Hebron Public Hearing Set For Feb 28th

The Hebron mega-development of Waller Landing comes before the Hebron Planning Commission for public hearing this THURSDAY 2/28/08 AT 7:00 P.M. at the Lion’s Club, 214 W. Chestnut Street, Hebron.

This project calls for 1,691 residential units plus 450,000 square feet of commercial on 400 acres of rural farmland.

It is proceeding DESPITE not being in compliance with Wicomico County Comprehensive Plan, the County Water and Sewer Master Plan and the draft County Water and
Sewer Master Plan. As the County has not granted a waiver, it is also under the Five Year Rule for no rezoning due to substantially different land uses.

As Hebron advertised this hearing only one time l4 days ago (its Charter allows that) everyone who cares about growth issues is urged to attend and express
your interest and concern.

Sounds like this project should never have left the starting gate. Why shouldn't Hebron and this developer have to abide by the law and regulations like all other towns and projects? For sure, something isn't right here.

This property has good access to Route 50 and is inside the Town limits. Even if the total amount of growth on the site may be questionable, there is no question that it is ripe for development.

Contrast this with what has happened around Sprawlsbury with such subdivisions as Fox Chase, Deer Harbour, Nithsdale, Nutters Crossing, Sassafras Meadows and now the old Aydelotte Farm.

anonymous 2:27--Sorry, but you're wrong here. This type of commercial is not even allowed by the ordinance. And a l6-bay gas station as the entryway to the Town--how quaint!

This project bears no resemblence to Fox Chase, Deer Harbour, Nithsdale, Nutters Crossing, Sassafras Meadows, etc. It is more like Booth Street, Lake Street and Isabella. The residents who enjoy the rural peace of this side of Hebron do not want the Hebron Project to move forward.

If the development doesn't meet the requirements of the law, why is there so much discussion? It doesn't go forward. Do we always have to pass laws and let developers ignore them?

WHERE DOES HEBRON STAND ON THAT GREEN MATTER THAT WAS FOUND LEAKING FROM ON OF THEIR SEWAGE PIPES IN THE RIVER??

Hebron officials are blatantly ignoring the law on this and have pushed Waller Landing through with not even in depth questions asked at the Planning level. Hebron leaders (and I use that term VERY loosely to describe them) have ignored for a long time the needs of current taxpayers and residents --instead they have been pushing this development as vocal proponents of the developer. Heck, Hebron is courting him so openly that it is embarrassing to watch.

3:41, you're a dreamer. Law doesn't matter to Hebron at all--they are so arrogant as to believe they don't have to listen to anyone from the State or County and do not have to abide by what other municipalities know is the law.

Hebron will be acting on behalf of the developer -- this is what has happened throughout the process from the time the land was originally bought. Why would a town do this? Think about it.
