Obama Wants to Ease Way for Debt Collectors to Call Cellphones

WASHINGTON -- To the dismay of consumer groups and the discomfort of Democrats, President Obama wants Congress to make it easier for private debt collectors to call the cellphones of consumers delinquent on student loans and other billions owed the federal government.

The change "is expected to provide substantial increases in collections, particularly as an increasing share of households no longer have landlines and rely instead on cellphones," the administration wrote recently. The little-noticed recommendation would apply only to cases in which money is owed the government, and is tucked into the mammoth $3 trillion deficit-reduction plan the president submitted to Congress.

Amber Alert: Kansas City Infant Believed to Have Been Abducted from Crib

Kansas City Police have issued an Amber Alert for Lisa Irwin, a missing 10-month-old infant they believe may have been abducted from her crib late last night in Missouri. The FBI has joined the Kansas City Police in the investigation.

Lisa's mother put her down to sleep at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday night, according to police. When Lisa's father arrived home from work at around 4 a.m., he went into her room to check on her and discovered she was missing. The parents immediately called police.

Van Jones Urges Progressives to 'Steal' Tea Party Strategy

Making no secret of his disdain for Tea Party ideals and ideas, ex-White House adviser Van Jones on Monday nonetheless urged liberal activists to "steal" the Tea Party's playbook.

The former "green jobs" adviser, speaking at the top of a three-day conference in the nation's capital designed to galvanize liberal activists, spoke interchangeably in harsh and glowing terms about the Tea Party movement. He described their cause as "the worst" and "silly" and other unflattering adjectives. At the same time, he said progressives can learn from what the Tea Party has accomplished, as he tried to steer the crowd toward his own umbrella group which he's been working on since the summer.

Study supporting gay conversion challenged

A study designed by professors from two religious universities says that some people can change their sexual orientation after undergoing years of a ministry program.

“Evidence from the study suggested that change of homosexual orientation appears possible for some and that psychological distress did not increase on average as a result of the involvement in the change process,” wrote the authors of a study published in The Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy.

Salisbury Police Department Press Release 10-4-11

On October 2, 2011 at approximately 2:14 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the parking lot area of the Salisbury Marina on West Main Street for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival the officers were unable to locate a victim or evidence of gun fire. Approximately twelve (12) minutes later the officers were advised that the gunshot victim had been transported to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center by a friend and was in the Emergency Room. The officers responded to that location and met with the victim, 28 year old Ali Antonio Bradley of Salisbury. The victim had sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper left leg and was in serious condition. The victim advised that he had driven to the Brew River Restaurant parking lot and had parked his vehicle near the Salisbury Marina Office. The victim remained in his vehicle and was talking to a friend when he was approached by a single suspect. The suspect produced a handgun and fired several shots, one of which struck the victim. A second shot struck the victim’s vehicle. There were no further injuries. The suspect then fled from the area on foot. Friends of the victim utilized his vehicle and transported him to the medical center.

The suspect was described as:
Black male, approximately 5’3" to 5’6" in height,medium build, cornrow type hair and wearing dark
clothing.

On October 1, 2011 at approximately 5:23 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the seven hundred (700) block of Camden Avenue for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival the officers made contact with an adult female victim who advised that a subject known to her had assaulted her and two (2) other subjects in the residence. One of the victims was a seventy-one (71) year old female.

The victim advised that the suspect had been staying in the residence and had earlier been involved in a domestic assault of the victim’s niece. A short time later the suspect attacked the seventy-one year old female with a kitchen knife without provocation. The victim sustained severe cutting injuries to her face, right hand, left hand and right arm. The suspect then fled from the residence in the victim’s vehicle. Salisbury officers obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and broadcast a description of the suspect and vehicle. On the same date at approximately 12:13 pm, Officers located the suspect operating the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Gordy Road and Windsor Drive. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim was treated and released.

While many of you are thinking this is just the greatest thing to hit the Eastern Shore, many others are quite pissed off for multiple reasons and they're good reasons.

Lowe's told Extreme Home Makeover, piss off. And rightfully so! This group of yahoo's come into town demanding breaks on just about anything and everything and when they confronted Lowe's they said, why the hell should we do ANYTHING for you when you'll get on your show and thank Sears and partner with Sears. They are 100% correct.

They want FREE materials, FREE labor, Free impact fees, FREE 24 hour police security, FREE inspections, yet builders have to wait weeks, if not months just to get some of these services they're paying dearly for.

Tens of thousands of dollars are being gifted from the County and guess what will happen in the end Folks. Well, for starters this family is going from a 900 sq. ft. home to a new 2,700 sq. ft. home. That means their taxes will increase not just a little, it will increase a LOT. Are YOU going to pay the difference, (perhaps three times) when this family can no longer afford it. There's also the potential of neighboring property values going up, especially when and if this home is ever sold.

Who's going to pay their heating and air conditioning bills? Hot water bills, gas and electric, homeowners insurance and the rest of these nice feel good goodies?

Now they're asking for someone to donate a Goat Fence. Why do you think these professionals come into town pulling together local cancer survivors, boxing hero's and whomever else they can get to get behind their so GIVING proposition.

They hold these pep rallies to get everyone behind their quest and IGNORE the future realities before they're long gone. Here's another question I'd like answered. If anyone deserved a new home, (IMHO) why not Sarah Foxwell's siblings and the Aunt raising them. Mind you, perhaps they never asked but if there was ever a family that could use a great break like this, I'd think they would be better recipients.

Anyhow, there are a LOT of people quite upset over this entire thing. Mind you, I think the kid involved in this is one of the most spectacular young people I've ever seen, he truly is. However, you really have to know the background of what this ABC Show is doing to people. It may sound really cool, (and it is) but there's a whole lot more to this milti-million dollar money making show than meets the eye at first glance.

Yeah, you can come after me and attack me because I'm not a supporter of this whole thing. I have my reasons and not one of them is spite. Just remember, (all of you) NOTHING IS FREE! There's a reason you can't get anywhere near this project unless you're bused in.

To ALL of you volunteering and donating, God Bless you. Your heart is in the right place and I truly respect that. I'm simply asking you to look deeper into this, (as many callers have expressed to me today) and hopefully understand this is NOT what many of you think it is. 4 Nabbed In Government Bribery Investigation

Four people, including two employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, have been arrested in a bribery and kickback scheme.

Maryland chicken farms produce a substantial amount of phosphorous-rich chicken manure, which contributes to pollution in the Chesapeake Bay. One solution to the problem: Turn the poop into power.

Drunken Students Who Post Facebook Photos Could Be at Risk, Study Says

College students who post the details of their drunken nights on Facebook can end up with a few problems on their hands – embarrassment, regret or explanations to mom and dad. But a new study from researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison suggests those Facebook postings may also signal that a student is at clinical risk of having a drinking problem.

Dr. Megan Moreno, the study's lead author and a pediatrician, said she often talks with teenage patients and parents who are worried about college students they know who post status updates on Facebook about drinking.

Mitt Romney is Going Nowhere Fast – And That’s Fine

Candidates come and go, but Mitt Romney stays … at 25 percent. The good news for Romney in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll is that he is back on top of the Republican field, earning the support of 25 percent of leaned Republicans. The bad news for Romney is that is smack dab where he was one month ago … at 25 percent. He doesn’t budge. Texas Governor Rick Perry lost 13 percent from his September numbers and now stands in a second place tie with Herman Cain, who jumped 12 percent.

One way to read Perry dropping 13 percent and Romney not moving at all is that some Republican voters might have decided they don’t like Perry, but those voters didn’t exactly flock to Romney.

Sinepuxent Receipts – Angel Pound Cake

ANGEL POUND CAKE

1 cup butter, softened

½ cup shortening

3 cups sugar

5 eggs

3 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon lemon

Cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed. Add eggs one at a time, beating after addition.

Combine flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix until just blended after each addition. Stir in flavorings.

Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch, I used a bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes and let cool on a wire rack. ( I find with my oven it doesn’t take as long. Usually a little over an hour does it.

A Sad But Common Story

Yesterday we were standing outside talking when a couple from Northern Virginia came up to us in front of my building in Downtown Salisbury and said, where's the Downtown shopping?

I pointed up the Plaza and they said, we know, we already walked through that are, is that all there is?

Unfortunately, people are somehow being driven to come to Downtown Salisbury, (being an All American City) but when they arrive, there's nothing here but empty buildings and false hope.

Now that Urban Salisbury is gone, the Mayor and City Council need to STOP talking the talk and WALK THE WALK!

Shanie Shields stated in the last Council Meeting that something has to be done about the Downtown Plaza. I almost jumped out of my seat wanting to confront the Council and say, OK, what the hell are YOU suggesting.

It seems, (to me anyway) that everyone wants to point fingers at everyone else, yet NO ONE wants to take responsibility for making it happen. That goes for the former administration as well.

Ann Taylor has her Parker Place property up for sale and quite frankly it has to be one of the best buys I've seen in the Downtown area. While there have been numerous bites and interest, no one has stepped up to the plate with vision.

I purchased 300 W. Main Street with the full intention of remodeling the building, (which I have done) and make a solid investment into an area in which I'm confident will eventually thrive. However, I, (alone) cannot turn things around. I personally know there's someone VERY interested in the old Feldman's building, someone with vision.

I personally believe if enough people come together with creative ideas we can ALL make the re-birth of Downtown Salisbury a reality. We need young ideas and old. We need to listen to what SU Students would like to see and let them be a part of this project.

There are so many beautiful buildings Downtown, many of which can be easily converted into wonderful shops and living space. Bring on the ideas Folks. Let's pull together and make Salisbury a place we can all be proud of. I look forward to your input and ideas.

Christie Will Not Run For President

Chris Christie will announce that he will not run for president at a press conference Tuesday afternoon, sources told NBC News.

Christie is set to make an announcement at a 1 p.m. EST press conference outside of his official governor's office in the New Jersey state capitol, just a few hours after initially announcing the press conference on Tuesday morning. NBC News' Jamie Gangel confirmed that the governor would declare that he is not running.

Anne Arundel Laments The Loss Of State Workers

A reshuffling of state office space will move nearly 400 workers from around the state capital to Baltimore andPrince George's County — a shift that Gov. Martin O'Malley's administration hopes will spur development around the new offices and make their operations more efficient.

But some Anne Arundel County officials are criticizing the moves as politically motivated, saying that state officials didn't consider the impact on the local economy.

O'Malley, a Democrat, plans to relocate the Department of Housing and Community Development — and about 330 workers — from Crownsville to a new building in Prince George's County as part of a development strategy to cluster commuters around transit hubs. The state has agreed tentatively to a $48 million, 15-year lease at the new property.

Md. To Issue Fines For Posting Signs On Roadways

WASHINGTON -- Got something to say? Be careful where and how you say it, or it could cost you.
 
You can still express yourself, just don't do it by planting a sign along the roadway in Maryland.
 
A new law targets those signs that pop up like weeds along roads and in median strips. The ones that advertise everything from a "miracle weight loss" product to local dating sites. Starting in January, anyone who posts a roadway sign will be fined $25 per sign.

Delayed Trade Agreements Sent to Congress

(WASHINGTON) — The White House sent three long-delayed trade agreements to Congress Monday, putting the deals with South Korea, Colombia and Panama on a path toward final passage after years in political limbo.

In a statement, President Barack Obama said the deals would make it easier for U.S. companies to sell their products overseas, and he called on Congress to approve the agreements without delay.

"These agreements will support tens of thousands of jobs across the country for workers making products stamped with three proud words: Made in America," he said.

Md. To Keep Monitoring Cancers Near Fort Detrick

FREDERICK, Md. - Maryland's public health agency says a nearly 18-month cancer investigation has produced enough statistically significant results to warrant continued monitoring in neighborhoods around Fort Detrick in Frederick.

A Department of Health and Mental Hygiene official said at a public meeting Monday that the incidence of lymphomas within a mile of the Army installation from 1992 to 2008 was 25 percent higher than in the state as a whole.

But Dr. Clifford Mitchell says there was no statistically significant difference between the Fort Detrick area and the rest of Frederick County.

How Big Is The Long-Term Debt Problem?

Articles about the deficits and the national debt generally talk about unsustainable long-term deficits that will drive the national debt up to a level where scary things happen. Sensible commentators usually acknowledge that our current deficits are a sideshow and the real problems happen in the 2020s and 2030s due to modestly increasing Social Security outlays and rapidly increasing health care spending. I admit that this has generally been my line as well; for example, in a previous post I said that the ten-year deficit problem is entirely a product of extending the Bush tax cuts, but that even if we let them expire things will get worse over the next two decades.

But looking at the numbers, it’s not clear that the long-term picture is really that bad. Here I’ll lay out the numbers, and then, as they say on Fox News, you can decide. The summary is the chart above; the details are below.

The most common source for long-term national debt scare stories is the CBO’s 2011 Long-Term Budget Outlook (LTBO), published in June. That report has two scenarios. In the extended-baseline scenario, which is pretty close to current law, the national debt reaches 76% of GDP in 2021 and 84% in 2035 (Table 1-2, p. 8)—bad, but not that bad. BREAKING NEWS: Stocks Off To Another Weak Start, Dow Down 165

On the heels of two sessions of significant weakness, stocks are selling off at the open. The financial sector is again leading the way down, with Morgan Stanley off nearly 6% on word it may raise $5 billion in a Japanese bond sale. S&P also said it sees a greater chance of recession in Europe. The Dow is off 165 points at 10489, and the yield on the 10-year Treasury is down to 1.74%.

Opinions Differ On Color For Md. State House Dome

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The State House dome, which is getting a new paint job, is a near-sacred place for people who appreciate its historical significance. And because people care so deeply, there is a vigorous debate going on over what color it should be.

One group wants to keep the dome white, as it has been for about the past 180 years; the other thinks the eight-sided structure should be yellow, as it may have been during its first few decades.

To muddy the palette, there are no detailed documents that tell how the dome was originally painted.

Because of its historical significance, the dome and its color must be taken seriously, State Archivist Dr. Edward Papenfuse said.

Bill Clinton Is Baaaaaaaaack!

The New York Times reported last week that former President Bill Clinton is working on a new book on economic policy to be released in time for next year's election. This is unfortunate, since Clinton stands alongside Alan Greenspan as one of the last people who should be giving the country and the world advice on economic policy.

Many people look back with fondness on Clinton years and there is good cause. The economy grew at an annual rate of almost 4.5 percent during his second term. The unemployment rate fell to a 4.0 percent as a year-round average in 2000. And the country saw strong real wage growth up and down the income ladder for the first time since the early '70s.

HBO's Series 'VEEP' Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus Begins Production In Maryland

State says first season will bring 2,000 jobs and $25 million to area

"VEEP," the HBO political satire starring Julia-Louis-Dreyfus, started production Monday on location in the Baltimore area, Gov. Martin O'Malley and the cable channel said.

The Maryland Film Office estimates that the first season of the series will result in 2,000 jobs for crew members and actors and $25 million in economic impact for the state. The estimate is based on HBO doing five weeks of prep and eight weeks of filming here on the seven episodes yet to be made for season one. The producers will also be purchasing and renting goods or services from hundreds of Maryland businesses, according to the film office.

Fox News Offers Wall Street Protester An Interview but Doesn't Air It After He Slams Fox

As the occupation of Wall Street enters its third week, the New York Observer points out that the notoriously right-wing Fox News has been doing its best to dismiss the protests. Fox has had its producers try to “prank” demonstrators, and the network has aired edited video interview footage to try to mock protesters.

Yet the Observer notes that there was one interview with a protester that Fox failed to air. Last week, a producer from Greta van Susteren’s show interviewed a demonstrator named Jesse LaGreca. LaGreca offered an eloquent defense of the protests and growing economic inequality in the United States, and scolded the Fox staffer for his network’s role as a far-right “propaganda machine.” LaGreca noted Fox’s parent corporation was under investigation by the Department of Justice and that the network was “wasting time” on subjects such as President Obama’s birth certificate and Solyndra.

The Fox producer promised LaGreca he would “put any message you want out there, to give you fair coverage,” yet when the show was aired Wednesday, the footage was nowhere to be found. Watch LaGreca’s interview with Fox:

LONDON, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- An ugly momentum is building in the South China Sea, where an official Chinese newspaper called last week for war against Vietnam and the Philippines to uphold China's assertion of sovereignty over the mineral-rich seabed, estimated to hold 7 billion barrels of oil and 900 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Greek Government Cutting 30,000 State Jobs

Athens - After marathon talks with foreign auditors, the Greek government said Sunday that it had reached a deal on how to slash its unwieldy public sector by putting 30,000 workers on a scheme that would lead to early retirement for some and dismissal for others, in a bid to meet conditions set by foreign lenders for the release of crucial emergency loans.

The government also completed a draft budget for 2012, which is expected to be presented in Parliament on Monday and voted on by the end of October, and conceded that it would miss a deficit-reduction target of 7.6 percent of gross domestic product. The deficit is projected to equal 8.5 percent of G.D.P. this year. The deficit shortfall had been expected because of delays in carrying out reforms and a deeper-than-expected recession, with the Greek economy forecast to contract by 5.5 percent this year.

In comments made late on Sunday after a cabinet meeting, a government spokesman, Ilias Mossialos, said Sunday’s deal was the result of “long and difficult negotiations” with foreign auditors and that it constituted the “gentlest possible scenario in terms of social repercussions.”

Governments’ Attempts to Control The Internet Should Be Resisted

FOR something so central to the modern world, the internet is shambolically governed. It is run by a hotch-potch of organisations with three- to five-letter acronyms. Many of their meetings, both online and offline, are open to the public. Some—like the Internet Governance Forum, which held its annual meeting in Nairobi this week—are just talking shops. Decision-making is slow and often unpredictable.

It is in short a bit chaotic. But sometimes chaos, even one that adherents like to claim somewhat disingenuously is a “multi-stakeholder” approach, is not disastrous: the internet mostly works. And the shambles is a lot better than the alternative—which nearly always in this case means governments bringing the internet under their control.

Iranian Pastor Increasingly Likely to Face Death Penalty Under New Charges

Imprisoned Iranian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, originally sentenced to death for apostasy and refusing to renounce Christianity, is now in even greater danger of being put to death in light of reports in state-run media of other charges, including being a Zionist and a threat to national security.

"The charge of being a Zionist and thus a traitor is among the most serious accusations that can be made in Iran," said Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice, or ACLJ. "Unfortunately, we know that this is the charge Iran levies to justify executing people who were actually arrested, imprisoned and tried on completely different charges."

VICTIMS OF PLANE CRASH NEAR SMITH ISLAND IDENTIFIED - BODY OF DECEASED VICTIM RECOVERED

(RHODES POINT, MD) – US Coast Guard, Maryland Natural Resources Police, and Virginia Marine Police have located and recovered the body of a female believed to be the victim of the small plane crash yesterday in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay off Smith Island.   

The recovered body has not been positively identified, but is tentatively believed to be Mary L. Lagerquist, 78, of Sequim, Washington.  She was deceased when her body was located at about 9:00 a.m. today in the water off the southern point of Smith Island.    

The male victim is identified as Lanson C. Ross, III, 48, of the 400-block of Broad Creek Drive, Ft. Washington, MD.  Ross, the pilot of the plane and son of the female victim, was treated and released overnight at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.  

Ross told State Police investigators overnight that he was piloting his single-engine aircraft when it lost power and he crashed into the waters of the Chesapeake Bay while attempting to reach Smith Island.  He said both he and his mother were able to exit the plane after it crashed and before it sank.  He was attempting to swim to Smith Island with his mother when he said she passed away.  Ross said he continued swimming and was able to reach Smith Island about 8:00 p.m. yesterday.  

At about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 4, from Salisbury, was dispatched for an aerial search of the Chesapeake Bay off Somerset County.  Officials at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station called the State Police Aviation Command dispatch center and said they had been talking with a pilot who reported trouble with his aircraft and said he was trying to make it to Smith Island.  His small plane had disappeared from radar about three miles off the southwest side of Smith Island, according to Pax River officials

The US Coast Guard joined the State Police search by dispatching an aircraft and vessel into the area.  Officers from the Maryland Natural Resources Police responded to assist in the search with two of their boats.  A second Maryland State Police helicopter, Trooper 7 from St. Mary’s County, also joined in the search.  

The preliminary State Police investigation indicates Ross flew his mother in his two-seater plane from Hyde Field in Clinton, Md., yesterday to Tangier Island.  After visiting the island, they were beginning their trip back to Hyde Field when the pilot began experiencing problems with the plane.  He radioed the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and informed them he would try to reach Smith Island.  He told State Police he was forced to land the plane in the water and that it sank rapidly.  

Ross said his mother was injured in the crash, but after exiting the aircraft she was swimming with him as he attempted to help her swim in the direction of Smith Island.  Ross said after about a mile of swimming in rough water with waves three to five feet high, his mother passed away.  Ross continued on and was able to reach the island.  

State Police have notified officials with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.  Those agencies will be responsible for investigating the cause of the crash.  The plane has not been located or recovered at this time.

DNA Helps Free Texas Man Convicted In Wife's Death

GEORGETOWN, Texas — Texas prosecutors agreed Monday to release an Austin man who spent nearly 25 years in prison for beating his wife to death — but always maintained his innocence — after DNA tests showed another man was responsible.

District Judge Sid Harle recommended Michael Morton go free to the state Court of Criminal Appeals, which will make the final determination on overturning his conviction. Morton is set for release Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning, following a final hearing before Harle.

DelDOT Announces Successful 7th Annual "Imagine A Litter-Free Delaware" Clean Up Day

Dover -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that 108 groups, consisting of nearly 600 people participated in its 7th Annual "Imagine A Litter-Free Delaware" Clean Up Day on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Based on reports from participants in previous events, DelDOT estimates at least one bag of litter was collected for every person that took part. Last year 104 groups consisting of 735 people participated in the activity.

In addition to Adopt-A-Highway groups, individuals, businesses, student groups, families, homeowner's associations, schools, civic groups and various social clubs came together to rid Delaware roadsides of unsightly litter that could potentially cause harm to motorists and pedestrians, cyclists and wildlife.

Secretary of Transportation Shailen Bhatt has also requested that DelDOT maintenance forces pay special attention to cleaning Delaware's roadsides this week, so motorists should stay alert for DelDOT crews working on the roadsides this week.

Groups that cleaned are reminded to properly dispose of the trash they collected in a timely manner or place it near a highway sign for DelDOT to pick up. If DelDOT needs to remove trash bags from the roadside, please call the nearest DelDOT district office to request removal as soon as possible.

Bear Follows Dog Into House, Attacks Couple

NEWPORT, Pa. - A married couple was injured early Monday when a bear followed the family dog into their rural central Pennsylvania home and went on the attack, state Game Commission officials said.

Rich and Angie Moyer suffered back and leg injuries, respectively, but they weren't considered life-threatening, said Rich Moyer's mother, Leeann Moyer. Their 10-year-old son was at home at the time but was not involved, she said.

Leeann Moyer, who lives nearby, said her son let their dog, Brindie, outside at about 3 a.m. as he prepared to go to work at a warehouse, and then heard barking.

"He went to call her in," she said. "That's where everything went to hell."

ATF Fast and Furious: New documents show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed in July 2010

WASHINGTON - New documents obtained by CBS News show Attorney General Eric Holder was sent briefings on the controversial Fast and Furious operation as far back as July 2010. That directly contradicts his statement to Congress.

On May 3, 2011, Holder told a Judiciary Committee hearing, "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks."

Yet internal Justice Department documents show that at least ten months before that hearing, Holder began receiving frequent memos discussing Fast and Furious.

Delmar Teen Dies In Traffic Accident

Delmar, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in which a Delmar teen was killed yesterday evening.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. Monday as Jared West was either walking or riding a skateboard in the southbound lane of Providence Church Road, south of Line Road in Delmar, DE.  West, who was wearing dark clothing, was then struck from behind by a 2007 Lincoln MKX which was being operated by Kelly Hovatter, 31, and which was also traveling southbound on Providence Church Road. West landed in the southbound lane of the roadway. He was transported by EMS from the scene to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained in the accident. Kelly Hovatter was not injured.

 

Providence Church Road was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was cleared.

 

This crash remains under investigation at this time.
