The cop who was caught on camera using his knee to pin George Floyd’s neck to the ground is being charged with unintentional murder and manslaughter — but may face more serious allegations, a Minnesota prosecutor said Friday.
The three other cops at the scene will likely also face charges in Floyd’s racially charged death, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said.
Since-fired Officer Derek Chauvin was taken into custody pending the filing of a criminal complaint charging him with third-degree murder and manslaughter, Freeman said.
Under Minnesota law, third-degree murder covers “eminently dangerous” acts that cause death without the intent of doing so, and is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
“We are in the process of continuing to review the evidence,” Freeman said. “There may be subsequent charges later.”
Freeman said Chauvin’s arrest was “by far, the fastest we’ve ever charged a police officer.”

See, things do get done faster in the Trump administration.
The only reason it got done fast was because they would have torn that area apart tonight. The people involved want no help from Trump, Barr or his Attorneys. They stated that on CNN last night. That only made them more angry Trump stuck his nose in it. And still may try. As one tweet read, they were moving to the areas where the rich people live and destroy their property.
People ask how to prevent these incidents. It is very simple. Take the politics out of appointments of Police Chiefs / Sheriffs. Allow only the qualified and knowledgeable to hold this positions. Let these responsible individuals the ability to hire and fire when need. When there is a continuing problem then fire them and hell with the unions / politics.
He didnt die from asphyxiation - he had prior health issues including heart. I guess cops need to ask for prior health issues before they fight suspects.
I am sure coroner will label his death Corona.

It would help if you read the arrest affidavit. He was resisting at one point Of course the one who was filming wouldn't have showed that part they are so not honest people this will end up like the lie they still tell hand up don't shoot and how brown was shot in the back And to think I was concerned about what the officer did at one point I should know by now those people are to not ever be believed because they constantly proves they are nothing but liars.
My buddy got his teeth knocked out from a head butt from a person in handcuffs.. countless story’s of suspects doing crazyness wearing handcuffs mainly because they aren’t magic bracelets. If the cop didn’t turn him on his side afterwards then he is done.

Exactly. He was easily moving his head around and he was breathing because he was speaking.
This officer is going to be charged with murder just for doing his job.
i will save my judgement until all the facts are in. there is more to this then what we are seeing. Just as the others. the media is fueling it and things will be edited and left out. There is way more to this then most are seeing. The cop knew the guy, the clown that broke the windows in the autozone, i have to question was his knee really on his neck for 8 minutes. even video and photos can give desired results with editing and angles. It looks bad, but is it really? he had health problems, he resisted, i would advise all not to rush to judgement on this one either because it all could turn out just as all the others have. i will wait until the trial and all the facts before i pass my judgement.

Exactly. that he was only charged with murder 3 and and manslaughter which is an option out for jurors who are going to have trouble finding a guilty of murder verdict speaks volumes. I've predicted correctly Zimmerman, Ferguson, Casey Anthony and the Baltimore officers outcome and I will predict here and now a not guilty verdict UNLESS they include some kind of assault charge in there and maybe that will stick. What we know of the autopsy so far this doesn't rise anywhere to the level of murder. The man was a walking time bomb with all his conditions he had going on and adding whatever drugs he had in his system. Officials know what the drugs are because of urinalysis. Just waiting on blood results to give a more accurate picture. He was of such poor health a sneeze could have killed him.
I will be really surprised IF they get a conviction.....
