SALISBURY CITY PARK COMMITTEE PRESENTS MOVIES @ THE PARK

Bring a blanket and catch a FREE movie at the Salisbury City Park.
The Salisbury City Park Committee will host a free outdoor showing of the
original Star Wars movie in the Salisbury City Park on Thursday, November 8th,
beginning at 6:35pm. This event is sponsored by the Wicomico County Bar
Association.

Everyone is encouraged to come out, bring their blankets and catch a movie with
their neighbors as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars release.
This showing will be used as a pilot event and then developed into a series for
next year with the hope of four movies in the spring and four in the fall. All
movies will be “family friendly.”

Home Media One out of Lewes, Delaware, will be providing the movie, the outdoor
movie theater system, and all necessary staff to set it up. The movie will be
shown on a portable outdoor movie screen with a viewing area of 210 feet. The
City Park Committee has contacted the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. and will be
offering Pepsi soda products for purchase. Proceeds from the sales of
refreshments will be used to help with the financial commitment of the event.
Restrooms in the Bandstand will be made available for public use during the
event.

The City Park Committee has researched similar events in other communities of
various sizes and found no adverse affects. A uniformed Salisbury City Police
officer will be present at this event. The City Park Committee will make every
effort to leave the area of the event as it was found and provide numerous
waste and recyclable receptacles for the public’s use.

This one-of-a-kind event is designed to showcase Salisbury’s wonderful City
Park, adding to its appeal as a free public recreational resource and promoting
it as a place of community in the heart of our city. Approvals from the City of
Salisbury have been received. Rain date will be Friday, November 9th.

With all the #1's sure to be in attendance, this one could also be called weapons in the park.

This is Salisbury, I expect nothing less from them than to hold a movie in the park in November. And funded by the bar association. Do you want the attorney that came up with this date representing you?

Don't forget a plastic bag to lay down so you don't get covered in goose poo!!!!

The jokes for this one write themselves

Oh, stop being old poops! This sounds like wonderful fun! People do football games in the fall with blankets, why not this?

Summer's good, too, but it stays light so late, it's tough on parents with younger ones because it'll run way past their bedtimes.

I didn't realize Star Wars was THAT long ago. Boy, do I feel old!

Thanks, Joe, for posting something fun that the city is doing. I just popped on for a couple of minutes and caught this. Nice!

One of my all time favorite movies and I have to miss it. I hope the weather is good for all that attend. Take a jacket, blanket and some popcorn, enjoy a great movie and evening out with your friends and family.

They've been doing this in San Francisco for years, its a great time for all that take time to enjoy.
