100% Pay Increase, Yet They Now Want To Work Less

Louise, Gary & Shanie say they're spending far too much time in meetings and they're tired of Citizens going on and on repeating themselves and wasting the Council's time.

Oh, it didn't end there! Gary Comegys clearly stated that 2 hours is enough! "We get together, what, 24 times a year, no make that 22 times a year at 2 hours at a pop. That's 40 hours, right?" He then went on to say, "If things get redundant, if things get repetitive.... Time management is important. I mean, we've been here, what, almost 3 hours?" Terry came back and said, "Gary, we've been here 2 hours and 18 minutes." This guy is unbelievable!

Shanie clearly stated that if you don't live in the City or you don't pay taxes in the City, you shouldn't be allowed to speak during Public Comment. Shanie went on to say, "An effective meeting should only be 2 hours. You don't have to have public comment. That's a courtesy we're providing to the taxpayers."

Gary said, "if we had an hour we'd get it done in an hour. If we had 2 hours it would take two hours. If we had 3 hours it would take 3 hours. If we have to get it done in an hour I think we'd get it done."

Now let's see. The City council got a 100% pay increase and now they want less work? Trying to censor the "Dirty Dozen" is the goal here Ladies & Gentlemen. This is yet another clear example of how you just got screwed once again and if they have their way you'll never have the time to tell them that. They are putting a time schedule on everything, including the Pledge of Allegence and yes, even the Lords Parayer! Go to the City's Website and you'll see the agenda for the next Council Meeting. It's right there!

ANOTHER promise broken by LouWeasle--she said many times that she would NOT limit public comment and she wanted to hear from the citizens (oh, that's right, she said that during the election cycle).

Hey, buddy, you guys sought these City positions--so deal with it.

Dear Santa,

This year I want a recall.

I'm sick of all of the "I don't wanna sit here too long" three.

Please bring Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Cohen cushions to sit on. They don't mind staying until the work is done.

My cat would like a new boppy toy.

Thank you,
Your friend D.

Yeah, it's a real courtesy to listen to the taxpayers, Shanie! Thanks for really listening! By the way, how are they getting away with saying the Lord's Prayer before each meeting? The Supreme Court has been pretty clear on this one--general statements of faith are ok, but to have such a specific prayer led by the council seems to be a violation of the law. Now I'm sure all the arguments about this being a Christian nation, Founding Fathers, blah, blah, blah will come out, but the council should either adopt a moment of silent prayer, rotate ministers of different faiths, or just get on with the business of being council members! Clearly, appealing to the Lord to guide them hasn't made them make good decisions . . .

This is the same crap that Dunn and the Dream Team tried to pull -- maybe that's why Cathcart is always on hand when they meet.

Interesting that Bubba Comegys spends hours away from his SHA office whenever there's a public event involving the City (especially if it's catered). Louise Smith is a liar, plain as can be, and Shanie is a bad joke.

And they allow Barrie all the time she wants for her performances, including the corny "certificates of appreciation" at almost every meeting. It's ridiculous.

I don't know why council meetings have to be open to the public anyway. The council members could just meet among themselves and take care of all of the city business. In fact, we don't really need a city council; the "Mare" could take care of everything and save the city all of the council salaries. The "Mare" has our best interest at heart.....Right? It would make for a very smooth running and efficient government. Maybe the “Mares” legal council could look into that. Bubba could make the motion, and Ms. “Yeah, das what I be talking about” could second it. The vote would be 3-2 and it would all be over.

THEY DON'T HAVE TO HAVE PUBLIC COMMENT!!!!!???? IT'S A COURTESY????!!!!!

It's their JOB to listen to the residents. The citizens have a right to give their input. Maybe if those 3 would actually listen the first time things wouldn't be so "redundant".

Funny you should mention the Lord's Prayer thing. A friend of mine noted that to me the other day, that's it's unconstitutional because it's a Christian prayer.

(My friend's a Christian, me, too.)

As for the three who can't stand hearing from the public, are we going to just crab on a blog or are we going to recall them? I'd sign.

Watchfuleye has it right! These people on the Council (the three and the mayor) are there to hear what the citizens want, not the other way around. This council needs to listen closely what the citizens have to say and they are expected to act accordingly. No, these bozo's do as they darn well please, so it is definately time for some recalls, or reductions in pay, if they're not going to work for the public as they are paid to do!!

Wow. Well, you have to hand it to them. At least they are out in the open about their distain for the citizens of the community. It would be slimier if they were trying to be cloak and dagger about it all.

From this point forward, everyone who speaks during the public comments should begin their comments by saying: "Thank you so much for granting us this courtesy and for remaining here for such a long time, much longer than you want to be...." I mean EVERYONE should say this as a script. They think they are there a long time now?

Debbie and Terry must think this is hilarious.

Oh, and I am sure this will be covered on WBOC and the Times, right?

And Fnl Frontier is right about the prayer. Rotate faiths or drop it.

Off the subject, (slightly) but, speaking of the constitution and law, has anyone else noticed downtown at the courthouse, the flag (national ensign) is at half mast (in respect to a fallen HERO), BUT, the county/city pieces of cloth are flying full? Do we need a lesson in flag etiquette for the city...among other lessons?

The less they work, the better for Salisbury.

If only we could get them work so little that they don't ever show up to rubber stamp the Mayor's bad policy.

Hey Joe,
What's your scoop on the flag? Any pics? Good point.

Excellent point. That Fat @$$ would never get elected if the city was an at large voting district.

uh huh, dats rite!!! wares my chips??

These stupids--Gary, LouWeasle and Shanie--are truly beyond belief! I don't care of citizens want to speak for 6 hours--they should sit there and listen. Shanie says it's a "courtesy" that is granted to the citizens--how dictatorial is that? Shanie's getting much too uppity these days--she needs to be taken down a peg.

Let's see two hours times 21 meetings comes to 42 hours @ $10,000 per 42 hours that sounds about fair, where do I sign up for a job like that?

Shanie you don't listen, you huff and you puff and you FALL ASLEEP~! You'll sit there all night if there is a bowl full of candy. You won't have to worry about listening to the public after the next election. More Pork we can do without.

"Debbie and Terry must think this is hilarious." I doubt it. I think it turns their stomachs. For those "40 hours" Gary seems to think are put in at meetings, those two ladies probably put in 5 times as many. And he didn't bother to count the work session hours and other meetings and events. Gary, Shanie and Louise, as well as the mayor, should be recalled.

Hey, Dan! That's a great idea. People should be polite when they get up there.

But I like your addition! A little sarcasm dripping from the voice would help.

Hope everyone here is there Monday night with Dan's script in hand. Don't care what you comment on, but be there and share the love!

YES!

And Pick ,Oland and WIlbur should be fired for incompetency also.

Which one of you city residents/registered voters is going to initiate the recall?

Hopefully, the aforementioned repetition would yield RETENTION...with anybody other than these 3 BOZOs

Hopefully a real mayor will get elected and get rid of these dead beat chameleons. They are nothing but lying, worthless pieces of sh*t.

Hopefully a clean sweep will rid the city of cheef jak and koke and fire cheef wannabe’s sea, gordo and fatso. The lying J. Jacobs left so we don't have to worry about that department head. Not only should these department heads depart, but they should take their worthless followers with them.

Seriously folks, Bubba works for the SHA. When was the last time you saw one of those crews killing themselves? Does it really take 4 of them to replace a sign?

Bubba's just wants to do what he's used to doing. NOTHING.
