Will Pete Richardson Be Eating His Own Words?

Today in the Letter to the Editor Section of the Daily Rag, Mr. Pete Richardson wrote a brief message about Rai Sharma and his 30 years of service to Wicomico County.

As I know Pete Richardson, he is an outspoken resident of Wicomico County and owner of Richardson Auction Company, (or something like that). Pete has always been known for speaking his mind and believes whenever he speaks, everyone should listen. It's an Eastern Shore thing.

Many might say the same about me but at least many can come back on this Blog and say their peace, believe me or not or like me or not. In Pete's message, I have to wonder if Pete didn't speak a bit too early?

The reason I say this is, I have heard that Rai, (a man I truly respected) could allegedly be involved in what has happened within Public Works. The good part for Rai so far is, he hasn't been charged with anything. I too would like to believe Rai had nothing to do with everything that has been exposed but I'm told by reliable sources that may not be the case?

Many comments have been posted here stating, how can he have been the head of all those departments and not have some involvement? There's no question that after what has already been exposed, Rai was NOT doing a very good job, period. That just can't be denied. This is also one reason why I can't appreciate Pete's letter today.

Common sense says, all that has gone wrong, it's hard to believe millions of dollars went unaccounted for and until it has been proven Rai had nothing to do with it. If I were in Pete's shoes, I would have stayed away from such a message until everything had been fully exposed and everyone had been charged.

Many years ago, many of you may recall the Pastor in Bowie that swore he had nothing to do with the bombings at the Abortion Clinics, remember that? I lived in Bowie at the time and I knew MANY people that went to that Church. Several people actually put out a second mortgage on their homes to help pay for lawyers to defend the guy. Turns out he was guilty as sin and a Pastor had lied to everyone. Be careful who you back and trust Pete.

Pete Richardson thinks his sh*t doesn't stink and is very arrogant. He's a salesman of the worst kind and would sell his own mother for the right price. His letter to the editor didn't impress me but then again nothing Pete ever does impresses me anyway. I hear he even puts in spotters at many of his auctions to frive up the price of anything he's selling. He's as untrustworthy as Rai Sharma, two of a kind.

It's well known that Pete knows to look for the shills at his auctions. That's about as dishonest as you can get in my opinion.

I've seen first hand the shill in action at a house auction. Ended up the shill was the high bidder, and the house wasn't sold.

Anon 5:46 - Spotters are placed at auctions so that bids are not missed. Standing in front of a crowd it is sometimes difficult to see all those who are bidding.

Pete Richardson is a good businessman and a kind and honest person.

Does anyone know if shill bidding is illegal? I know he purposely looks for the shills to drive the prices up. I knew a guy who did it. If it isn't illegal it should be. Someone should look into this.

If Pete Richardson is a "kind and honest person" Then the sun is purple, the moon is black and child porn is good family entertainment! He'd sell a dead mans' casket as new! If you've seen the real Pete Richardson in action you'd know the truth about him. And it runs in the family!

6:33 Anon: We're not talking about missing bids. We're talking about people at auctions who have NO intent on buying, only to drive the price up to protect the seller.

I agree. It should be illegal to do that.

The only honest Auctioneer is Doug Marshall.

Shill bidding at auction is illegal in all 50-States.

Bid spotters are also known as ringmen who are identified by the auctioneer to the crowd of bidders.

As an auctioneer I want to make sure that everyone knows who is working for the auction company.

That is one more reason why we only allow registered bidders and their guests to attend real estate auctions.

There is simply too much money on the table to play games of entertaining a big crowd to sell one piece of property.

Its a sad commentary to see this many complaints about one auctioneer when there are only a handful on the Eastern Shore.

I Disagree Anon:8:27. Marshall's did a auction for me and ended up taking half of the sale! Get a attorney to take a look at the contract before you sign anything!
The sliding scale they use was only supposed to go up to 37% but in the end it was 50%! Go Figure!
I will never use an auction service again due to this deception!

"If I were in Pete's shoes, I would have stayed away from such a message until everything had been fully exposed and everyone had been charged."
Isn't that exactly what you are doing in this post?? Maybe you should actually heed your own advice. You have condemned Mr. Sharma before "everything had been fully exposed and everyone had been charged."

How are we supposed to believe a comment like the one above if there's no name to it. As far as I'm concerned, that could have been drafted by Pete Richardson?

I have sources Pete Richardson doesn't have. That's why I'm in this business and Pete is in another business.

Time will tell.

Why wouldn't Sharma help with the investigation? Why not stay on and help get to the bottom of the matter? As a citizen who knew nothing about the matter - prior to the case being blown wide open in the media . . . I wonder who is this Sharma? What kind of person would quit the job when crimes have been committed? Doesn't he realize that strangers will think the worst? Doesn't he care? Where is the public apology for sleeping on the job? At least give us that Mr. Sharma.

I have to say that Joe and his commenters are on target with this one.

There is only one good and honest auction company in the area. That is Eastern Shore Auctions! They have a top notch guy running the operation who is as honest as the day is long! I highly recommend them to anyone! They don't have hidden fees and/or shills when they conduct their auctions unlike other high profile auction companies in the area.

Is this any different than running with a story before you know it is true. (landfill pollution)

Real Estate auctions have reserves. An attempt is made to meet that reserve, for the seller. Once the reserve is met, the property is sold. Most auction companies will attempt to stimulate bidding up to the reserve price.

Real estate auctions do not necessarily have a reserve. Marshall sold a property for us a couple of years ago and everything was above board.

I have know Pete Richardson for years and he is just a big ole peacock. I attended an auction that Richardson held and knew that someone had put in a pre bid that was rejected. Just so happens that person and the fireplace were the only ones bidding and the house went for the same price as the pre bid.
