The Complex That Cal Built?

The Daily Times did a big story about the new Stadium in Aberdeen that Cal Ripken was involved in. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Cal Ripken and everything the man stands for. However, the Daily Times neglected to write a FULL story about how Aberdeen has been looking at bankruptcy over its involvement with this massive and expensive project. For all we know, they could still be looking at bankruptcy down the road. It talks all about Cal and all he did to make it happen. While that may be true, his bringing the idea to the area, they do not mention any of the financial hardships it has brought on to the area as well. Read their article HERE.

That being said, I with Cal and Billy the very best but I wish the Taxpayers of Aberdeen even more luck.

Only thing about Cal (we love him dearly)is that he signed on with Comcast to advertise their great American rip off.
It's doubtful, he needed the money.

Good Post.

This monstrosity -- it rivals our "Youth & Civic Center" as a white elephant at the taxpayers expense -- is the reason why Aberdeen is the only town in Maryland where the tax rate has gone up more than in Salisbury during the past 10 years. Not even Barrie Tilghman can beat Cal Ripoff.

Well the Steelmen do send us some very good ball players, so that is a positive for what Cal is doing in Aberdeen. Most of this years good players on the Shorebirds came from Aberdeen.
