A Message From County Executive Rick Pollitt

Call it Watch Dog, Whistle Blower, whatever you like. County Executive Rick Pollitt wants to make it VERY CLEAR, IF you know of any wrong doing going on in ANY Department in Wicomico County, he encourages you to come to his Office and speak up immediately.

They want to also express that even though there is a Chain Of Command Policy, you come to his Office and you will NOT be retaliated against. Rick has expressed this since he came into Office and right now more than ever, speak up and make things right.

If your Boss has told you that you'd get in trouble for going over their head, don't believe them. Write him, e-mail him or simply go to see him. "I don't care if I have to meet them in an alley at 6:00 in the morning, I'll do it," said Rick Pollitt. We are making arangements right away to add a section to our Web Site just for whistle blowers.

This man wants to get things straight in Wicomico County and he needs your help. If you ask me, you couldn't ask for a better guy to work for.

Just who will be monitoring this whistle blowers site? You can't trust anyone anymore. I'd rather meet in an alley than risk my name being turned over to pay the price Brenda Cox paid.

Looks like Wicomico County is cleaning house. Now if we could only clean up the city as well, starting at the GOB.

Sir:

The City of Salisbury needs this service, too, but better not send the info to Barrie (can you guess why).

Well, it sounds good on the surface, but I come from an organization that believes in the "Chain of Command" and I therefore wonder about this going direct to the top dog with problems. I think you may be asking for problems down the road, plus placing an awful load upon yourself alone. In my way of thinking, I would have the whistle blower talk first with their immediate boss and then come to me, with the guarantee that nothing can or will happen to this person for speaking up.

Its a little late for Mr. Pollitt to start pretending he is doing his job, the damage is done. He needs to follow Mr. Sharmai!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. This has been promised to employees before…”No one will find out” & before the employee got back to their job site from meeting admin in GOB, their boss knew where they were & why they were there. Mr. Pollitt needs to look real close at hidden “moles” within his GOB family. Believe me, this has been tried up North & harse punishment has been handed out to employees trying to save a sinking ship. It is not worth going through all the risk to report such things as discrimination & unappropriate budget practices when past consequences given to employees have been so harse. If you ever get a chance to talk openly to past H.R. Director Ed Cox, ask him about the cover-ups & he will tell you why he no longer works for the County. There was/is a “whistleblower” phone number available to County employees to report inappropriate practices but numerous complaints have fell on deaf ears because the previous County admin. ignored it & no investigations were performed. I will just continue to sit in my cubicle, staying quiet, & count down my days to retirement.

Maybe mailing information to Mr. Pollitt would be the way to go. Give details but don't sign your name.

While I agree with a chain of command, it is quite obvious the chains in Wicomico County and the city of Salisbury are broken in more places than one. Until the chain is replaced and strengthened, no one will trust anyone in a supervisory capacity. So it goes back to everyone goes to work, no one sees or hears anything and the dirty deeds continue with business as usual

Let me be blunt. IF you know of something and you don't come forward right now, you could be in some pretty deep troouble. This is certainly a positive invitation to HELP, not hurt. My guess is that the people talking negative about this have nothing to do with the problems at hand.

yeah remember Claude Holland? He went straight to the top (Nelms)under Nelms request and when he told the dirt he was immediately fired. So, how can people trust anyone in this county?

Again, you're under new leadership in BOTH Departments. You simply need to TRUST Mr. Pollitt and do what is right. I believe he is being honorable. Think about it. There have been several warnings out there for people to come forward. More than likely those who are willing already have. However, there are still people out there not deeply involved that may know SOMETHING. It is strongly suggested these people step forward and let Sheriff Lewis and or Mr. Pollitt know what they know to speed up this investigation and get it to closure.

Mr.Pollitt has failed to hire an internal auditor this position is mandated by the County Charter.Mr Pollitt is a typical liberal hack only interested in removing the cap with no concerns about how our money is spent he is the last person who would want anyone auditing the county books. If he was he better get an accounting firm to audit the civic centers revenue!!

ANON 1202==YOU CAN ADD THE INMATE PROFITS THAT ARE EARNED AT THE DETENTION CENTER.WHERE THEY GO AND WHAT THE MONIES ARE USED FOR?YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT THE AMOUNT IS GENERATED AND IT SURE DOSENT GO TO THE WICOMICO CONTY GENERAL FUND.GOOD LUCK.

Pollitt can't hire the internal auditor. Only the county council can do that. Pollitt has said many times around the county that he wishes the council would go on and do it.

Brenda Cox left for her own personal reasons, and as much as I dislike the City, they did not force her out of town.... she had her own reasons.

Anonymous said...

Ok, I'll give you that, they did not force her out of town. However, Barrie Tilghman is directly responsible for retaliating against Brenda for launching the recall petition. She is responsible for her loss of business, the stress on her marriage and her ultimate move out of town. Brenda and Buddy would still be there today holding their annual telethons had Barrie not show what a low life bitch she really is.
As soon as she could Barrie made changes to the city charter making it even harder to recall a public official. She did it to teach the peasants a lesson, to not buck up against her.

A. Goetz 650- the chain of command is only as good as the people in it the way i see it our chain is rusty

I think the combination on Mike Lewis and Rick Pollitt will get to the bottom of any misdoings. Mike Lewis has done more for Wicomico County in the short time he's been Sheriff than Hunter Nelms did his whole career. Claude Holland who did a super job was called in to Nelms to tell what he knew and the next day he was fired even though he was assured it would be confidential and he would look out for him. In my opinion he knew to much and Nelms knew it would come out. I don't think Mike Lewis or Rick Pollitt will react that way, they have a soul and conscience.

Rick:

Can you do me a favor and send this memo to Russ Blake in Pocomoke City?

Policy in Pocomoke is if you are thinking about telling what you know, your fired.

Better yet:

Can you communicate to the Citizens or City Workers that something WILL HAPPEN if they do drop a dime please?

The City has been sponsoring an open air drug market for over 20years with ground zero being a City Councilmans derelict property.

PLEASE SEND SOME OF THAT GOOD ANTI-CORRUPTION WORK TO POCOMOKE!

Who are you kidding! Claude Holland was a lietunant with 14 yrs. at the Sheriffs Office. When he was prpmpted by the Sheriff (Nelms) to tell what he knew about the Drill Academy he was removed less than 2 weeks later. This was a man with a spotless record. What did any member of Wicomico county do for him including the County Administrator. Four yrs later he is still fighting to get his job and reputation back. And before him was the Project Engineer for DRILL, Russell Cooper. Cooper was terminated for trying to disclose contractor corruption. Lets right those wrongs first, then maybe employees will have a little faith!
