What the hell happened to the United States Post Office?
As I always recalled, the Post Office had hours of 8 to 5 and now it's 9:30 to 4:30? Talk about a load of crap! Yes, this is even at the main Post Office. What Idiot came up with these hours as being convenient for the CUSTOMERS spending the money to keep these a$$holes in business?
OK, now come back and blast me and tell me how long this has been going on.
I should add, my Mother In Law just came by and filled me in on the Post Office hours. I have not personally seen these hours but she just came from two different locations and stated they posted new hours.

Looks like the Main Office is 8:00-5:00pm and a couple others. This off the USPS website

That's ridiculous.
They may be trying not having to pay time and a half for overtime. They make a good hourly wage, time and a half would be up there. All jobs look easy until you have to do it. With the price of fuel, I expect another hike in postage and if fuel keeps going up we might be looking at Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday deliveries.
We have a business in Salisbury and have had our post office box for 30 years. In the past, the mail was in the box by 8:30 a.m. SHARP which is why we had a post office box. In the past year, NO mail has been in the box if we are lucky by NOON. We would be better off getting rid of the box and saving the money, but at this point, we are taking a wait see attitude. We need to post our checks, make deposits, and fill our orders that come in daily. This has become awkward for us and takes time out in the middle of our day! We have been sick of this and probably after 30 years give up our box. It has gone the way of the Daily Times and we quit that 10 years ago. Joe, thanks for being our source of news and a place to enlighten each other! We are now in Georgia with relatives, but are keeping up with notes of interest in Salisbury for the moment. Home soon. Signed, Spice
I used to be the last on this delivery route, I never got mail before 4PM and there was a bar code in my box for the delivery person to scan showing that was the time of their last delivery.
They must have changed the route up, I now get my mail from noon until 3PM.
If the post office is part of the free market economy, then we should be able to expect good service. We should also be able to expect that their service would be accessible, both to the businesses and to the people, otherwise what's the point? I work from 9-5 M-F and cannot leave work to go to the post office, therefore must go on the way to work, before 9 a.m. If they are going to continue to reduce the opportunities to do business with them, they're going to make themselves obsolete. What needs to happen is for FedEx or UPS to come up with a letter delivery service so that there is competition.
Next we can solve the problem with the monopoly that the cable people have going on.
Use CLICK AND SHIP. You can buy anything you need, get free shipping materials, print out your shipping label and schedule a pickup all from your computer. The only thing I would suggest is to buy your stamps from the post office or have your carrier deliver them to you if you are rural. It took 3 weeks to get a roll of stamps ordered on the website.
i wouldnt come down on the postal workers that hard, you did know the hand gun ban failed. dont get them angry.
Has anyone else noticed that the Drive Thru at the Mian Post Office is now closing for lunch? I guess they can't afford a replacement for a lunch break for Mr. Louis?
Heck we have several mail persons in our route. We have one lady who is great, hits our box by noon, the others are horrible. They show up late in the day and have shoved new mail on top of out going mail on several occasions. I found a bill I was mailing back crammed into the back of my mail box as the lady shoved everything in without looking and folded the envelope up into the back of the box. Same lady left a refused package in my box and placed more mail on top of it. I chased her down and made her take it. Sorry but if I am paying more money for postage I better get the service.
The Post Office across from the old Dressers is always closed on Saturday's all day. They should at least put a stamp machine outside.
Still .42 cents isn't much to get a letter to California, 3000 miles away.
The RT 50 post office is open from 8-5 as well as the Fruitland Post Office. The College Square branch is the only one that I know of open 9:30-4:30.
