As if they didn't have enough problems at the Salisbury Zoo, I'm receiving e-mail messages this morning from Zoo Professionals flat out laughing at the Salisbury Zoo for running yet ANOTHER Ad with the AZA announcing the Directors position for the 3rd time!
Some of these people have already applied for the position once and are saying, are we not good enough to call back? So even if the Mayor instructed someone to call in former applicants, they're NOT going to show any interest!
You people need to get this House Wife Mayor out of Office and get someone in there who knows what they're doing! Then you need to kindly ask Ron Alessi and several other Zoo Commission Members to kindly step down and get some fresh blood with some new ideas in there to get things on the right track.
Stupid is as stupid does.

Is this what all the grumbling is about?
It is a sad situation with the zoo. There isn't anyone with much of a zoo background connected to the facility and they even have lost,3 or 4 years ago,the only caring vet and vet tech they had on board (Dr. Tragle and Jen Albero), so how will we ever entice a new director to take the job. It seems obvious to me that with three turn downs by supposed qualified individuals, that no one worth much is going to take the job,big salary or not. Clearing the Commission of all the old hands and get some persons in there who are really interested in moving the zoo forward, should help. I also think moving the zoo to a larger area would be in the interest of the animals, the staff and the patrons.

Get the zoo out of the flood plain that it's now in. That area could be a botanical display area, etc.
Who would even want all the problems with the zoo and funding dropped in their lap, even for $66,000 a year just to be a "Yes" man or women.
It's going to take a lot of money and a take charge person to bring the zoo back to life, and that WILL NOT happen with this administration.
Anyone who has any smarts wouldn't bother to apply. The place is on it's last breath, like everything else Tighlman has had the grubby hands on.
Joe should do a post on all the things BPT has destroyed since being in office. Lets start with the biggest fundraiser ever held annually on the eastern shore. Do you all remember the big MDA fundraiser Buddy and Brenda Cox used to put on? I'm sure MDA misses the money brought in by those folks. Is Barrie making up for their losses out of her own pocket? Not likely.
What else has Barrie and her team of schemers destroyed or shut down completely since her reign of terror?
