Let's Set The Record Straight On Jason Chance's DUI Hit & Run

I just want to set the record straight on this situation. One, yes, he has been suspended with pay, like it or not. His badge, gun and vehicle have been taken away and he has absolutely NO Police Powers whatsoever any more.

Secondly, HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT! If it were any different I would have stated such.

The rumors and nasty messages someone has been trying to put through is ridiculous. Now Look, I have rejected probably 50 nasty comments from either Police Officers OR their Wives. Enough is enough of this crap.

If you think I'm going to let through any more messages of such you're sadly mistaken. Haven't you noticed they're NOT going up? Get the hint, YOU IDIOTS! GROW UP!

I'm walking away from my computer for a few hours because quite frankly I'm sickened by this kind of childish behavior. YOU'RE wasting my time and I don't appreciate it. I spend 16 hours a day trying to deliver good information and weeding through ALL of the comments. I am NOT a babysitting service to grown adults. START ACTING LIKE ONE FOR ONCE!

Everyone needs a break now and again Joe, I for one think you do well, it just gets better and better, a lot less verbal attacks( I'm sure that's what you were talking about).

It is only fair that some get objectionable points across for healthy debates, however, I'm sure what you are talking about is nothing but trash talk and BS.

There are some public figures that take a beating here, let it be known they deserve it, and then some. Thanks for keeping the over-the-top dirty cheap shots to a minimum and deleted. I'm sure I speak for quite few Joe, this blog has come a long way and it just keep's getting better and better.

Joe, thanks for keeping us informed hours before WBOC and days before the Daily Slime.

He probably wishes he was the States Attorney so he could keep his job!

Who says he can't keep his job? Suspended with pay, who are we to judge. The way I understand it, they caught him at his home...which means at the most the only thing they can charge him with is leaving the scene of an accident, since they cannot prove he was drunk at the time of his accident!

Comments coming from other LEOs and their wives...it happens no matter which agency is in the spotlight! Its childish! I can point out about 4 other posts (at least) that are on here right now with nasty comments from LEOs in the other agencies! You guys are supposed to be brothers! Yet its constant that you guys are stabbing each other in the back! Bottom line, you may not always get along, some may have more advantages, or less, some may get away with more or less, some may have better leaders or worse leaders...but grow up! Stick together! In a situation like this, if you can't say anything good...don't say anything! including who ever keeps getting on here calling SPD officers pussies and saying they wont go to the bad areas because they are scared of their own shadows!

You truly have to wonder...if Salisbury News was not around...Would we have even heard of this incident? This community of "leaders" is running scared from Joe Albero because he prints the truth and nothing but the truth and will not surcumb to the "good old boy" mentality! Keep up the good work JOE!

what the hell, the man made a mistake,if i had been caught all the times driving under the influence when i drank booze many moons ago i would be under the jail. at least he stood up to the plate like a man and did not bring his band of brothers into his misfortune.and i think he should be able to keep his job if he goes thru the steps for help.

Joe is just assuming that other police officers or their wives wrote the comments. Believe me enough Deputies do the same. But, I guess it's different when it's one of them?

Joe,
we do apoligize for our actions,I agree that some of these posts are degrading the WCSO and that you will not tolerate. I wonder if you would have grabbed your blanky and went to bed if Barrie Tilghman, Chiefy, David See, or Bill Gordy were the ones getting beat up? NOT !!!

You have to respect Mike Lewis for taking immediate action. Has anyone provided the blood alchol level? People have said that Justin did a lot for local kids. Anyone know the details?

obviously you're apart of the good ole boy network around here. I guess only you're biased, obnoxious, and sometimes childish opinion on this slanted site is all you will post

Let's not all convict Jason in the press. I know and work with Jason. He is a great guy and has done so much for the children in our schools and community. We have all made mistakes that we wish we could take back, I'm sure this is one he wishes he could redo also. I have and will continue to support Jason and have told him that myself. I'm sure 0849 has also done the same:) If we can have a State's Attorney that doesn't see the need to step down from office (after being convicted) then why should Jason have to resign or be terminated for this incident. I'm sure he will be glad to take his punishment if proven guilty and move on, but let's not fire a man who has worked so hard to make our community a much better place. I'm behind you Jason just like I have texted you:)

I respect Jason and I can attest that he has done a great deal for our school system over the past couple of years.

Yes, he did make a mistake and should face his consequences like a man. I know he will. He has gone through a rough time over the past few months with family issues but he still make a mistake.

I too support Jason and hopes that he gets a second chance. He should seek help to tackle his demons but in time, he should be reinstated. Probably not with the school system but he is a damn good cop.

Please give him the respect and chance he deserves.

We need to hold our public officials to a higher standard. They are supposed to serve and protect all of us. The position comes with increased responsibility. With that comes certain standards you must uphold. Like not driving drunk, or carrying a loaded weapon in a company vehicle. Would he be suspended with pay working for a fortune 500 company leaving the scene of an accident and intoxicated in a company vehicle

What goes around, comes around. Hopefully the sheriff will be a man of his word and terminate this drunkard.

Anonymous said...

no offense everybody but does a sober person hit 2 parked vehicles in a mere what, 25 min? according to previous posts, if his office has a policy against such actions, which in turn gives reason for termination, how could he be given a second chance. zero tolerance means zero tolerance. it makes no difference what level of rank or length of service an individual has.

First of all, who cares if you support him or not. He made a mistake because he is human. Yes he knows better....but just like the bible says "Let he without sin cast the first stone" Let it go, Jason is an awesome guy...seriously find something else to gossip about or get a hobby but why don't you start counting your blessings for God not allowing you to go through this. And just pray for Jason, pray that he learns from his mistakes, I'm sure he will, we all do. Just leave the poor guy alone

Jason is a person with a big heart who has done a lot for his community. He made a mistake and realizes that he needs to own up to the mistake. How many of us can say we too haven't made the same mistakes? Don't point the finger at anyone until you have walked in their shoes. Those of you that are attacking him obviously don't know him. If you did you would know that he is a wonderful person that is going through a rough time. Things happen for a reason and good will come out of this. He is owning up to his mistake. Let him be and stop attacking him. Use your time wisely and help others instead of attacking them.
