Thats outrageous-if he was under the influence, and especially if he wasnt legally prescribed the drugs,he killed this man.The judge dropped the ball on this one.Why did this guy get such special treatment?

Fred should have stayed off of the street and he wouldn't be dead now!

Maybe a Fire House out there would have helped. Fruitland could have a substation besides the one they have in Allen

Mr.Kiviat had just as much of a right to be on the road as the driver did. Remember from drivers Ed. PEDESTRIANS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. !

I was in the courtroom when this was going on..10 years is the maximum sentence this kid could have received. His probation is 5 years long after he gets out...which is the maximum he could have received. So if he screws up at all when he gets out after serving a year and a half, he will have that 8 and a half years to still serve. My heart goes out to the family who lost their loved one, there is nothing that could bring back your father and husband. The judge did everything he could do to make sure justice was done, but what can you do when the maximum sentence is 10 years? It should def. be life without the possibility of parole, for acting that reckless and that idiotic on the road. Plus not to mention having no regard for human life. As I was sitting in the courtroom during the trial, it was described that Littleton almost hit two other people that were walking on the side of the road, prior to him striking Fred Kiviat. May God bless the family in this time, and let them know that the majority of the community supports them with the exception of the A Hole..Anonymous 5:16 PM.

Anon 5:16 is an a**hole and "Fed up in Salisbarrie" your an even bigger one. What an ignorant statement that you know it was a SBY F/F. You don't anymore know who made that comment than anyone else does. Shame on Joe for even allowing it to be posted as well as your dumb a** response!

well i just heard a convicted felon was arrested last week for burglary (several) and sale of stolen firearms. Dist Court Comm released this punk and you wonder why Wicomico County has so much crime Oh yea this punk was not alone, his friend in crime was arrested released also

Did you see who his attorney was?

Thank you to the Maryland State Police for recognizing that this person was under the influence and taking the proper steps at the scene to ensure that Littleton could be prosecuted and held accountable. Determining that someone is impaied by drugs, especially prescription drugs, is not an easy task.

"Did you see who his attorney was?"

Yes. As we used to say on the Men's Professional Billiard Tour, "YOU CAN'T BEAT LUCK!"

Even Charles Jannace said, it won't take long before this guy realized just how lucky he was to get such a brief sentence.

Who was his attorney?

I bet Sheriff's Office arrested the punk who stole firearms. GOOD JOB. it is not Law Enforcement's fault somepeople in the judicial system should not be there Dist Court Comm/ some Judges. just lock their ass up again.

Agreed. All law enforcement in Wicomico County(Salisbury PD, Fruitland PD, Delmar PD, Wicomico Sheriff's Dept. and the Maryland State Police) are doing their jobs. All citizens should be proud of their efforts and commitment. Once they are locked up, it is out of the police's hands.

I know mike personally and he is a good person besides his poor judgement, especially in this situation. It is a tragic event and I send my regards to the Kiviat family. I was also in that court room, and what has been failed to be mentioned was that mike was an excellent student who graduated highschool with nearly all A's. He also recieved a full ride to SU. He has a loving family, and an absolutely wonderful girlfriend who has stuck by his side through out all of this. He got involved with the wrong people, and when he gets released from jail, I know for a fact that he has a support system that will help him avoid any other wrongdoing especially to this extent. Yes, mike made wrong decisions but nothing can change what has happened. From what I understand, Mr. Kiviat was quite an extaordinary man, and it is a shame that his life ended so tragiclly. Even his wife testified that he was an extrememly forgiving man and he would want Mike to serve justice, he would also want him to be forgiven. The 18 month sentence with the 5 year probation following allows Mike an appropriate amount of time to learn from his mistakes, and also have a second chance at the outstanding life he could lead. I thank all of those who support him, and for those of you who dont, I hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive, since, I am positive that we have all made mistakes that need forgiven.
Thanks for your time and consideration.

Just to follow up on Robert Littleton, he's managing his own labor job and carrying out his persue of farming. Robert is not a bad person and knows he made a mistake and is now trying to start his life over again, doing the right things. So for all of you who said he should have served every day of the ten years, I am his sister and would be horrified to live 10 years without my loving brother who taught me everything. People make mistakes and some need a second chance to prove it was a horrible mistake that he, now, has to think about every day. I am personally glad he got to have a second chance at changing his life choices and decisions.

I knew Fred and his lovely wife Jan, Fred was a great man, and this irresponsible "straight A (Is that for Ass?)Student" KILLED him. Robert can get his "free ride" for his college in prison! Furthermore, I hope he didn't teach his sister to do drugs and drive while impaired. Sorry, I don't have any sympathy for you, as this was your brother's WILLFUL MISCONDUCT. I hope the other inmates take a Liking to him--- Repeatedly. preferably more than once a day for those 18 months.
