Why Is Joe Frazier Using A Walker At 64 Years Of Age?

At first I wasn't going to show this photo because I didn't want to leave a lasting impression on so many thousands of people viewing this Site each day.

However, once I learned from Joe why he was in fact using the walker I felt it was important to share what I thought was the greatest story of all the ones we shared together that day.

You see, Joe Frazier recently had back surgery and that was the only reason why he was using a walker. So why would Joe Albero Post this picture? Because I want it to be a forever lasting memory in your mind, allow me to explain.

In a private conversation I learned that Joe Frazier and another former Heavyweight Champion of the World were actually best friends. Over time, managers had pretty much screwed Joe Frazier out of the money he had made but another Fighter never forgot how special Joe Frazier is/was and his name is Larry Holmes.

Once Larry had learned Joe Frazier had some very serious back problems, Larry Holmes sent him to the very best Doctors and paid for 100% of his medical bills, including his surgery.

Joe said Larry Holmes told him, "If Larry Holmes has $4.00 to his name, Joe Frazier has $2.00 of it." So when you think back and remember seeing Joe Frazier using a walker, remember that another one of the greatest fighters on Earth, (Larry Holmes) was a part of making Joe Frazier's life that much better.

Actually, even if Joe Frazier was using a walker just because he was 64, I'd consider it a role model picture.

People who use walkers are people who aren't willing to give up doing for themselves.

They are to be admired, never pitied or put down.

Joe:

That is totally AWESOME and shows true spirit of a gentleman.

Your posts this weekend made me think back to seeing Mohammed Ali in Hollywood back in the early 1980's.

He had some very sleazy people "managing" him during a time that his illness was really kicking in.

They paraded him around town (Hollywood) like a pet and he simply did not know what was going on.

I thought what they were doing was criminal and immoral.

After that people stepped up to the plate and helped the champ.

Joe Frazier, Mohammed Ali are GREATS, I mean GREATS from a bygone era when they really fought.

Words cannot express the admiration I feel for Larry Holmes after reading this post. Joe Frazier, I admire you for coming forward with this story also. If you only have one true friend like this in your life, you are still truly blessed. Many never have such a friend. Joe Albero, thank you for posting some good stuff lately. Beats just reading about the crap that is Salisbury and its administration (except the classy ladies, of course)!

Don King screwed so many boxers he robbed them blind. It's no wonder there was a decline in the sport.
