What can I say, Deputy Chief Gordy is definitely Pimping His Ride! His new Crown Vic is sitting at the Shop getting ready to have letters installed as well as an alleged $14,000.00 LED Light Package.
So just what in tar nation is the Fire Department doing with a Police Interceptor vehicle anyway? Oh, that's right, Gary Comegys already stated these are Boys with their Toys and they have to one up everyone else, especially before this Mayor gets out of Dodge.
Deputy Chief Gordy originally denied the vehicle was for him but there's no doubt in any one's mind that he will be driving in this vehicle. One way to prove it is, I now have the serial number off the vehicle and I will be checking it out at every opportunity to see if he is the one driving it. Funny thing is, he just got a new vehicle just over a year ago but like he always says, we live in a throw away society.
That being said, to ALL of the Salisbury Police Officers driving around in those beat up cruisers, I'm sorry you have to see this. I know, I know, they just got a new $14,000,000.00 Fire Palace. I know, I know, they just got more than $5,000,000.00 worth of new equipment. I really like seeing that 14 miles per gallon. There's no Highway driving in that puppy!
Clearly the Department Heads know how to get their toys for themselves and the real MEN & WOMEN who put their lives on the line come second. Makes for a great marriage, doesn't it? Honey, you have the peanut butter and jelly sandwich tonight and I'll eat the lobster. Oh, by the way, don't over cook it either!
A Letter I Received Last Night On The Westside Park

Regarding the Daily Times' Thursday story about $1.04 million being allotted by the gov. to fund the proposed Westside park. So please tell us how money has already been allocated when the county council has never, to my knowledge, (publicly) voted to support the proposed site (a requirement before funds are solicited), which is just down the road from the original proposed site that Pollit rejected. Fineran had "no comment on any ongoing negotiations"
What??? Don't you set a price and ask for funds BEFORE they are allocated AFTER negotiations???? Whats going on here. Pollitt assured those at the last meeting no decisions had been made, and no further information has been provided. And why, this time, was only one public meeting held....fears that the public would again overwhelming oppose it, I presume. All of this has apparently been done in the dark between Gary Mackes, Pollitt, and perhaps the council. I just don't think such a specific allocation is legal unless the county has secretly endorsed it already. At any rate, neighbors don't want it, the majority of those who speak and spoke at past meetings felt it was unneeded, and at any rate, the money is not going away. In fact, despite the current economic crisis, the Guv DID NOT TOUCH any Program Open Space Funds in his cuts and cutbacks. They continue to accrue and did not lose a penny.
The funds, based on real estate sales, are earmarked by county and are not a "use it or lose it" deal. In this economic climate, I find it hard to believe a better piece of property at a cheaper price can't be found. Word is (mentioned at the hearing) the area where the park is now proposed on Levin Dashiell Road failed perc tests when the owner tried to build some houses. So how was it valued at over a mil for 100 acres, if it cant be built on? Farmland value only. And this is being pushed through while the county's Comprehensive Plan appears poised to call for more farmland preservation. The whole deal stinks and we do not need this park.
Could the money perhaps be used instead to develop a truly needed boat ramp and marina at "Pirate's Cove" on Whitehaven Road. That property too was bought with Open Space funds a decade ago but never developed. Lets finish that first, eh? I hope this unneeded, intrusive proposed park--to be plopped into a quiet, rural, poorly-roaded site--can still be defeated.

There is a little known way to get locals via satellite i got this from a tech forum im not advocating it, but for people that want to its an option until the locals get on the ball
Step by step process for moving.
1. Pick a real city that you can get locals from by spot beam or conus beam.
2. Do a google search for movie theaters in that city.
3. Add an apartment number to that address you found from that google search.
4. Plug into address broker for DISH and see if you qualify.
5. Call DISH and say I moved to new address , here it is and by billing will stay what it already is (real address) and my phone number is staying the same as is.
6. Tell CSr that you want the locals for that new town . She activates them
7. Watch and enjoy your new locals.
**Remember you will need to do a switch check and let the receiver download the guide to get your full guide information or wait for 24 hours and it will update itself.

2. Run the address through the address broker on the dishnetwork website and see if you are eligible. If you are eligible and can receive them in a spotbeam of less than 100 miles or so , go to the tech chat on the dish website.
3. Sign in to the tech chat and tell the csr that you have already moved to the new service address and installed your sat dish and you are receiving all your national sat channels. You want to get the Cleavland locals instead of the ones you have now. Tell them that your billing address & phone number stays the same , just your service address is different.
4. The csr makes the change and you now have C. Ohio locals.
***Remember though that if you need to return a broken receiver to DISH that you will have to SPECIFY that they send the replacement receiver to your BILLING ADDRESS. If you want tech service , you will have to "move" back to your real address ,unless you use a local tech to fix your problem. I would also keep your new service address written down somewhere because DISH will ask for it at times , when you call in to talk to them."

On February 16, 2009 at approximately 9:47 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested the below listed suspect on a warrant obtained by Salisbury Police Investigators for an internal theft. An investigation revealed that while employed at a Hardee’s Restaurant in Salisbury, the suspect took U.S. Currency that was the property of the restaurant.
ARRESTED: Andree Lamont Purnell, 33 years of age Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES: Theft (over $ 500) (2 counts)
Theft scheme (over $ 500)
DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking CC # 200800041134
On February 16, 2009 at approximately 3:20 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the Food Lion Store on Snow Hill Road for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival the officers were advised by store security personnel that the below listed suspect had taken a quantity of meat and seafood from the store without making payment. Employees followed the suspect into the parking lot where the suspect threatened the employees with a knife, before fleeing the area in a vehicle. Officers responding to the area located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect, who was a passenger in the vehicle, exited the vehicle and threatened the officers with the knife before being overtaken and arrested. Contact with the driver of the vehicle revealed that the suspect had forced her to drive him away from the Food Lion by threatening her with the knife. A search of the suspect, incident to arrest revealed a smoking device containing suspected “crack”/cocaine.

Attempted murder (2 counts)

Night of Blues & Jazz At Break Time
On February 26th, Break Time bar & Grill hosts A Night of Blues & Jazz. Your $20 contribution covers all you can eat finger foods while you enjoy the live music of The Hill Street Blues Band. With a cash bar and live auction, this night promises long lasting memories.
The Hill Street Blues Band is a great supporter of the community and charitable events. In early February, they performed for the Community Emergency Shelter Program. The love using their talent to support the community. On February 26th, cancer awareness is the cause they will support. All proceeds benefit Women Supporting Women; a charity organization that provides awareness, education, friendship, and support for breast cancer survivors and their families.
In 2008, Kim Scott passed away after a long battle with cancer. Her husband, Pat Scott, dedicates this evening to her memory. The event is sponsored by Break Time, Pat Scott, and the Local Owner Restaurant Association “LORA.”

Tickets Sold Out for the James M. Bennett High School Rock 'n' Roll Revival
The second and final weekend of shows for the James M. Bennett High School Rock 'n' Roll Revival is sold out, with full houses expected at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The talent of dozens and dozens of James M. Bennett High School students took to the Bennett Auditorium stage last weekend and will be there again this weekend as the school puts on its popular Rock 'n' Roll Revival, a fund-raiser for the JMB PTSA. The 11th annual show has its largest cast ever -- 120 students -- to take the audience on a road trip through the music of the 1950s to 1980s. Registration Opens March 12 for Prekindergartners, Kindergartners and First-Graders New to School System for the 2009-2010 School Year
The first day to register children for prekindergarten and kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year in Wicomico County Public Schools will be Thursday, March 12.
On that day, Wicomico County elementary schools that have primary grades will begin enrolling children who will start prekindergarten or kindergarten next year, and children not in public kindergarten now who will be enrolled in the first grade for the 2009-2010 school year.
Parents or guardians will need to bring immunization records (please see a doctor or the health department to ensure that the child’s vaccination record is complete), birth certificate, Social Security card and proof of residency for each child. The table of state vaccination requirements may be downloaded from the Wicomico County Public Schools Web site at www.wcboe.org, under “For Parents.”
Registration takes place at each Wicomico school that serves primary grades (prekindergarten through grade 2), from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Exceptions are: Willards Elementary and Delmar Elementary, 8:15-11:15 a.m. and 12:15-3:15 p.m.; Fruitland Primary, Westside Primary and Beaver Run Elementary, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Prince Street Elementary, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Schools will register children every day after the March 12 opening day.

Kindergarten is mandatory for all 5-year-old Maryland children unless the parents or guardians have sent a letter to the school requesting a later start. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2009. Prekindergarten is not mandatory, and is offered to qualified children who will be 4 by Sept. 1, 2009. Maryland and Delmar, Del., neighborhood children who come from low-income or at-risk situations, have prior participation in Head Start or Even Start, or who experience challenges like emergency or health problems, limited English proficiency, homeless, or other home or family circumstances, will be given priority admission to prekindergarten. Children may also be recommended for the program by government or court referral. Parents or guardians whose child does not meet those criteria can put the child’s name on a waiting list, which will be used to fill any remaining slots. Documentation must be submitted prior to a child’s acceptance into the program.
The first day to register children for prekindergarten and kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year in Wicomico County Public Schools will be Thursday, March 12.
On that day, Wicomico County elementary schools that have primary grades will begin enrolling children who will start prekindergarten or kindergarten next year, and children not in public kindergarten now who will be enrolled in the first grade for the 2009-2010 school year.
Parents or guardians will need to bring immunization records (please see a doctor or the health department to ensure that the child’s vaccination record is complete), birth certificate, Social Security card and proof of residency for each child. The table of state vaccination requirements may be downloaded from the Wicomico County Public Schools Web site at www.wcboe.org, under “For Parents.”
Registration takes place at each Wicomico school that serves primary grades (prekindergarten through grade 2), from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. unless otherwise noted. HSA Academy Open House
Parents, Seniors Invited to HSA Saturday Academy Open House 8:15-11:15 a.m. Saturday at James M. Bennett High
An Open House at the HSA Saturday Academy will be held from 8:15-11:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the James M. Bennett High School media center. This open house is for parents and seniors who must still meet the state's HSA requirement to graduate.
This will be an opportunity for students who will take the April HSA restests or students who will take the May HSAs to get more information about the test preparation they can get at the Saturday Academy. The purpose of Saturday Academy is to provide high quality instructional remediation and test-preparation to Wicomico County public high school students to help them achieve success in meeting the Maryland State HSA testing requirements. Students who plan to take the spring HSA exams are strongly encouraged to attend.
