, MD regarding a traffic collision.
Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2004 black Dodge truck, bearing Maryland registration 27M138, struck a 2004 black Dodge truck, bearing Maryland registration 31G483 at the above listed location. The driver of the 2004 black Dodge truck, bearing Maryland registration 27M138, was identified as Jason Thomas Chance. When speaking to Chance, alcohol was detected. Chance was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to remain at the scene of a collision involving property damage. The other vehicle involved in the collision was unoccupied. There were no injuries in the collision.
Chance was later released.
Charges: Veh #1 at fault.

Someone please tell me where this "where are the two troopers that were with him" is coming from. It is my understanding he was in the vehicle alone. Was he with two troopers earlier? Maybe. But not at the time of the accident. Even if there were other police officers in the car, it's not illegal. Is there a crime called RWI (riding while intoxicated) or BAPWI (being a passenger while intoxicated)? I hope not. If there is, every taxicab in Salisbury qualifies. Bottom line is this, he made a poor decision and there is no one else to blame. He was the driver and he was involved in an accident. How can passengers (that weren't there) be "just as guilty" You people are truly amazing. If anything, passengers (if they were there) would actually be victims. Remember, you are responsible for your own actions. If you choose to drink and get behind the wheel, you made a conscious decision and are responsible for the consequences. End of story.
victims in this case criminals who did not report a crime are failing to be a decent citizen. Someone who is not a decent citizen should not be a Officer.
How does anyone know there were troopers in his car? Did you have first hand knowledge then shut up. If you also knew when did you report the crime?

It could be worse. He could have easily lied and try to say that he drank after the accident when he got home. That would be a total disgrace. I am very confident he has told the truth and accepted full responsibility. I know Jason to be very honest and he is a stand up man.

I agree in supporting someone who obviously has a problem, because I have this isn't the first time he has been stopped while drinking and driving. He needs support but he also needs to lose his job, I hope Mike Lewis lives up to his statement when all that mess was going on with Davis Ruark that if one of his deputies was caught doing this they would be fired no questions asked. He obviously did not care about the other people one the road with him or the property of others or he would not have done this. You would think being a deputy and having to deal with drunk people at work that he would know better than this. I feel sorry for him in a way but in many other ways I do not.
10:20. Exactly. Jason is a fine LEO and gentleman. It is the pitfalls in our lives that not only make us stronger men, but also much better police officers. He will get through this, and he will learn like anyone else.

You have made a mistake and have been man enough to face it with the truth.....unlike many of your peers would have. Hold your head up, we are thinking of you and hope you can move on to bigger and better things. There is life after the WCSO...trust me on that one. At least you didn't make that phone call to...you know..he only helps certain people.

Jason did NOT man up, his Wife did 3 1/2 AFTER he ran from the scene and drove home.
Look, you know how much I support ALL of the Police Professionals but Jason made a HUGE mistake.
Granted, here's how I see things ending up. Jason will claim he drove home and became very upset and started drinking, hence the DUI & DWI charges. My guess, that will be dropped. Strategic move, I'll give him that. However, the leaving the scene of an accident charge will force him to 100% lose his job, that's final. The fact again that his Wife had to call the Sheriff's Office and report the accident, NOT GOOD. So stop buttering this one up. Now, (meaning ME) That's Manning Up!

hey joe im the Younger Brother and yes i made a mistake in my past and i have grown tremendously from it..... you perfect? never done anything wrong? or just never been able to man up and say that you did. Jason is a great officer, i've worked with him and lived with him and that man, my brother breathes that sheriffs office. shown some support instead of kicking a man while he's down. people learn and grow from their mistakes.....
Please don't forget that the KOC has just given Jason a nice award for what he has done on the job. I think it should be re-posted to remind some of who and what he truly is. Those who appreciate it don't forget it.
