When I stood in front of the City Council a few weeks ago and I asked Gary Comegys if he had parked in a Handicapped Lane, (or however I worded it) Gary knew exactly what I was talking about and flat out LIED by saying he did not. I have several witnesses, (Police Officers) who did in fact witness him doing so, some of which were walking the grounds to find him to track him down so they could get the vehicle out of the way because a handicap person was trying to get off the Bus.
So I'm wondering just why they do the Lords Prayer before a Council Meeting when they show NO RESPECT for the truth anyway?
When I attended both Council Meetings in Delmar, they did not recite the Lords Prayer.

They should not be saying the Lord's Prayer before council meetings. this has been found time and time again to be violating the Constitution, Wilber knows it, but sits there with his mouth shut. You CAN have someone lead the Lord's Prayer, but only if you offer people of other faiths the opportunity to do their own form of benediction as well on a rotating basis. The only reason I haven't protested yet is I don't want to put more money in Wilber's pocket to "research" whether this is legal. It is wrong, wrong, wrong and the council needs to stop it. Nobody on the council, and I unfortunately have to include Campbell and Cohen in this, has the political courage to put an end to a practice that clearly is in violation of the Constitution.
Im not opposed to the Lord's prayer before the meetings, what i am opposed to is the lack of accountability when someone like Bubba sits and lies in front of everyone...

I refuse to be a part of their hipocrisy. I do not enter council chambers until after they have committed their hipocritical act of praying in Gods name KNOWING they have every intention of screwing the taxpaying citizens of this city in one way or the other and then lie about it. Then there is Shanie always talking about things they do in church, is this before or after the time spent with Heineken at the VFW?
I know somewhere in the bible it says something about hipocrits gathering in public praying in Gods name. The author must have forseen Barrie Tilghman and her pawns.
Those people are praying they don't get struck by lightning for all of their evil deeds.

If he did in fact park in a handicapped spot, why not call someone to have his vehicle towed.
I would not have bothered asking him, just have him towed.

From what I've read on this blog, you all just leave it to this Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen -- where the HELL is your support for them now that you've got them in office? In anonymous comments on a blog? (Even a good blog, Joe, wink, wink.)
And Joe Albero is the only one with his name on here AND speaking up at meetings, even before he owned property there because he cares.

"Separation of Church and State" means the State CANNOT force you to practice a specific religion. That you are free to practice whatever is your choice. Laws made in the days of the power of the church of England over all it's colonies. (Why we had the Revolutionary War.)

You are wrong. Flat out wrong. The courts have decided this again and again--it is unconstitutional to privilege ONE religion above others. As I said earlier: they do have the right to recite the Lord's Prayer, but only if they rotate it with other religious views. I love how people ignorant of American history argue that our history shows that there should not be a separation of church and state. Uh, why did the Pilgrims leave? Oh yeah, so they would stop being persecuted for their religious beliefs! Of course, then they turned around and started persecuting others for their beliefs (even executing people for the audacity of being Quakers). If you would like to live in a theocracy, move to Iran. See how well that is working for them?

Either you do not know the law or you haven't seen what the council does. The city council LEADS the Lord's Prayer, to the exclusion of other religious benedictions. This is patently unconstitutional, and if I wasn't so lazy I would cite the case law for you. I guarantee the courts would rule against the city, no doubt about it. You are simply wrong. Now, our city attorney should be advising the council that they CAN rotate the Lord's Prayer with other prayers, OR they can allow for a moment of silent reflection where you can silently recite the Lord's Prayer or try to remember what you were supposed to get at the grocery store. But if Wilber advised that, he would have to charge the city to do all sorts of "research" to find exactly what I am telling you here for free. Case after case about government officials doing exactly what the council is doing have consistently ruled that it is wrong. You can wait until someone sues the city and it costs money to defend a position that has been ruled against over and over, or you can do the right thing and simply call for a silent moment of reflection. Man, I hope you aren't Paul Wilber, because I would hate to think the city attorney really is that ignorant.
