Twenty-Third Birthday Celebration - Commemoration Of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Ladies & Gentlemen, this was an event! I counted more than 800 people and it was simply remarkable. Even Barrie Tilghman gave off a fantastic speech along with Rick Pollitt and so many others. The Choir gave you goose bumps and the atmosphere was one in which it brought us back to a time when Mr. King was still here doing wonderful things for this Country.

Might I add, a hat tip to the Chef's and the Staff. Just look at all the people being served, unbelievable!

What is their agenda for Presidents' Day?

[silence]

I thought so.

It means he's a Fire Fighter with his head up his a$$. I refuse to let this Post and the comments that come with it go downhill. However, it's important for everyone to see that there's still a problem here on the Eastern Shore in which NO ONE has had big enough ones to expose over the years. I do and I will.

Dan:

If this were a celebration of Thomas Jefferson or George Washington do you think those politicians would be there?

Do you see them at the Memorial Day event at the Civic Center or Veterans' Day (other than 1 or 2)?

"...(other than 1 or 2)?"

I think you answered your own question. I don't understand yoour criticism. I am no big fan of the majority of the local leaders, but I do not see what the issue is, if there is one.

Is your problem with the MLK celebration as a whole? Is your problem with the politicians? Society?

What is it?

Joe:

I hear that the best and maybe the biggest community celebration ever held at this building was the one that public-minded citizens held for Salisbury's former police chief Dykes after he was fired by Barrie Tilghman.

A @ 8:42:

That event you mention was truly memorable and well deserved by former Chief Dykes.

The abuse that he got from Barrie Tilghman is reprehensible. I think she got the City Council approve City funds to pay for services by Robin Cockey and T. J. Maloney who helped her bring charges against him until he agreed to being fired by her.

Do you know whether she attended that event?

This Post is about MLK, not Dykes. As I respect whim and what happened to him, this is NOT the place. No more comments unless it references this Post.

What is a commemoration? Webster doesn't seem to know.

Maybe Chief Webster doesn't do commemorations like he does commendations and citations.
