Slim Pickins

This is the entire Help Wanted section of The Daily Times today. That's right, the economy is shot, we've been in a Recession for at least 6 months, if not a year and businesses just aren't hiring.

However, if you want a gas burning SUV, there's several pages of those in the Want Ads as well as home/property foreclosures.

Greg Bassett really has some nerve advertising for a redelivery driver, to be paid mileage and by the hour while their regular, die hard, dedicated carriers are out in all sorts of weather, at all hours of the night/early morning for a lousy 8 cents a paper and NO MILEAGE or fuel surcharge.

Have you priced the cost of an ad in the help wanted section lately. You could run ads on WMDT or hire an agency cheaper and probably get better hires.

What is the latest on the Old Mall deal? Are the city residents on the hook for tht TIF if no construction is occuring?

Joe:
What if any pay scale? I watched the classifieds this past week and one thing employeers are not doing is posting the pay,.... most of the time. Could it be that they know the wage they are offering is not going to support a family? Maybe the jobs are so low skill level that the min wage group is the only ones that will apply? By the way the FUJA web site clothing line is awsome!!! I bet you get more FREE pub. than a little bit, and hits sore thru the roof when it hits the street. Sorry for them great for you! It is so good in fact I thought that you might be behind it, since I doubt that some others could pull this off, good for you joe.

The fact is, there are plenty of jobs out there. Most of them no longer advertise with the daily times, try the online sits and run a search for the area you'll find quiet a bit.

The prices of paper ads have driven most employment/rental/sales ads to the internet. Just check craigslist for Salisbury!
