As Rent Moratorium Expires, Landlord-Tenant Battles Begin

Readers may recall the eviction moratorium expired a little more than a week ago nearly four months after the US economy effectively shut down due to the covid pandemic. 33% of renters have yet to make their full payment in July, a recent survey showed. This means that 12 million renters could be on the cusp of eviction in a matter of months.

Landlords are set to lose billions of dollars this year over the inability of tenants to pay rent thanks to the virus-induced recession. With much of chaos and disagreement on Capitol Hill about the next round of stimulus, nevertheless, no deal on a rent moratorium extension, landlords are now demanding back rent and August payment.

While the exact cause of the landlord-tenant dispute turned violent in Georgia Sunday morning has yet to have an underline cause, one can only assume it might have been due to payment.

FOX 5 Atlanta's Kaitlyn Pratt quoted Gwinnett County Police's twitter on early Sunday morning of a dispute between the landlord and tenant.

Pratt tweeted, "LANDLORD-TENANT FIGHT Brings SWAT to a neighborhood. Landlord faces Battery, Obstruction of Justice and Terroristic threats."

To be fair while these upstanding citizens on unemployment have been getting this extra money; why haven't they been paying their rent?!?

Fear not... The govt will bail them out , otherwise the bankers will lose money on their “derivatives”.. Remember them??

2:47, because they are acting like 10 cent millionaires and buying crap they have no business buying then claiming they have no money to pay rent and take care of responsibilities. That is exactly why the stimulus and the extra $600 on top of what unemployment was, is so so wrong. The dumbocrats are leading them down a path of no return and they cannot see the forest for all the trees. Dumb bunch is what I call them. Cannot think for themselves and see what government is doing.

I-phones are priority over bills. Same with Netflix and other streaming services. Carryout too. No one in the next gen Majority goes to the grocery store or are cost conscious anymore. Not with free money that WE all are playing. Ugh.

Yes they will over value their services if any and the value of the dollar will tank. Then the global bank will swoop in to rescue the FED. The final piece of the puzzle that is global servitude will be complete.

Because they think they don't have too because they won't be evicted. If they extend that, we are all screwed. Who would pay rent knowing they can't get evicted. They will live free and just move to a new place later. They are in OC on the boardwalk. I've never scene such trash in my entire life.

Social security disability is what 8s destroying Social security program. I believe there are too many people on Social security Disability that belong there. Just like section 8 housing. Pay very little rent and drive a Mercedes. Slum lords are at fault here too by looking the other way.
