As Rent Moratorium Expires, Landlord-Tenant Battles Begin

Readers may recall the eviction moratorium expired a little more than a week ago nearly four months after the US economy effectively shut down due to the covid pandemic. 33% of renters have yet to make their full payment in July, a recent survey showed. This means that 12 million renters could be on the cusp of eviction in a matter of months.

Landlords are set to lose billions of dollars this year over the inability of tenants to pay rent thanks to the virus-induced recession. With much of chaos and disagreement on Capitol Hill about the next round of stimulus, nevertheless, no deal on a rent moratorium extension, landlords are now demanding back rent and August payment.

While the exact cause of the landlord-tenant dispute turned violent in Georgia Sunday morning has yet to have an underline cause, one can only assume it might have been due to payment.

FOX 5 Atlanta's Kaitlyn Pratt quoted Gwinnett County Police's twitter on early Sunday morning of a dispute between the landlord and tenant.

Pratt tweeted, "LANDLORD-TENANT FIGHT Brings SWAT to a neighborhood. Landlord faces Battery, Obstruction of Justice and Terroristic threats."

Democrats Reject One-Week Extension Of $600 Unemployment Boost Amid Otherwise 'Productive' Talks

The Trump administration and Democratic leadership say that while they are nowhere near a deal on the next COVID-19 stimulus package, they made "progress" during a three-hour meeting on Saturday.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said that the meeting was the "most productive we've had to date," echoing comments by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who told reporters after the meeting "We’re not close yet, but it was a productive discussion. Now each side knows where they're at."

The rhetoric following the weekend meeting marked a notable thaw between Democrats and administration officials following days of heated remarks, including on Friday when Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows traded barbs during dueling press conferences.

Meadows — who had previously told reporters that he was not optimistic about the chances of a deal in the upcoming week — called Saturday the "first day of a good foundation." -The Hill

"We're still a long ways apart, and I don't want to suggest that a deal is imminent, because it is not. But like with any deal, as you make progress, I think it's important to recognize you're making progress," said Meadows.

That said, Democrats wouldn't budge on temporary relief for struggling Americans - balking at a White House proposal for a one-week extension on the $600 supplemental benefit, which lapsed two days ago.

"We proposed a one-week extension at $600 so while we negotiate, at least those people won’t lose their money," Mnuchin toldABC News' "This Week" on Sunday, adding "I’m surprised Democrats don’t want to agree with that. They’re insistent on having this as part of a larger deal."

Treasury Secretary Mnuchin tells @MarthaRaddatz “there’s no question” that $600 unemployment insurance is a disincentive to find a job in “some cases.”

“There are cases where people are overpaid,” he adds when pressed about study refuting his argument.https://t.co/HNQgCe39RN pic.twitter.com/1zceOdxULW— This Week (@ThisWeekABC) August 2, 2020

According to Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Democrats are seeking a comprehensive package, and not "a piecemeal approach."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the GOP have proposed a $1 trillion plan, while Democrats are holding steady at a $3 trillion package they approved over eight weeks ago.

MINNEAPOLIS POLICE TELL RESIDENTS TO SURRENDER TO CRIMINALS & ‘BE PREPARED’ TO GET ROBBED

‘Do not argue or fight with the criminal – do as they say,’ reads police email

The Minneapolis Police Department told residents last week that they should “be prepared” to surrender their belongings to criminals and obey their commands.

With Minneapolis experiencing a 46% increase in carjackings and a 36% increase in robberies compared to this same time last year – thanks to the far-left city council all but defunding law enforcement – MPD has issued a citywide email warning residents not to resist the emboldened criminals.

“Be prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet,” the police said in their email, adding that citizens should listen to criminals and “do as they say.”

DOLLAR CRASH WILL TOPPLE THE ENTIRE US ‘HOUSE OF CARDS’ ECONOMY BY YEAR END – PETER SCHIFF

“The entire house of cards economy that has been erected over the years, and the Federal Reserve has been the architect of this house of cards economy, is rested on the foundation of the dollar’s reserve currency status.”

No one seems to be worried about the falling dollar, veteran stockbroker Peter Schiff writes on Twitter, as the US currency continues to slide versus major rivals amid gold and silver record growth.

According to Schiff the ignorance is “likely to remain the case until the fall becomes a crash, which I don’t think will begin until the Dollar Index breaks 80. At its current rate of decline that level could be breached before year end, perhaps by election day.”

The decline of the US dollar accelerated in recent weeks on a rise in coronavirus cases in the United States and indications of a pickup in global economic activity. The ICE US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major rivals, fell 0.4 percent on Friday to 92.635 and traded at its lowest since July 2018. Meanwhile, gold continued its rally to hit fresh all-time highs.

Democrats’ Policies Are Unfit For The Presidency

For four years, Democrats have been trying to cement in voters' foreheads the idea that Trump is unfit for office. Perhaps that's because Democrats' policies never have been as unfit for the office as they are now.

In 2016, the news-minding public endured an endless chant branding Donald Trump’s character and personality as “unfit” for office.

It was a slogan deployed against him by no less than President Obama and Hillary Clinton. Clinton debuted it in a major campaign speech echoed in a campaign adfeaturing conservative writer Charles Krauthammer. In her speech, Clinton calledTrump “tempermentally unfit to hold an office that requires knowledge, stability, and immense responsibility. This is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes.” Obama said, “the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president.”

Big Pharma will be exempt from COVID-19 Vaccine Liability Claims?

Last week we warned readers to be cautious about new COVID-19 vaccines, highlighting how key parts of the clinical trials are being skipped as big pharma will not be held accountable for adverse side effects for administering the experimental drugs.

A senior executive from AstraZeneca, Britain's second-largest drugmaker, told Reuters that his company was just granted protection from all legal action if the company's vaccine led to damaging side effects.

"This is a unique situation where we as a company simply cannot take the risk if in ... four years the vaccine is showing side effects," said Ruud Dobber, a top exec at AstraZeneca.

"In the contracts we have in place, we are asking for indemnification. For most countries, it is acceptable to take that risk on their shoulders because it is in their national interest," said Dobber, adding that Astra and regulators were making safety and tolerability a top priority.

AstraZeneca is one of the 25 pharmaceutical companies across the world, testing experimental drugs that could be used to combat the deadly virus. And, of course, if testing yields positive results, AstraZeneca could manufacture hundreds of millions of doses, with no legal recourse if side effects are seen.

European officials told Reuters that product liability was a significant discussion to secure new vaccine drugs from Pfizer, Sanofi, and Johnson & Johnson.

Trump says he will ban TikTok through an Executive Action

Trump made the comments while chatting with reporters on Air Force One during the flight back to Washington from Florida.

"As far as TikTok is concerned we're banning them from the United States," Trump said, calling the action a "severance."

Trump did not specify whether he will act through an executive order, or another method. such as a designation, according to NBC News.

"Well, I have that authority. I can do it with an executive order or that," Trump said.

A TikTok spokesperson told NBC News that the app helped to create jobs across the U.S. and was committed to user privacy.

Democrats Urging Biden Not To Debate Trump

Democrats around the country have begun to pressure the Biden campaign to call off all debates with Donald Trump due to the coronavirus pandemic, they say.

In truth, the reason they don’t want Biden to debate Trump is that they don’t think Trump will play by their rules. The president would take over the debate and make it about what he wants, not what Biden wants.

Democrats are also worried about Biden’s mental stamina and his ability to remain engaged for an hour and a half during a debate.

Newsweek:

Democratic strategists and supporters of Vice President Joe Biden are urging him not to debate President Donald Trump in the lead-up to Election Day, citing Trump’s publicity stunts and disregard for the rules in 2016. Meanwhile Biden backers, including some conservatives, applauded the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan for cancelling their scheduled debates over COVID-19 concerns.

Former White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart joined several Democratic Party strategists in bluntly advising Biden, “whatever you do, don’t debate Trump.” Speaking on CNN Saturday, Lockhart said Trump shouldn’t be given another platform which will enable him to “repeat lies,” which he said occurred in the 2016 debates against Hillary Clinton.

Trump has a knack for exaggeration and hyperbole that Democrats don’t like. It’s very effective in debates and Biden would spend most of his time on the defensive.

CNN political analyst @joelockhart tells @smerconish that Joe Biden shouldn’t debate President Trump.

Trump “will take the truth and destroy it, and Biden will be in the position of correcting him over and over and over again. I don't think he should give him that platform.” pic.twitter.com/4EOR4Q9Um7— CNN (@CNN) August 1, 2020

Ratings Crash for NBA, MLB after Protest-Filled Debuts

As the NBA and MLB return from their coronavirus-imposed hiatus, it appears TV viewers are not interested in what the increasingly woke leagues have to offer.

With both baseball and basketball draped in all sorts of Black Lives Matter and social justice symbolism for their opening games, a substantially smaller number of fans tuned-in to the rest of the week’s games.

According to Outkick.com, neither league did well.

As for the opening games, Outkick reported that the return of the NBA on TNT saw the following numbers:

Lakers-Clippers: 3.4 million
Pelicans-Jazz: 2.1 million

ESPN’s MLB return numbers were also underwhelming:

Yankees-Nationals: 4.0 million
Dodgers-Giants: 2.8 million

Outkick’s Ryan Glasspiegel added more ratings numbers on Twitter.

College Expels Student For "Racist" Social Media Post, Then Discovers What Actually Happened

A student at Georgia’s Wesleyan College was reinstated after initially being expelled for social media posts that the school says it now realizes she did not make.

After an investigation and appeal from the student at the all-female campus, the school found that “new information” revealed that the expelled student was not involved in the posts in question.

On June 4, the student, who is remaining nameless, was expelled from the school for allegedly putting out a social media post that contained the n-word. The post was put out by an account claiming to be a student at Wesleyan. The same account also made a Halloween-related post featuring a woman in a green “Border Patrol” shirt posing as if she were arresting a man in a sombrero and serape. The photo was captioned “border?...secured. found him, met him & and just had to get a pic."

According to Wesleyan College Alumnae Board of Managers member Jan Lawrence, the board was told that the student provided information proving that a high school photo of the student had been downloaded and reposted by a third party who included the caption.

“On the morning we learned of the information, we launched an investigation and expelled the student that afternoon, giving her the right to appeal as provided in our policies,” college president Vivia Fowler said in an Instagram post.

The student did appeal, and was reinstated after the university found that “the student did not post the racist content.”

“On July 10, the Wesleyan Student-Faculty Judicial Board, comprised of two faculty members, two staff members and two members of student government, ruled in the student’s favor, overturning the expulsion effective immediately," Fowler said.

“The committee considered new information that we learned in the weeks following the student’s expulsion, which called into question the accuracy of the original information. This information shows that the student did not post the racist content in early June while enrolled at Wesleyan.”

A version of the statement posted by the Wesleyan College Alumnae Association includes a paragraph lamenting the fact that the process for the investigation was not carried out in a more equitable manner:

‘What A Fraud This Guy Is’: Tucker Carlson Criticizes Dr. Fauci For Dodging Jim Jordan’s Questions About Protests

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called Dr. Anthony Fauci a “fraud” during Friday night’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” after the White House coronavirus task member dodged a series of questions from Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan.

Jordan grilled Fauci during a heated House subcommittee hearing exchange Friday on whether ongoing protests and demonstrations sparked by the death of George Floyd should be treated the same as churches in some states and banned to curb the spread of coronavirus.

After playing a clip of the exchange, Carlson compared Fauci’s unwillingness to weigh in on protests to a clip of the doctor urging governments to “be as forceful as possible” in getting people to wear masks.

The cost of becoming a US Citizen just went up drastically. And asylum is no longer free

The Trump administration announced on Friday an exorbitant increase in fees for some of the most common immigration procedures, including an 81% increase in the cost of U.S. citizenship for naturalization. It will also now charge asylum-seekers, which is an unprecedented move.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published on Friday a final rule in the Federal Register that details the new cost for dozens of immigration and naturalization applications, a further change in immigration policy to curb legal immigration of low-income foreign nationals.

The fees’ adjustment “to ensure U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recovers its costs of services,” they agency said in a press release, includes a $50 fee in the Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal. That will make the United States one of only four countries around the world that charge a fee for humanitarian protection.

Montgomery County, MD, Orders Private and Religious Schools to Remain Closed

The health officer of Montgomery County, Maryland, ordered nonpublic schools, including “private pay schools” and “schools affiliated with religious institutions,” to remain closed for in-school instruction through October 1.

“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have based our decisions on science and data,” said Dr. Travis Gayles in a press statement Friday, and he added:

At this point the data does not suggest that in-person instruction is safe for students or teachers. We have seen increases in transmission rates for COVID-19 in the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, particularly in younger age groups, and this step is necessary to protect the health and safety of Montgomery County residents.

The order is effective Monday, August 3.

Cover-Up Continues: Revisiting The Incident At Benghazi

Chris Stevens was an ambitious US State Department employee who volunteered to participate in the overthrow of the Libyan government in 2011.

He covertly arrived in Libya in early 2011 aboard a Greek cargo ship with CIA personnel and set up operations in Benghazi tocoordinate illegal shipments of weaponry into Libya and organized attacks on the Libyan army.

After Africa’s most prosperous nation was in ruins, Stevens became the US Ambassador to Libya in Tripoli and was given a new mission of shipping tons of arms to Syria to destroy that nation.

He traveled to Benghazi in September 2012 to check on progress and was attacked. Stevens was captured, beaten, and killed.

The Obama administration hid these facts and proclaimed Chris Stevens an American hero who had traveled to Benghazi to mediate peace among warring factions when he was killed by terrorists.

Watch how the covert op turned disastrous & into a continuing cover-up:

MEMA Calls for Continued Vigilance and Preparedness as Isaias Impacts Maryland Early This Week

Prepare for Possible Power Outages, Include COVID-19 in Plans, andKnow Your Zone

REISTERSTOWN, Md. — The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and affiliated state agencies are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias as it heads toward Maryland. Even though the storm is currently not a hurricane, Marylanders should be prepared for potential flooding, tidal surge in low lying areas, and tropical storm force winds (greater than 39 miles per hour).

“Please don’t let your guard down just because Isaias is no longer a hurricane,” said Russ Strickland, MEMA's Executive Director. “Be prepared for potential power outages, flash floods and tidal flooding. This is still a dangerous system.”

At this time, it appears the lower Eastern Shore and Southern Maryland will be the hardest hit areas, with the heavily populated central region also expected to be affected. However, a slight shift westward of the storm track could bring heavy rain to parts of western Maryland. Regardless of location, most Marylanders can expect to feel some effects from Isaias.

MEMA also reminds Maryland residents to make sure emergency kits include at least 2 face coverings for each person, hand sanitizer, disinfectants, and other COVID-19 related supplies in addition to the usual disaster supply kit components.

During the COVID-19 pandemic it’s more important than ever to pay attention to the hazards of hurricane season. As a Marylander or as a visitor to Maryland, you should Know Your Zone to see if the places you live, work, or visit are in one of Maryland’s three evacuation zones. The Know Your Zone program allows local emergency officials to order evacuations by letter zones (A, B and C). To learn more about Know Your Zone or to see if you might be in an evacuation zone, please click here.

Remember that even if you are not in one of the Maryland evacuation zones, you could still feel the effects of hurricanes and other hazards. Hurricanes can spawn flash floods, severe thunderstorms, and tornadoes many miles away form the eye of the storm and 100 miles or more inland.

Here are some additional considerations while planning for hurricanes and other hazards during the COVID-19 pandemic:

Identity Politics Divides America

America’s founding creed is “e pluribus unum.” “Out of many, one.” That is the motto that appears on the seal of the House of Representatives. The greatness of America comes from the melting of many cultures and ethnic backgrounds into one American family.

Neither Congress, nor this nation, can function when it is divided along demographic lines. But that’s exactly what a dangerously large group of individuals in the modern Democrat Party are now intent on doing.

To make matters worse, these same individuals falsely smear Republicans with vile labels like racist and sexist during honest policy debates, while excusing blatant racist acts on their own side.

For example, it was discovered last year that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam literally wore either blackface or a Ku Klux Klan hood—he couldn’t decide which. But he was let off the hook, and he still has his job.

63% of US Counties Still Have 5 or Fewer COVID-19 Deaths

As Heritage Foundation researchers have demonstrated throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the spread of COVID-19 in the U.S. has been heavily concentrated in a small number of states—and among a small number of counties within states.

Even though the U.S. has seen a rapid rise in cases during the past month, the overall levels of concentration have remained fairly consistent.

As of July 28, for example, just 10 states account for 60% of all U.S. cases and 68% of all deaths (greater than their 50% share of the population).

What’s the best way for America to reopen and return to business? The National Coronavirus Recovery Commission, a project of The Heritage Foundation, assembled America’s top thinkers to figure that out. So far, it has made more than 260 recommendations. Learn more here.

Austin Police, Texas State Troopers Prevent Violence and Arrest Many

Rumors and intel flew around for days leading up to Saturday, August 1. Dozens of activists were being bused into Austin, Texas, from Portland and Seattle to do to this city what they have done to both of those. Rumors suggested they wanted to destroy Austin police headquarters, the Texas state capitol, or both.

Downtown apartment residents received flyers warning them that the outsiders might attempt to gain entry to their buildings to get to the roof.
It should go without saying this activity would put numerous innocent people in harm’s way and constitute egregious violations of private property rights. Antifa and BLM activists have repeatedly demonstrated their disdain for the latter by destroying, defacing, and looting private property. Protesters surrounding cars, assaulting and shooting drivers and other innocents have repeatedly demonstrated their disdain for the former as well.
Protesters also targeted Austin city council member Kathy Tovo with a march on her home because she is the lone member of the council who has not committed to their demand to gut the Austin police budget. Tovo intends to gut it, but not by as much as the protesters demand.

NJ Democrats OK Valuable Work Licenses for Illegal Aliens

New Jersey’s Democratic-run legislature is allowing illegal migrants to take tens of thousands of licensed and professional jobs from Americans.

The state’s Democratic governor, Phil Murphy, is expected to sign a bill passed in July by the House and Senate that allows illegal aliens to get occupational and professional licenses, according to a July 30 report by NorthJersey.com:

“Governor Murphy believes that immigrants are a critical part of the fabric of life in New Jersey, and that they should not face unnecessary barriers as they seek to participate in our society and economy,” Alyana Alfaro, a Murphy spokeswoman, said prior to the Assembly vote.

The short bill removes the existing state rules against illegal migrants getting state occupational licenses for white-collar jobs such as architects and blue-collar jobs such as electricians. “Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, rule, or regulation, lawful presence in the United States shall not be required to obtain a professional or occupational license, provided that the applicant meets all other requirements for licensure,”says Senate bill No. 2455.

Dan Bongino Warns ‘Biden’s Cognitive Decline Is Rapidly Worsening’

Conservative pundit and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino declared Sunday morning that former Vice President Joe Biden is suffering a rapid “cognitive decline” — and he suggested that his sources were “close to the situation.”

Biden’s mental acuity has been a frequent theme of discussion, primarily among conservatives — though Democrats have also acknowledged potential problems, on occasion.

In a Facebook post on Sunday morning, Bongino wrote:

Not a joke and not hyperbole – I’m hearing from people close to the situation that Biden’s cognitive decline is rapidly worsening and is becoming increasingly difficult to mask. The Democrats are going to have to make a decision soon.

At the Democratic Party presidential debate in Houston, Texas, last September, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro brought up the issue of Biden’s mental decline on the debate stage: “Are you forgetting what you said two minutes ago?” he said, after Biden claimed he had not said that people would have to “buy in” to his health care plan (Castro was correct).

'Peaceful Riots'? Journalism Bows to the Woke Mob

Just a few weeks ago the idea of “peaceful riots” would have seemed absurd, but the American media is nothing if not inventive these days.

Earlier this week, ABC News reported, “Protesters in California set fire to a courthouse, damaged a police station and assaulted officers after a peaceful demonstration intensified.” Legal scholar Eugene Volokh wonders how this terminology would work in the real world: “You are being charged with an intensified peaceful demonstration, in the second degree. How do you plead?”

Indeed, the media’s commitment to tempering their descriptions of violent riots sweeping the nation as “mostly peaceful” is relentless—that particular phrase has become a media cliché practically overnight.

Of course, America’s police officers could also be accurately described as “mostly peaceful,” but any journalist who dared to give cops the same generous benefit of the doubt would likely cause a riot in their own newsroom.

Chinese Propaganda Campaign Blames Pandemic on U.S. Army Facility Closed in 1969

Regime officials, propaganda outlets seek to dodge China's role in coronavirus outbreak

Chinese propagandists are casting blame for the coronavirus pandemic on a U.S. military research lab that shuttered its biowarfare division more than 50 years ago.

Chinese diplomats and state-run media outlets have repeatedly spread the conspiracy that the coronavirus originated in Maryland's Fort Detrick research lab, often in response to criticism about the country's response to the pandemic.

"Speaking of the truth, we would like the U.S. government to tell the truth about the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Maryland, to U.S. and the international community," Wang Wenbin, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman, said on July 22.

But President Richard Nixon closed down Fort Detrick's offensive biowarfare division in 1969—50 years before the first coronavirus cases were reported in Wuhan, China. Fort Detrick now focuses on defensive biological research as well as cancer research. U.S. officials have frequently criticized the Chinese government for using the Fort Detrick conspiracy theory—and other unproven allegations—to blame the outbreak on the United States.

"To have somebody … from the Chinese government come out and make a statement like that [is] completely ridiculous and it's irresponsible, and it doesn't get us to where we need to be," said Secretary of Defense Mark Esper in March.

9 dead, 25 wounded in Chicago weekend shootings, including boy who 'was unintended target'

The shootings come as murders rose 139 percent in Chicago in July
A series of shootings over the weekend in Chicago has left nine people dead and 25 wounded, closing out a violent July in which murders there more than doubled compared to the same month last year, reports say.

Tragedy first struck Friday evening when Janari Ricks, a 9-year-old who was playing with a group of friends, died after being hit in the chest by a gunman who walked up and started opening fire, investigators say. Chicago Police Department Chief of Operations Brian McDermott told the Sun-Times newspaper that Ricks “was an unintended target," and now a $4,000 reward is being offered for information about the person who pulled the trigger.

“While our City has made progress in reducing violence in recent weeks, all of that is lost when we lose another child to gun violence,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted following the incident.

SHOTS FIRED: Joe Biden Threatens to Destroy CNN if Elected

Former vice president Joe Biden posted a seemingly innocent Twitter message on Thursday regarding the social media strategy he would pursue if elected president in November.

You won't have to worry about my tweets when I'm president.

— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) July 30, 2020

Reading between the lines, however, Biden's message suggests a sinister plot to bankrupt CNN by destroying the left-wing media network's business model.

For example, an IQ Media search of the phrase "the president just tweeted" yields almost 200 results from CNN programming. Brian Stelter, the host of Reliable Sources, has devoted ample time and resources to spell-checking President Donald Trump's tweets and analyzing the frequency and engagement levels of said tweets.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, CNN's obsession with all things Trump helped the eventual GOP nominee earn more than $2 billion in free media coverage. "CNN helped make [Trump] by carrying every speech he made in the primary season," said former CNN anchor Larry King. "It was almost like the other guys didn't exist."

Joe Biden's central campaign message in 2020—"I'm not Donald Trump"—is an existential threat to CNN. Stelter and other opinion journalists are especially vulnerable. What will become of thenewspaper columnists who earn six-figure salaries writing weekly screeds about why the thing Trump said or did is bad or dangerous or evil or a threat to democracy?

AOC and Her IQ of 12 Are Redefining Stupid Again

AOC Is Dumber Than Dumb
Happy Sixth Month of March 2020, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing readers.
She’s baaaaaaaaack.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has been taking a break from being the Progressive Princess of Stupidity lately but we all knew that she would be back at some point. It is almost impressive how awfully ignorant AOC can be at times, as if she is constantly trying to embarrass herself.
Her most recent foray into brain-dead finds her criticizing Roman Catholic St. Damien of Molokai for being a “colonizer.” Rick has the full story here:
Most missionaries avoided administering to lepers for fear of contracting the disease themselves. But Father Damien didn’t listen. Eventually, he also became a leper and died at age 49 of the disease.
Damien did more than pray for the lepers. He helped initiate reforms of how native people were treated. He also “aided the colony by teaching, painting houses, organizing farms, organizing the construction of chapels, roads, hospitals, and churches. He also personally dressed residents, dug graves, built coffins, ate food by hand with lepers, shared pipes with them, and lived with the lepers as equals.”
Damien’s “colonizing” involved ministering to people who were so loathed by society that they were ostracized and sent to live in remote places in colonies where they were to fall apart and die.
What an awful guy.
It’s not just that AOC is wrong about so many things, it’s that she’s always spectacularly wrong. Her hot-takes sound more like the ravings of a toddler than what one would expect from a member of Congress. In this particular case, it seems that she knew nothing more about St. Damien than that he was white. AOC is the one millennial who has never heard of Google or Wikipedia.

Governor Hogan Issues Emergency Order to Prohibit Blanket School Closures

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today issued an amended emergency order ensuring that local schools and school systems retain the primary authority to initially determine when to safely reopen their facilities for in-person instruction based on public health guidance. Read the governor’s order.

Under an order issued April 5, local health departments continue to have the authority to close any individual facility deemed to be unsafe.

After signing the amended order, Governor Hogan issued the following statement:

“The recovery plan for Maryland public schools stresses local flexibility within the parameters set by state officials. Over the last several weeks, school boards and superintendents made their own decisions about how and when to reopen public schools, after consultation with state and local health officials.

“Private and parochial schools deserve the same opportunity and flexibility to make reopening decisions based on public health guidelines. The blanket closure mandate imposed by Montgomery County was overly broad and inconsistent with the powers intended to be delegated to the county health officer.

“To be clear, Maryland’s recovery continues to be based on a flexible, community-based approach that follows science, not politics. As long as schools develop safe and detailed plans that follow CDC and state guidelines, they should be empowered to do what’s best for their community.

“I want to thank all the parents, students, and school administrators who have spoken out in recent days about this important issue.”

At 11 a.m., the center of Isaias will pass well east of the Georgia coast through this afternoon. George Soros Steps In, Drops Six-Figure Check to Rescue Corrupt St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner in Her Primary Race

Far left billionaire George Soros has been systematically targeting district attorney races throughout the United States for several years now. Many of his candidates are already in office creating havoc across the country.

In St. Louis City George Soros was Kim Gardner’s biggest donor in her race for Circuit Attorney back in 2016.

A Soros funded PAC even released an ad in support of this far left and unqualified activist.

Kim Gardner may be the most radical Soros-funded Circuit Attorney in the nation today.

Kim Gardner is so intolerable that two dozen attorneys and more than one-third of the trial lawyers left the prosecuting attorney’s office when she was hired. And this is a Democrat dominated office!

Barack Obama's half-brother rips 'cold and ruthless' ex-president

A “cold and ruthless” President Obama abandoned his Kenyan family in their greatest hours of need, according to a new tell-all by estranged half brother Malik Obama.

“He got rich and became a snob,” Malik, 62, told The Post via Skype from his home in the Kenyan village of Nyang’oma Kogelo. “What I saw was he was the kind of person that wants people to worship him. He needs to be worshiped and I don’t do that. I am his older brother so I don’t do that.”

The book, “Big Bad Brother From Kenya,” a self-published memoir which Malik Obama spent 22 years writing, hit Amazon with little fanfare on July 11. In its 435 pages, Malik covers the long and gradual falling out between him and the former President, which culminated in Malik publicly endorsing Donald Trump for president in 2016.

Both Malik and Barack Obama share the same father,

Governor Hogan PURPOSELY Destroying ALL Businesses In The State Of Maryland

I don't care who you are, we have absolutely struggled to no end to rebuild my business. We have experienced so many ups and downs over the past six months, financially and mentally.

Even with all the challenges we have faced we had a RECORD weekend last weekend. We have the best disinfectant money can buy and we have religiously scrubbed down our surfaces and followed every rule and guideline assuring we and our customers are in a very safe and clean environment.

Today Governor Hogan announced the wearing of masks indoors and outdoors. So you have to wear a mask in a pool? When it's 105 degrees outside you have to wear a mask? Finally,

  • Employment Information (Percentage of Interviewed Cases):
    • Health care – 25%
    • Other - Non-public Facing – 23%
    • Other - Public Facing – 13%
    • Restaurant/Food Service – 12%
    You can't be serious!

Bars/restaurants are of the lowest risks. Why, because we're following the rules!

Governor Hogan does NOT want President Trump and those who support him rebuild this economy. He's no Republican, he's a piece of sh!t! RECORD numbers! I've waited over a yeah and a half to hit these kind of numbers and I'm confident other bars/restaurants are experiencing the same. WE THE PEOPLE want to get out. We want to enjoy our lives. Hogan wants us sheltered, depressed, broke and most important he wants us DEPENDENT on the new socialist America.

While I do NOT support these radicals destroying our cities and monuments, something has to give. We need our President to step in and save all of us. When you tie up hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars into a business and one jackass changes the rules on the lowest percentage of risky businesses, something has to give.

What say you now people. I will swing my doors this weekend and we will follow the rules. We will remain open till 2 AM, unlike most other bars closing at 9 and 10 PM. The virus is NOT stronger after 10 PM, duh! We will have a band this weekend and guess what, even though Bike Week is cancelled I will still host Bike Week and we will have bands. If you enjoy frozen drinks, come see Dawn. She makes the best you've ever had!

NFL will reportedly lose $5.5 billion if games are played in empty stadiums

If NFL teams play games without fans in the stands in 2020, the league could lose $5.5 billion, according Forbes’ Mike Ozanian.

That figure is based on stadium revenue from the 2018 season, according to Forbes.

The NFL would lose $5.5 billion of stadium revenue (the sum of tickets, concessions, sponsors, parking and team stores) — or 38% of its total revenue — based on figures for the 2018 season (ranking below). But the impact on the individual teams would vary greatly. For example, the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots would lose over half their total revenue while the Buffalo Bills, the Tennessee Titans and the Cincinnati Bengals would lose less than one-third.

Hogan: Trump Wasted Months ‘Downplaying the Virus’

Monday on CNN, Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) said President Donald Trump wasted the early months of the coronavirus pandemic not taking it seriously.

Hogan said, “I’ve been really proud of the governors on both sides of the aisle for really stepping up and taking this pandemic seriously. I talk about that in the book. And I’m not just out trying to criticize the president, but I talk about the early stages of the pandemic when he wasn’t taking it seriously enough.?”

NFL End Zones Will Read “End Racism” and “It Takes All of Us” in Home Openers — Along with Black National Anthem

Washington when the civil rights leader visited his school. His brother later set the words to music, resulting in what became known as the ‘Negro National Anthem’.

The NFL will play that along with the US National Anthem at games.

But the NFL will go even further.
The league will also paint “end racism” and “it takes all of us” in the end zones.

Stop Fracked Gas Pipeline on Maryland Eastern Shore

The Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company (ESNG) wants to build 19+ miles of new pipeline to carry fracked gas from Delaware through Maryland. The pipeline is already under construction in Delaware to carry gas from that state into Maryland. The seven miles of pipeline proposed for Maryland would supply concentrated animal feeding operations, businesses, and residential areas. The two “anchor” customers for gas delivery are the Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Somerset County. If built, the Del-Mar pipeline would trigger another pipeline to connect the prison to the university. The public has been consistently left in the dark by the Hogan Administration when it comes to these dangerous projects. But we do know that these pipelines would cross farms, forests, and countless waterways that feed into the Chesapeake Bay. They would also worsen global warming, bringing more sea-level rise to the already vulnerable tidal regions of the Eastern Shore.

Somerset County officials are advocating that the pipeline be built, citing badly needed economic development. However, they appear to have not considered renewable energy options. The cost to taxpayers for the pipeline will be approximately $500 million, and the project will hamper our state goals to be utilizing 50% renewable energy by 2030. At a time when the Maryland state budget is so tight, it is perplexing why Gov. Hogan would not want to pursue less expensive energy alternatives. In addition, it is disturbing that although Marylanders have made it clear that they want to pursue cleaner, renewable energy by passing the Clean Energy Jobs Act in 2019, Gov. Hogan is still relying on fossil fuels.

Rutgers University Declares Grammar 'Racist'

If you’re looking for peak idiocy from academic institutions that are falling all over themselves to kowtow to the mob’s notions of “social justice,” look no further.
The English Department at Rutgers University has declared that proper use of grammar is a hidden form of racism because it disadvantages students of “multilingual, non-standard ‘academic’ English backgrounds.”
Grammar is rather boring, so the department is going to sex it up with all sorts of fascinating additions.
The “critical grammar” approach challenges the standard academic form of the English language in favor of a more inclusive writing experience. The curriculum puts an emphasis on the variability of the English language instead of accuracy.
“This approach challenges the familiar dogma that writing instruction should limit emphasis on grammar/sentence-level issues so as to not put students from multilingual, non-standard ‘academic’ English backgrounds at a disadvantage,” Walkowitz said. “Instead, it encourages students to develop a critical awareness of the variety of choices available to them [with] regard to micro-level issues in order to empower them and equip them to push against biases based on ‘written’ accents.”
“Variability instead of accuracy” means incorrect usage of grammatical norms. It’s nice that someone speaks a foreign language, but isn’t the whole point of teaching proper grammar teaching foreigners the proper way to speak English?

A Viewer Writes: Salisbury Police Dept, double standards

Hi Joe,

This angers me with Salisbury Police Department.

Earlier this year, my son was traveling to work. His first week on his first "real" job. His beater car a Celica 1996 broke down (6:30 AM) on Riverside Dr just past Collage Ave as you are heading into town.

He called me and I picked him up to get another vehicle to take him to work.

I get a call from Salisbury P. D.within an hour. They advised me that I need to remove this car right now or it will be towed.

My son was at his new job and I was in the middle of doing my my job, so I could not take my car trailer to pick it up until 2 hours later.

Salisbury P. D. mind you, they were courteous, said that it must be towed IMMEDIATELY.

There was nothing I could do, so they had it towed at a $165 expense to me.

Last night, while traveling on Riverside Dr., we saw a disabled vehicle in the exact same location, exact same direction of travel, exact same side of the road as where my son's car broke down.

My son called Salisbury P.D. to inform them of a vehicle broke down and to advise them as per "their policy" that they wanted to remove disabled vehicles IMMEDIATELY from Riverside Dr.

They advised my son that they GAVE THIS VEHICLE OWNER 48 HOUR TO REMOVE THEIR VEHICLE.

My question is, with this inconsistency from Salisbury P. D. where do I go to get back my $165 tow expense that I could have taken care of within 2 hours not 48 hour?

Every Player Took A Knee During Thursday's NBA Game

Professional sports were put on hold earlier this year as the Wuhan coronavirus made its way over from China. The silver lining of it all was that at least patriotic Americans wouldn't have to suffer through millionaire athletes disrespecting the country that made their decadent lifestyles possible by kneeling every time the national anthem came on. Well, that silver lining has ended as professional sports are now returning and more ungrateful players than ever are taking a knee in order to show their disdain for the country.

The first game of the NBA returned on Thursday in a matchup between the Utah Jazz and the New Orleans Pelicans. Every player, coach, and even the referee took a knee as the national anthem began to play. The players wore shirts with the words "Black Lives Matter" emblazoned on the front.

Police called after 300 teenagers destroy family fun center over faulty machines

Golf and Games Family Park in Memphis was forced to change its guest policy

A Tennessee mini-golf center was the scene of mayhem on Saturday, after a reported 300 to 400 teenagers began destroying the establishment because management reportedly refused to issue refunds for machines that stopped working.

According to local outlets, parents had dropped off large groups of teens at the family play place without supervision, violating coronavirus orders banning mass gatherings.

Issues began at Golf and Games Family Park in Memphis, Tenn., Saturday evening when some machines began swallowing money. The staff at the center was unable to offer refunds at the time, thus prompting all-out chaos, FOX 8 reported.

WNBA Players Walk Off The Court During National Anthem

The WNBA’s season began Saturday with players from the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty walking off the court as the national anthem played, in a message for racial justice as protests around the country continue. The players jointly then dedicated 26 seconds of silence and the entire season to Breonna Taylor.

“We are dedicating this season to Breonna Taylor — an outstanding EMT who was murdered over 130 days ago in her home,” Layshia Clarendon, a player for New York Liberty said before the game began. Taylor was shot and killed by Louisville Metro police after they entered her Kentucky home in March.

Clarendon also said the season would be dedicated to the “Say Her Name Campaign — a campaign committed to saying the names and fighting for justice for Black women” who are “so often forgotten in this fight for justice.”

HUGE! Trump White House Implements Executive Order on Online Censorship: Prevents Tech Giants from Altering Users’ Free Speech – Demands Transparency of Moderation Practices

This Is Big!

On Wednesday Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Google’s Sundar Pichai and Apple’s Tim Cook testified before Congress in the House Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust.

Since 2016 and the election of Donald Trump the tech giants have been censoring and banning conservative voices online. The Gateway Pundit has been a huge target of these liberal tech giants.

Of course, the CEOs dismissed allegations that they are targeting and censoring conservative users despite ALL of the evidence to the contrary.
