Well Mike, first of all, the Mother is not my Daughter. Nor is she my Step Daughter. Secondly, my Grandson's Father is not my Son either, he's my Step Son. I'm not very proud of his behavior as many parents today are experiencing with their children.
It's a different world any more Mike and if you took some time out and asked around, far too many Grandparents are raising their Grandchildren. All that being said, I do judge myself as a successful Father/Grandfather.
I have agreed to raise our Grandson as if he was my own child, unconditionally. His real blood Grandfather has nothing to do with this child. His Mother's Father, (his other Grandparents) are raising the other Grandchild and feel the same way, he is their child now. They participate with our Grandson and love him more than life itself.
He's not a bastard child but let me assure you, this guy gets more love and attention than he's ever had in the past and his life is stable. As far as calling his Mother a whore, would you call your own Daughter a whore, ever? I find your comment completely out of line and I believe others will as well.

I'm disappointed because this guy wrote his feelings and had them published, and I'm disappointed that Joe felt the need to respond on-line.
Such a nasty, mean-spirited comment should have been one of those "consider the source" circumstances. If someone has some personal gripe with the guy, who happens to own and control this valuable source of local news, they should send him an email to his personal address and he should respond in the same way. Personal animosities, whether they be justified or not, should not be part of this site, if it is to be taken seriously... either way.
I don't always agree with what you post, Joe, or with your views, or what you say on certain issues, but that comment was 100% repugnant. I'm sad that instead of holding up firefighters as heroes for my daughter, I'm going to instead have to keep her away from these men, who should know better, but who might someday call her a whore. That comment turned my stomach.
Shame on you, Mike Fields, your behavior in making that comment was reprehensible, no matter how you feel about Joe Albero. I wonder how your own mother would feel if she saw that comment. I'll bet she tried to raise you to respect women. Again, shame on you.

Please go to the other Firefighter post from yesterday, that is where Mike posted his comment. It was NOT a personal e-mail, HE made his words public.
You may not like the fact that I turned it into a post but I believe the Public should be well aware of what some Firefighters locally are capable of and how my Family gets treated.
This site is here to educate the public about local issues not normally covered by the Daily Times. It offers each one of you the chance to debate each and every topic.

I am pretty new here to Joe's Blog, but enjoy it tremendously. I do not always agree with Joe, or his use of words at times, but news is news. However, the fact that his grandchild is being raised by him has not one thing to do with this blog. Thank goodness Joe and his wife welcomed this beautiful child into their home and hearts..if more people were like them, this world would be a better place. Opinion is opinion, but personal attacks are pure childish..I don't care what Mike Fields does for a living, I am sure glad his desk is not next to mine! Keep up the good work Joe, keeping us informed, and being a great Pop-Pop to your grandson!
I don't see a single Mike Fields listed as a member of any Wicomico County Department. All but one or two departments have a website with a members list.

Joe i dont know you and i dont know Mike or othes mentioned in this blog....however i have been reading this garbage blog for some time. What goes around comes around. You Joe constantly bash other people and slur their families. Go ahead and deny it. but is is true .....you do. Maybe you dont realize it. Look at how you treat Ray Lewis and Barry Tilghman or county workers and the DT. Granted you dont like these people however that doesnt give you the right to treat them like you do. They to have families that care about them just as you care about your family. People do make mistakes. Look for instance Davis Ruark you constantly condone his behavior but yet slam Ray Lewis. You want the public to give Davis a fair chance and wait things out till it goes to court so that he can have his day but you dont do that to Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis deserves his day in court just as Davis does. Barry & her daughter deserves the same rights just as your grandson does. I dont care how pissed off you get at someone, it never gives you the right to talk about a mans family or a child who has no control over their situation. Since no one claims to know "Mike Fields" in the fire department, I am going to assume that it someone even more of a pu$$y. You are going to talk $hit like that AND use a fake name? I know first hand what it is like to grow up without one of your parents in your life because their priorities were out of wack and they didnt want anything to with you. That can stick with a person for life especially when they get old enough to know better. In Joes grandsons instance, it is clear to see that he is fortunate to have loving grandparents to take him in as their own. So to "Mike Fields", why dont you man up, and put your real name next to an apology.
Okay, Joe has enemies, that is obvious. However, his grandson is an INNOCENT child! The mayor, Mr. Lewis, and Davis Ruark are adults in positions that hold them accountable for their actions. I have yet to read a single post from Joe that attacks a child. Seems to me there is a great deal of hatred toward Joe and certain people here are using his grandson to deliver a low blow. Again, attack Joe if you will, he is a grown man who CAN and Will take up for himself, but leave that child alone. i'm a new reader finding myself coming back here daily. normally the first blog is of a serious "Salisbury" matter but as we know today was quite different. being the nosy person i am, i was interested in seeing your comments back to mike fields. i must say joe, i was pleasently surprised at your very mature,calm, decent, and respectful answer to a dispicable comment. i believe you handled yourself well like a proud and respectable gradfather does. i believe in years to come your grandchild will have the same integrity you showed here.

it pains me deeply to see so many many vishous comments made back to this mike fields person. calling him an idiot seemed to be the number one choice and so many other names i cannot remember nor do i want to. ....because i too said "his comments" were dispicable, and they were. the problem i have is when some of us are faced with something as sickening and heart wrenching as this, how do we respond? what is the correct responce. again i think you joe did a great job and i believe we would all serve our community better by following joe's maturity with no name calling and no bashing back in return.

Mike Fields needs to get his facts straight before he starts name-calling. How many skeletons are in his closet? Maybe he needs to clean out that closet before he opens his mouth again!! Many young people make mistakes and hopefully, they learn from them. I respect Joe for giving this innocent child a life!!
Any one who can speak ill or say such an awful thing about a young innocent child, speaks volume about their true personality, and would be a person i would not want to be around or associated with.
